  1. Done the work today - all seemed to go smoothly
  2. We use FoldR to allow staff and students to change their passwords, was not aware you could use it to reset a forgotten password - how would they logon to FoldR to do this - if they don't know their password?
  3. I've found this post on the Internet... Here's the command I typically use when I want to retain all permisions, ownership and timestamps of the entire folder structure and data: robocopy source destination /E /ZB /DCOPY:T /COPYALL /R:1 /W:1 /V /TEE /LOG:Robocopy.log Here's what the switches mean: source :: Source Directory (drive:\path or \\server\share\path). destination :: Destination Dir (drive:\path or \\server\share\path). /E :: copy subdirectories, including Empty ones. /ZB :: use restartable mode; if access denied use Backup mode. /DCOPY:T :: COPY Directory Timestamps. /COPYALL :: COPY ALL file info (equivalent to /COPY:DATSOU). Copies the Data, Attributes, Timestamps, Ownser, Permissions and Auditing info /R:n :: number of Retries on failed copies: default is 1 million but I set this to only retry once. /W:n :: Wait time between retries: default is 30 seconds but I set this to 1 second. /V :: produce Verbose output, showing skipped files. /TEE :: output to console window, as well as the log file. /LOG:file :: output status to LOG file (overwrite existing log).
  4. I have a VM Running Server 2019. It has a D:\ drive of almost 2 Tb which only has 50 Gb remaining. I've created a new empty 1 Tb E:\ drive. I wish to move the folder D:\data\Resources to the new drive, so it will become E:\data\Resources The folder D:\data\Resources is shared on the server with the share name resources$ and permissions are set to allow various people and groups to save or not to folders within. Are there any robocopy experts out there who can confirm how to do the copy so that all permissions are retained? Once copied would it then just be a simple case of unsharing the original location and resharing the new one? Or would you remove the share first, reboot the server to ensure no one is updating any files? It would be my intention to do the copy over the Bank Holiday Weekend when less students/staff will be needing access to the data. Cheers.
  5. Good shout, probably worth a try if I can get hold of any...
  6. It came with a 2m extension cable and cradle thingy - so it's the best I'm going to get I think. Next time I'm in school I might see if one of the work ones get's me a better connection whilst I'm working from here...
  7. It's fibre Virgin, I don't have a long enough ethernet cable, the doors are not conveniently placed to the two separate rooms, even though it's effectively just through one wall, and the phone seems to get a good enough signal. Maybe the USB WiFi adapter is just sh*t
  8. When I test on my phone I'm getting downloads of around 23 Mbps - it's a 2.4 GHz connection to my Virgin Fibre router. My PC has a netgear N150 Wireless USB adapter - I'm sat 18 inches away from the dongle when I test my phone - but when I check on my PC I get speeds of only 3 Mbps. Any ideas why this might be?
  9. Thanks. I also just had this back from our LEA Hi, The worksheet incorrectly advises to import a new set of reports when in fact there are no new reports with the latest Spring Upgrade. Please accept our apologies for this error. Kind regards,
  10. I've just done our SIMS Server upgrade. LEA instructions say: Importing SIMS Reports Included in every release of SIMS are an updated set of Predefined reports. To ensure your system has the latest reports available, it is essential to import the reports following the steps below. 1. Open SIMS 2. Click on Reports | Import 3. Click on the Open/browse button and locate the SIMS installation path (typically C:\Program Files (x86)\SIMS\SIMS .net) 4. Highlight Predefined_Reports_v7192.RptDef and click on Open 5. Click on Import But the fie is not there? Any ideas? Cheers
  11. If only I could get my £650 back as easily from Your Golf Travel who cancelled our break 14 days ago and are refusing to refund us in line with Package Tour Regs 2018!
  12. I thought schools were staying open over Easter to continue to offer childminding services to front line key workers?
  13. Geez, some of you work for some right schools and trusts. I'd like to think under the current climate, emailing me demanding me to take holiday would be the least of anyone's concerns and I'd also hope if it came to it someone would ring me up rather than email me. Thankfully I work for a great organisation with give and take and can't see it being any problem to take holiday later in the year (I've had cancelled one break to Portugal and a week's trip to Scotland recently cancelled) so I'm going to be awash with leave in the summer....
  14. Came in today, first time since Monday AM - only real reason as a staff member dropped off their school loan laptop as they could n't logon to it. Of course using the details they were emailed I logged on first time! Done a few bits and bobs in the office but won't be staying long - 6 kids on site out of 1350! Probably more staff in! Saw the head who said he's spending nearly all day just keeping on top of all his emails! Told me the LEA are keeping a very tight list of which students and staff members are going in each day, which we provide them with.
  15. Office 2019 it is then - thanks Microsoft for nothing!
  16. From the user...
  17. I'll see if I can get her to do that. She is working from home on her own laptop!
  18. Yes, licencing is by the main staff group and no others with issues. As per my opening post there is no error it just tries to log her in then fails and returns her to the logon page again. I'm getting frustrated that I cannot help her
  19. Nothing in the logs and the had the same issue with INCOGNITO mode
  20. Yesterday a staff member emailed the IT support team: I have just tried to log into teams and it says it cannot log me in. I can open all of the other programmes via the waffle tab at the top but not that. Can anyone advise? Today they have emailed: I have restarted my PC this morning and still no joy. Like yesterday if i go on ppt or word these open fine but when i click on teams it says checking credentials and then say it can't log me in. It takes me back to the log in page and when i add my e-mail and password still no joy. I did change my password remotely on Monday but it has not stopped me accessing anything else. I am not sure where to start with this one, I've suggested using a different browser, the staff member is working remotely using a school laptop, as am I. Any ideas people? Thanks.
  21. I switched to Edge browser and it improved - who'd have thought
  22. Both myself (NM) and technician will be monitoring emails from home and addressing whatever we can. Anything that requires us to go physically in to school will be with agreement with the Head. Today they had 13 students out of 1350!
  23. Anyone else experiencing issues with accessing email through a browser? Trying to work from home is proving challenging when it takes a few minutes to refresh an email
