We had our loft boarded recently and the loft hatch was replaced previously I had it insulated but it now only has a thin sheet of relective 'insulation' on it What do people use to insulate it - it folds down - not up as previously I was considering some loft insulation in a bag and stuck down - of some old foam like a trimmed down sofa cushion interior thanks

Yes - overall you will not gain anything - probably use extra power due to inefficiencies in charging my point was that, assuming you are eligible for the refund - then you would (or might be!) able to divert power usage from the allocated time to the time before and after the hour i.e charge the UPS fully (if it was not already) before the hour - use it during the hour thus not registering any power usage - then recharge the ups after the hour you then get the refund/payback as you have reduced your power usage during the allocated hour As has been said - and as I suspected - the savings might not be worth the effort to get them and, of course, there is the risk factor I was just wondering if anyone had worked out the numbers

Has anyone been able to use the energy saving hours to save money for the school for example - how long would the servers run on UPS backup??? - maybe a chance to test it out (while watching carefully!!) switching off the air con for an hour in the server room - after boosting it for an hour before?? anything else and how much would it save in terms of pounds and KWh??

Oh - is it? I hadn't noticed that anyway - same applies - boiler uses electrons to push the water round after the gas has increased the rms velocity of the water anyway - chances of doing 'something clever' like going out for a bike ride and leaving everything switched off are out not that the weather is exactly ideal for a bike ride with slick tyres anyway but whatever!!! anyway - thanks for pointing that out - maybe I can use it next time

Yup great timing - we have the baby tomorrow morning so the heating will have to be on hence - no chance of any savings!!! Of course if the solar panel battery system was working then I could force charge then from 7-9 then use the power from 9-10 but that still ain;t working - must pester them yet again tomorrow!!!

Our recycling people say that food waste 'corrupts' the cardboard and can lead to the whole batch having to be rejected exactly why is unclear - but I presume a certain amount is OK but if everyone lobs their used pizza boxes into the recycling then it overloads their system WHat confuses me is that mrs mikeprice always gets pizza from Pizza Hut nowadays - and they always put a little plastic thingy in to hold the lid away from the pizza hence the cardboard look, to me, to be perfectly clean however, previously we used to go to a local pizza place - when we went there te cardboard alwys had a greasy patch in the middle of the lid naturally - all the big pizza companies say their boxes are recycleable - but it seems to depend a lot of exactly how you recycle and where you live

Useful information for people looking for a job as well as well, of course, as the job pages on here little note - when I was looking for a job - quite a few years ago - I found some jobs via the normal teacher supply agencies Hay was one - not sure of the others but each time I was not the only applicant so they did, at the time, look for IT tech positions as well as for teachers
