To be fair - when I used to work in school - before I gave up bothering to work - every year I used to think "Yea Gods these Year 7's get younger every year" maybe it has gone too far now??? Notice that I am carefully avoiding any of the more dodgy possible dodgy -
WHoever sold this iPad to my wife I hope you are proud of yourself!! Still - based on some posts on this site - might be more use in school than a more normal one!!!

Yes - they do look good I have heard from several people that phone cameras - and presumably other digital cameras - have actually often produced much better effects than the naked eye can presumably due to some of the lights being slightly beyond the eyes visual range but just inside the cameras range

The Wildlife (and Gardening for Wildlife) thread

Yesterday I heard a funny banging from the garden Looked out and next door's bird box - which has had blue tits flying in and out for a while - had a Gretaer Spotted Woodpecker pecking at the entrance hole surrounding - trying to enlarge it so he/she could get in and get at the chicks/eggs apologies if this causes flashbacks to DosBox for previous trauma - if I remember correctly no photos as it was too far for the phone camera and the proper cameras are probably short on power as they haven;t been needed over the winter -

I am not holding up much hope the phrase "step to far" might apply if indeed it doesn't already -

Good trailer WHen I watch it - which I will - I must remember that it is BASED ON stuff that happened in the Tolkein books with many of the same names but not actually the same story - which annoyed me last time until I realised i had to go beyond that and accept it for what it is -

We are also watching that - several episodes in so far not surprising - just confirms a lot of the worst I have heard - and goes beyond even that quite scary really

I do wonder about how some ads are targetted Temu do seem to think I am interested in young ladies wearing skimpy underwear that I don't think would suit Mrs mikeprice!!!! most ads get blocked by UBlock so I don't see them - to be honest some new sites are unusable without an ad blocker because they just take sooooo long to load -
I demand that you remove your bugs from my house!!!!

Welcome! I started in programming - some time ago when dinosaurs where wandering past the windows rather than Windows running the computers - including some mainframe stuff I ended up here a bit differently after that (used to teach IT - but I don;t tell people on here in case they make fun of me!!!) Lots of helpful people on here - ask anything!

There are times when I think we needs a more nuanced series of options to the "Thank Post" icon This is certainly of of those times where I am not sure I want to "Thank" the poster!!!

Looks effective - but it would be rejected as it it too utilitarian and doesn;t match the decor (and no - I don;t understand that either!) anyone come up with a way of detecting the key independently from the car?? mostly thinking of whether or not a sheet of kitchen foil on the back of the wooden key rack would be effective as it might/would block the signal that a thief would pick up put also a little gadget that detects wireless signal would be a nice thing to have (or "more junk" as my wife would certainly put it)

Just a little note when I was a programmer I would, naturally, sometimes need to have a data item that acted as an index/subscript or keep track of how many we had processed so far There was a standard for data names - so it would normally have to be something like WI7-table2-index and for a few years Ipart of my job was supervising all the programmers in the team and enforcing standards I always called it DRACULA - because it was a count which I explained in the comments I did overhear one senior programmer saying to a junior programmer "don't say anything to him about it - don;t give him the pleasure - PLEASE"

I am working on the basis that is someone is equipped enough to turn up and be able to detect and copy the signal then they will go for the Porche Taycan next door!!! I am just interested to see how easy it is to block - and how do I know whether something works BTW - I haved a cheap Faraday pouch - but am looking for a nice small metal box instead - the Hoola Hoop bag (although I think a MaryLand cookie bag will work as well) is handy for emergencies maybe?? anyway thank all for contributions

stupid idea How can she get me to reach everything on the top shelf and ask me question to which she already know the answer is really "dunno" - put to which I have to put together random words into something that sounds like an answer and who will push the trolley????

Hello all As I have mentioned - I have a new car (new to me anyway) and it has electric everything including keyless entry which obviously brings concerns about some numpty turning up outside in the middle of the night witha little box and recording the signal then replaying it by the car and opening it and driving off Anyway - the problem is that we have a nice looking wooden key-rack by the front door - wood with hooks along the top look nice and handy but I presume the keyless signal might be detectable from outside I do have a small Faraday bag which I keep the car remotes in just in case I was wondering - about stuff (as I do) and I was wondering if anyone on here has some answers a) is there a cheap and easy way to detect the signal myself so I can check where it reaches. I don;t need to record it - obviously - just detect it b) how easy is it to block? - would a sheet of kitchen foil stuck to the back of the wooden keyrack stop the signal getting out of the house? BTW - someone on "another forum" says that a Hoola Hoop packet works due to the metallic lining - which is interesting if you ever need a Faraday cage that is cheap and easy to get hold of! Thanks Mike
