  1. Well after discussions with one of my SMT. Zoom will now only be supported if the call is initiated by someone external to the organisation. All internal video conference meetings will be done using TEAMS.
  2. So are school's creating the Zoom accounts for their staff? I'm uncomfortable letting staff use their own personal accounts for business Zoom meetings.
  3. I've just had to rush to setup Zoom on a PC for a member of staff who is in. They've ended up using it via the browser (Chrome) as I can't see how to allow non-admins the ability to install. I've installed it when I'm logged in but it's put it in APPDATA (?) Am I doing something wrong? Is there an MSI I can deploy out to teacher PC's?
  4. I've come across this information: But I don't know what "Registrar’s (hosting ISP’s) tag" is? Applying for a sch.uk Schools can apply to register a domain name if they do not already hold one. Applications should be made in writing (as signed request on the letterhead of the school/appropriate controlling authority) to Nominet detailing the following:  School name  ID number  Postal address  Contact name  Contact email address  Preferred domain name  Registrar’s (hosting ISP’s) tag Where groups of schools are forming a consortium for the centralised provision of teaching or IT services, either led by a Local Authority or a school group, a .sch.uk domain name can be registered. The Local Authority or lead school in the consortium should apply for the domain name using their name and contact details for the registration process. Fees New schools in England, Scotland, Wales, independent schools, school consortia and schools that wish to change their existing domain name will need to pay the registration fee of £3.90 + VAT. We will invoice the applicant directly and register the domain name on receipt of payment. Sch.uk domain names are not currently subject to a renewal fee. Where to apply Applications for new domains should be made in writing to: Customer Services Nominet UK Minerva House Edmund Halley Road Oxford Science Park Oxford OX4 4DQ Fax: 01865 332288 Please send any scanned documentation to [email protected].
  5. Is it possible to take a "dump" of all data in SIMS? Perhaps by student in a CSV file? We're moving away from SIMS in the near future to Bromcom and wondered the best way to gain a historical snapshot of the data held.
  6. Where do you purchase the sch.uk addresses from?
  7. What are you doing about historical access to SIMS data given that Bromcom only migrate over up to 5 years of data per oldest pupil I think?
  8. Good to know. We are O365 so hopefully our SMTP setup will be more straightforward. I know when we had a virtual meeting with them this week to outline the migration process they mentioned something about GMAIL SMTP. We're not planning to do the live migration until late August.
  9. As title. is dot SCH dot UK (.sch.uk) still the preferred domain name for a school? What are the pros and cons of moving away from this 'standard' ?
  10. We're starting the same journey. They've now got our order and we're planning for a Summer holiday Go-Live date.
  11. Augmented Reality? Cos not much feels real at the moment....
  12. I'm assuming the school will get a good clean before we open... I'm not sold on the gloves idea, what's to stop them sneezing in to the gloves and then touching surfaces?
  13. Not as such but I'm conscious there are 100's of PC's that will not have been turned on for weeks! I was wondering about getting the students who are still coming in (about ten) to do a sweep of the school (supervised) and turn them all on one day! Copiers will also need to all be fired back up and tested, but apart from that, what else needs doing?
  14. For School's who have lent out laptops to students so they could work from home, did you all put Web filtering on them? Or have you left ensuring they are used sensibly with the parent?
  15. Is it possible to stream the same lesson given in say room A ( of ten students) to the rooms B and C without using the internet?
  16. Perfect thanks. I also found that if you do the screen capture in Chrome then open in "Paint" I can go in to Page Setup -> Scaling and change it to 1 page wide by say 12 pages long and then print to PDF that way.
  17. Not bad, how did you do it? I've got to zoom in a fair bit to read, but if nothing else comes to light it'll do fine I think.
  18. This is the thread. Ideally I'd like it as a PDF. https://twitter.com/HolidayExtras/status/1251203455504519171 Any suggestions? I'm struggling to find a way. Cheers
  19. From here: https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/five-things-you-need-to-know-about-coronavirus-today/ar-BB12U5IZ?ocid=spartandhp Researchers estimate that 18% of infected people never developed any.
  20. Problem is it's Easter Break - so the queries from staff and students have been very few and far between this week. I went in yesterday as I'm still working on the new school project ( http://www.edugeek.net/forums/behind-red-door/196817-so-im-going-involved-new-school-project-6.html ) & also took the opportunity to do a few Windows Updates and Server reboots. Today I'm at home...
  21. I've got a server starting to show this issue again - anyone got any thoughts?
  22. Fraid not, it was 2 Tb and at it's limit (MBR)
