Same here, just with the brand new batch of Windows 10 machines we bought earlier this year, no one else seems to be affected.

Our Bursar had been told (possibly through ISBA) that we don't need a specific DPO but that he would be the "lead" for any situation involving a GDPR issue. So, he's basically the DPO but ignoring the lack of training and the conflict of interest...

My sleep pattern is always erratic so can affect me considerably. Despite going to bed "early" (9.30pm usually) I can often lay awake until 11pm or later - generally the usual "loads of irrelevant things going through my head" - and then wake up before the 6am alarm clock goes off. Never seem to be able to catch up on weekends any more though, Sunday I was out cutting the hedge at 9am despite a busy day on Saturday (I'm sure my neighbour wasn't impressed...) but then was knackered for the rest of the day because I'd spent 40 minutes wielding a petrol hedge trimmer. This is without doing any serious exercise for the last few months since my hip/quad problem, normally at touch rugby training twice a week and also playing in tournaments some weekends.

A Quiet Place An intriguing premise - aliens have invaded, and they hunt using sound, so anyone speaking tends to get caught. The film follows a family and their attempts to survive - they communicate for the vast majority of the film using sign language. While there's no dialogue it's not a silent film, great use of music and sound effects to build atmosphere. A decent film but a few plot holes spoiled it for me.

Just got back from watching it too. One of those films you have to watch over and again just to get all the hidden references.

Bit of a left field one here, but I wear MoD surplus boots, the Goretex lined ones are great - really comfortable and hard wearing. Just bought my third pair in about 8 years, not bad for £35 a time! I need footwear with decent ankle support due to joint problems, so found these and they're perfect. They polish up well too (when I can be bothered...)

Just got back from seeing the Darkest Hour. Great film, very moving and humorous in places. Also a (brief) appearance by one of our leavers from last year, as the child who looks up at Churchill's plane as he flies to France.

Similar experience here - I've recently stepped down as secretary of one organisation which needed two signatures (ironically I had only just been added to the list!) and I am on another committee which needs two signatories. A lot of payments will have to be done online in the future but how can this be easily authenticated so (for example) our treasurer doesn't empty the account? Last received a cheque at Christmas, then again my (generous) grandmother gave other grandkids £50 notes instead!

One of our Ruckus 7372 APs is causing clients to disconnect, not giving them any network connection etc. Typically this is one that's in a building on its own, so no other APs nearby to connect to. See screenshot of the Zone Director status page - the log part also reports a lot of "fails to join WLAN" errors. The PHY errors count seems high to me, considering there's only two clients and I restarted it about 90 minutes ago (PHY errors on g/n has gone up to 932 while typing this post). Another AP with 8 clients on it at the moment (someone hasn't switched off the bank of iPads!) has less than 300 and that AP has been on for 48 days having passed over 40GB of traffic in and out. Is this a fault with the AP itself, or is it more likely to be an issue with the cabling between it and the rest of the network?

I'm trying to set up three policies on our DHCP server, so they can be assigned to correct categories on Smoothwall: Windows - filtered depending on user logged in Chromebooks - "student" filtering BYOD - "staff" filtering (no student BYOD devices on our wifi) The second will be filtered by MAC address, and the third will be "everything else". For the life of me, I can't get the Windows one to work. From all I've read it should just be Vendor Class = Windows 2000 Options. However, all the DHCP renewals end up in the BYOD range so it's not correct somewhere. Help me please!

The joys of a "classic" car mean the heater takes forever to warm up. A solution that works well for me though: Car parked on drive directly outside house. External 13A socket (wired through RCD) on a timer. Small fan heater in car, plugged in - cable runs through the boot which has enough movement in the seal that it can be locked with the cable in place. Timer switches it on in the morning and the car is toasty warm and defrosted for the drive to work

Already had a message saying school will be shut tomorrow due to the snow...means I don't need to try and dig my car out and battle for 20 miles through Monday traffic (and also postpones my involvement in the nativity productions for a day as well!)

Understand that Dave, this is for companies we already have an existing contract with so it needs to be added in to the current agreement.

Having just waded my way through a template send to our school, and modified it for our purposes, one key thing seems to be missing... I'm assuming we have to get some sort of acknowledgement that the processor actually agrees to our terms? We can't just send it out and think it's all OK if we don't hear back?!

At what point is a service considered to be processing personal data? For example, there are several websites we use that just get sent a list of pupil's names & year groups. Will we need a DPA for all of these? I'm assuming those that get given additional information like pupil emails, dates of birth etc. will need a DPA.
