  1. No. I've pushed out some software, removed the link between the OU and the policy and the software 'should' uninstall at next reboot. Before I link in the new software to the OU I wondered if I had all the PC's in the room turned on could I quickly check to ensure the software had been removed. I tried the line : get-wmiobject -ComputerName -class Win32_Product -filter 'IdentifyingNumber="{172825C8-3E26-4DAB-984D-732430E471DE}"' But nothing is returned...
  2. Is there anyway, remotely, with the PC turned on to check if software which is no longer in the scope and should have been removed at boot has actually been removed? Asking, as if I have to ensure software A has been removed before I push out software B - how can I actually check it's gone?
  3. I made no changes. A few more of the PC's in the test room picked up the MSI, I approved all of them, ran the AD sync again and the count went from 1 to 21! Even though 6 were already approved. Bit odd!
  4. Hi, I don't want to auto-approve as some of the OU's I'm syncing with have non-student devices in them which I don't want sync. Under devices I don't see any duplicates, on the right hand side is just a list of my devices under the heading "Unmatched"....it shows the 5 devices that have been removed from the group and the 1 that remains.
  5. Thanks just got to that part in the manual myself but cheers - you always read the manual after the event right? I thought testing was going well. Pushed out the client MSI to a room. Devices were appearing waiting to be authenticated - those that were were then automatically put in a room group based on an AD sync which I ran. All good. Then I ran the AD sync again and all but the last clients to be authenticated have been removed from the group....can't work out why?
  6. Just installed v9. Getting to grips with the interface. So far can't see a way to setup the clients so that they ONLY see the PC's in the room.
  7. Well! Just had someone from a Microsoft store call me who must have got my details after filling in one of the online contact forms! He's taken all the details of the query and is also going to see if he can put someone in touch with me who can answer the question of how do you get DBS licences added to an OVS-ES agreement so you can activate O365 at the device level!
  8. Just an update for anyone following this thread! I've had a response to one of my tweets to Paul Morrison of Microsoft who has offered to help getting to the bottom of this licencing issue. I've sent him via email all the information including the links to two threads on Edugeek and all the correspondence from my re-seller who was unable to add the DBS licence to my OVS-ES agreement! Hopefully we are on the road to at least getting some clarification if not a solution!
  9. Caught up with a student who explained how he emailed in from home last night a piece of work he'd been finishing off. He said he just chose the attachment option and pointed to the file, but for some reason it's put the document in the attachments folder on our root sharepoint site. I've asked him to see if he can recreate the issue over the weekend. I'm still pretty confused. I've removed the "attachments" folder in the Documents of the sharepoint site as well.
  10. Made some changes to OneDrive settings and thought that might stop these random files appearing and 5 minutes later another one appears haha Highlighted shows how it used to be set.
  11. Sadly the file I shared was not placed in the attachments folder of the sharepoint site , so I'm still investigating how they are appearing
  12. I've just tried a test email - chose attachment - then browse cloud locations, chose a file from my OneDrive and once it was attached to the email it states: "Anyone can view"!!!!! Could that be it?
  13. Indeed, email sent to my first victim, erm, I mean helper
  14. Hi, Yes I can see lots of students doing this, what I don't understand is how they are doing it? Could they be getting confused using One-drive and somehow sharing it wit the whole organisation?
  15. Here is an example.
  16. I've now found some time to start looking at all the different O365 apps after migrating from our old mail client last year. Via the SharePoint admin center I can see a few test sites including one that cannot be deleted with primary admin "Company Administrator". This site is reportedly using over 15Gb of space, so I've been digging around as AFAI was aware no one was using "sharepoint" - I've not added the licence for it and it should n't be appearing as an app for anyone. (logged in as a test student they can only see the ones I've currently assigned; Calendar, Outlook, People, Tasks and Whiteboard. On entering the sharepoint site I click on attachments and see a list of files! How are these getting populated? Is it stripping off every attachment from emails? Under my test user whilst the Sharepoint APP does not appear to be one they can use, if I go to the main sharepoint URL I can see the attachment list and it appears to let me view all of them! What's going on? Thanks.
  17. Christine Jomuadi (Microsoft) Wednesday, February 5, 2020 3:23 PM GMT Hi Jeff, Thank you for your cooperation with me on the call earlier. As instructed over the phone, the issue that you raised is best discussed with your Reseller. As recommended by our expert on-site, your re-seller can reach out to MS Account Executives or, ROC for further assistance (Regional Operations Center) that they supposed to have contact with. Appreciate your partnership with us and hope that this can be sorted as soon as possible. Looking forward to hear from you soon. Best Regards, Christine Office 365 - Supervisor
  18. Hi, I only get "join". I think it's to do with me securing who can create "Group" in office 365. I used a script here : https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/office365/admin/create-groups/manage-creation-of-groups?view=o365-worldwide to create a new AD group called "Group Creators". I've ensured this group is syncing OK with Azure and that my test user is in the group, but the test user is still unable to create groups (or Teams)
  19. I've now given myself and a test staff member the rights to use Teams. But I can't now see how to create a test TEAM!
  20. I think it's now turned on by default !
  21. When we first migrated to Office 365 I seem to recall turning Teams off in the Office 365 admin centre! Choose Admin to go to the Office 365 admin centre. Go to Settings > Services & add-ins.Sign in to Office 365, go to the Office 365 admin center, go to Settings, and then choose Services & add-ins. On the Services & add-ins page, choose Microsoft Teams.Scroll down on the Services & add-ins page, and then choose Microsoft Teams. On the Microsoft Teams settings page that opens, click or tap to switch the toggle to the On position to turn on Teams for your organization, and then choose Save. When I now try and reverse this decision the admin centre no longer has this option it would appear! Stuck!
  22. Currently on the phone with the above reps call centre manger and I've asked her to click this link : https://officedba.azurewebsites.net/onboarding/signup.aspx
  23. Don't worry - I, like many others, are looking to move away from SIMS.net
  24. Response from MS to a call I raised! Lornalyn (Microsoft) Wednesday, February 5, 2020 12:53 PM GMT Hello Jeff, Good Afternoon. This is Lyn again from Office 365 Support and this is regarding the ticket 18414510 about the Device-based Subscription (DBS) for Education. We apologize for that we failed to call you on your preferred schedule yesterday, but rest assure that we will setup a callback today at 2:30pm-3:45pm UK time to discuss the details below. Summary of Case : You are right that the Office 365 ProPlus for Education (device) is an add-on license that is available only for education customers and is available only through Enrollment for Education Solutions (EES). As confirmed from this article : https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/deployoffice/device-based-licensing I also understand the frustration that other agreement such as CSP, OVS-ES etc were note part of it, but I'm hoping that Microsoft will have an option to have it in the future. Unfortunately, on our end we do not have further details we can provide aside from the article above. The only thing that we can suggest also was to move from OVS to EES agreement but I understand that its not a good option for you. Suggested Actions: I suggest since OVS is a Volume Licensing program, we suggest you contact the Volume Licensing support for further assistance via the link below: https://www.microsoft.com/Licensing/servicecenter/Help/Contact.aspx Again, we apologize that we only have limited details that we can provide about it. In case you have the time, I appreciate that this is one of our opportunity that we can improve the features to work with OVS and other agreement platform in the future and with that said, we would like to hear it and address it to our Microsoft developers. Kindly check Customer Feedback for Microsoft Office 365 - UserVoice and you can post these ideas. Thanks for your understanding. Faster Assistance is available: My schedule is 12:30pm-8:30pm UK. Please let us know if you needed a further clarification on the details above by providing your preferred callback schedule by replying to this email. In case that the preferred schedule was beyond my shift, I will endorsing the case to another ambassador who will call you on your preferred schedule. Please provide a 2-hour window for a call back number and schedule that is convenient for you. If you prefer to continue communications via email, we can proceed that way as well. I’m committed to resolving your issue(s) and looking forward to your response.
  25. This was the reply from my reseller who has got nowhere on this Hi Jeff I wish I could tell you Microsoft have come back with a definitive response to your question on whether or not the on-premise Office key is ending under the OVSES agreement in May 2020. BUT after initially being told by Microsoft distribution to log (a call) with MS direct and chasing I received a call yesterday from a MS representative (Charles) who after telling me it was probably a question for Pre-Sales (and me explaining it was not a question of purchasing Office 365Device licences but rather the potential ending of the Office on-premise key in May) he said his team were not aware of any change to current Office activation under OVSES and if there was, both he and schools would be made aware of this before any change and he would send me an email to confirm to this effect! (please see email below) Unfortunately his email response I subsequently received is not exactly the definitive response of his verbal response. Again I can only presume at this stage that the Office Device key MS say is ending is May is only under the full EES (as opposed to OVSES) whereby the Office365 Device licence is available but the only other thing I can suggest trying is instead of logging the actual question, logging instead the question around your current Office on-premise activation key possibly ending in May and ask for the new deployment key (as it appears to suggest in the screen shot you sent me) I would hope that based on the fact OVSES customers cannot currently obtain the Office365 Device licence that you should get some kind of definitive response to definitively say you do not require a new key? DOES ANYONE THINK THIS HELPS?
