Still on the 2003 R2 but this changing in the summer

We have one of these CD servers but most software is either being removed as it's rather out-dated or being moved to a shared area which is 1 mapped drive then a bunch of folders inside that share for each CD. Not had any problems just test everything is ok before completely removing from the disc server, can't remember which but some required a little configuring config files and reg's.

Yep seriously check out the tracks some people are putting up on XBL and try the online. You unlock trials multiplayer rather then just supercross after a couple of races and later on unlock extreme tracks. You can also play all user created supercross and trial levels on multiplayer over XBL or local. The levels do seem easier but wait until the trials cup, i'm yet to get there myself but i've been told they are solid!

Loved trials HD and really really enjoying evolution. Great change going to an open world map for the level editor and some amazing work coming out of the online communitys for tracks and skill games. Yet to unlock expert but managed to achive gold medals on a few hard tracks last night first time! Fluke? Maybe.....

Can't believe I didnt check it first, DHCP was moved over by LEA but wireless interface on manager hadn't been configured to the new server. Strange how some devices picked up the new IP tho! *facepalm*

Wireless is Cisco Aironet 1142 APs managed by Cisco 5500 WM. SSID visible with WPA2-PSK. Network is 2 vlans for admin and curric, DHCP server in curric vlan and clients set to obtain IP automatically.

Having joined around 100 laptops to our domain about 10 are having problems finding the DHCP server. When assigned a static IP they work fine and wired in they also work great but soon as you attempt to auto assign on the wireless the laptop connects to the wireless then has the limited/no network connectivity warning. I have ran ipconfig /release wireless then renewed plus netsh winsock reset before leaving the laptop off for several minutes and rebooted but still no joy I have set up most the laptops with reserved IPs for now so they can be used but ideally I would like to solve this issue, having read similar problems the above and reinstalling NIC drivers have worked but this also didn't help.

Mr Audio thief has been again as I was writing this post a request from a teacher 'the sounds not working in my classroom' That's the 3rd audio cable in a week! I even put multiple cable ties to the desk on an area which has other sections either end so it couldn't be pulled off and super tight so they couldn't get the head of the cable out and a 2nd cable tie in the lock hole on the computer case!

Ours is the buoyancy beast, it appears to leave 'floaters' in the gents staff loo un-flushed or they are such impressive samples they simply refuse to flush. Several times now! This one gets around! Been here half a dozen times in the last year

Revival of an old thread here but it seems to be the best mandatory profile discussion on here or at least that I've found besides the wiki. I'm currently redoing our students profiles on XP then will be looking at 7. Im at the stage of editing the registry hive as I've read a number of articles regarding reducing logon time by reducing the amount of registry changes needed from logon. What would you recommend clearing out as I don't want to go too spring clean happy! I havn't needed to make any real reg changes myself as desktops and my documents paths are set with GPO and app data isn't being saved anywhere other that local to save on storage. I'm also looking to disable the windows desktop search from loading up, it has the habbit of locking completly when users logoff but currently I have a near full registry hive in my mandatory student profiles!

CeX Only deal in pre-owned products which are purchased from customers for either cash or store credit. Having worked for Cex a few years ago while at uni they only purchase products with cash in the tills which are skimmed off to the safe every few hours and banked every few days once it reachs a certain target often several thousand depending on sales. When customers are told they cannot buy cash items at the moment this is true the till staff cannot, its not to say the store has no cash! If your lucky you can still find some retro games in cex, we were however in 2010 told not to accept PC games in the large cardboard boxs they must be in a DVD case

Peter is spot on, IMO schools don't want someone with a list of certs who can talk technical lingo for hours on end but someone who can get on with the role while engaging with other members of staff and students. Communication is a huge part of the role so the stereotypical IT guy isn't a good fit. I started last year as my first full time in IT, previous to this I worked part time just a few hours per week in a little computer repair store for minimum wage and a few retails jobs but on my CV tryed to make the point I'm used to dealing with customers face to face and maintaining good 'people' skills. This could be put across both in your CV and at interview stages and as Rydra suggested don't go on about them but just mention hobbies and the world outside of your IT related stuff. Best of luck and keep on looking it takes time and abit of luck plus many people with more experience may apply for a job it doesn't mean they will always get it over you its easier IMO to teach someone new tricks then break old bad habits so many places will want you to work how they see fit not how you studied and research. School interviews I had asked more questions as to how you meet the personal specification and why you're suited to work in a school, not why do you think you're suited to the IT support role, those questions came at later stages and 2nd interviews once they knew you are the right minded candidate. Might also be worth writing for experience in private companys that local schools and businesses are outsourcing, do some research into how schools in the local area are with the quality they receive, might find a gap in the market
