Just looking in to this for our exam team. I've installed the trial version and done a test edit to the JSON file, but this won't save. I'm logged in as a Domain Admin. Also, is it possible to edit the JSON file and re-wrap back in to an MSI for deployment? Or is it a case of installing then replace the JSON file with our custom one?

Setting/Amending Retention Policies in M365
kennysarmy replied to EssentialRug's topic in Cloud Services
MS have asked if we can create a new retention policy using powershell :/ Would you have any code that you have used to save me spending hours trying to work it out? Ideally I want to create a new policy in a disabled state so I know I'm not going to bork anything... Cheers -
The question from the DSL is: "I just want to see how they are able to safeguard their students appropriately using these systems" & Essentially, how do they safeguard their pupils if they are not able to access the materials they save onto their one drive. E.g. if a child writes a note about ending their life and saving it on their onedrive, how are staff able to filter to find this and act accordingly.

Yes - but they don't seem to work consistently so we we're on hold until they update us.... -
Setting/Amending Retention Policies in M365
kennysarmy replied to EssentialRug's topic in Cloud Services
Could it be this? We've had issues for months :/ After much discussion and deliberation with Microsoft, I finally got some helpful information. There has been a degradation of services since March 2nd this year and this is what is affecting you and causing us so many headaches. The latest update from Microsoft on this is below: Title: Users’ files in the Preservation Hold Library aren't being deleted by retention policies or retention labels User impact: Users’ files in the Preservation Hold Library aren't being deleted by retention policies or retention labels. Current status: We determined that our fix deployment has successfully completed in our internal test environment and is now being prepared for broad deployment. We'll be able to provide a resolution timeline in our next scheduled update, although we do continue to anticipate initiating the broad deployment in the beginning of September, 2023. Scope of impact: Your organization is affected by this event, and users’ files within the SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business Preservation Hold Library document library aren't being deleted by Data Lifecycle Management and Records Management retention policies or retention labels. Start time: Thursday, March 2, 2023 at 12:00 AM GMT Root cause: A Preservation Hold Library update resulted in disruption of the delete processing service, which removes files in accordance with your configured retention policies or retention labels, causing the impact. Next update by: Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at 7:30 PM GMT+1 -
Created a new Role and applied to several staff. Says will take 5 minutes to apply. Been over an hour - do users need to log completely out of O365 for new change to be forced? :/

Smoothwall Guardian CA expiry warning

OK. Is it best to leave the new CA being deployed via GPO for a few days before making it default? -
Smoothwall Guardian CA expiry warning
kennysarmy replied to mdrabble's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Hi, My Guardian CA certificate expires soon. Is it just a case of clicking "New Certificate"? Then "exporting" and replacing the one in my GPO that pushes this cert. out? Or do I click New Root CA? It's not very clear what to do :/ -
Just had a chat with Adobe Engineer which was very useful 20 minutes. Will do some further testing on the packages and I'm still waiting for our 300 named user licence to get added to our console, but I'm getting there - I just know how quickly September will come around.

Intune AutoPilot Enrollment Import not working
kennysarmy replied to kennysarmy's topic in O/S Deployment
So if you have an "Assigned User" column in your CSV, even if it's empty in each ROW it will prevent the import process from working. And you won't get any error or warning as such, it will just sit there!!!! Issue now resolved. -
Intune AutoPilot Enrollment Import not working
kennysarmy replied to kennysarmy's topic in O/S Deployment
Over 25 hours and still nothing -
finding it confusing that I'm choosing Managed Package, but then later in the options it's giving options to allow users to install themselves!
-
Thanks for your reply. When you say they can install, my users will mainly be using the applications on specific devices within our Art department, what does "install" actually mean? Surely when we run the package installer as admins it will install everything we've chosen - does "installing" in the user context just mean making it available to them? I don't want it installing dozens of times if that's what each user does as the hard drives will soon run out of space. Cheers.

The time has come for me to jump on the Creative Cloud bandwagon. We've gone 300 user licences so I'm now looking at the best way to package up and deploy the applications our Art and Drama departments require. During the package build process I've come across quite a few options, and wondered if anyone has any experience of the best way to go with some of these? Creative Cloud Desktop options Enable self-service install This option provides end-users with the ability to install and update applications from the Apps Panel. Default TICKED Allow non-admins to update and install apps Enables self-service for end users that lack administrative rights. Default TICKED Disable auto-update for end-users End users will not be able to automatically update their applications. Disable file syncing Suppress the automatic syncing of files on client systems. Enable browser based login Enables browser based login via Creative Cloud Desktop Application. Enable install of beta apps The option provides end-users with the ability to install and update beta apps. Management options Enable Remote Update Manager Remotely invoke the updater on a client machine. This allows you to seamlessly manage your client systems install. Default TICKED Redirect to internal Adobe update server If you have set up an update server using AUSST and configured it in the preferences section then select this option to redirect clients to your internal server. Create a folder for extensions and include the UPIA command-line tool Install both your Creative Cloud applications and your extensions as part of a single deployment process. Install package to custom install directory Install the applications to a custom install directory. Configure the directory in the preferences section

Intune AutoPilot Enrollment Import not working
kennysarmy replied to kennysarmy's topic in O/S Deployment
Been around 90 minutes. Have tried multiple times :/ If they all eventually work will I end up with duplicate devices enrolled? -
I've created my CSV file (even tried with just one device) but when I click IMPORT nothing appears to happen and the device(s) do not get enrolled. Any ideas?

From 1st Sept 2023 our system will retain emails for 14 months, this will include in boxes, folders and deleted items. Action needed - Make sure any information you need to save from emails over 14 months old is stored in an alternative location. For a few areas of the school (particularly those that have long term contract arrangements) this time frame my not be suitable. Some areas of the school have already spoken to me about this but if you feel you may need a different time frame please do let me know.
