Even with a dual LNB and dual cable run as proposed?

Which would be fine if they actually put some investment into the railways for the amount of rolling stock that is needed. A 25 year old, 2-carriage cattle truck twice an hour just doesn't cut it. The government needs to decide whether it wants privatised railways or not - it seems to want to have its cake and eat it with the DFT deciding which operators are going to get which rolling stock.

If you're doing action="mailto:[email protected]" then it's very likely to end in failure because it relies on the email client and web browser being properly set up. In these times when a lot of people don't actually have a proper mail client and just use webmail, it's no longer viable to use this method (if it ever was). You can (although probably shouldn't) do this in a single line of PHP, it's more trivial than it looks.

Might be possible if you put some HTML into the email to create tables. Only other thing I can think of is have the form submit the user input into a database, and then use the Access to query the database (over ODBC) and put it into a nice looking form. Not a very elegant solution though!

I'm getting irritated of late by people who seem to think that the word "not" needs to be written in upper case. On a notice or similar I can understand it, but in general prose of an email, I find it annoying and patronising.

A colleague of mine was having all sorts of problems with her ADSL service. Turned out that due to the proximity of the Moorside Edge masts (the main MW transmitter site for the north of England) there was a filter on the phone line as it entered her house, which as well as filtering out the radio signals, was filtering out the broadband data. Unfortunately when new windows had been fitted to the house, this filter had been buried in the window frame, so BT had to re-route the line into the house and fit a new style of filter to it.

This may be an urban myth, but the BBC were getting a number of reports of poor reception of the Radio 4 Long Wave service from Droitwich. They marked all of the locations on a map and found that there was a pattern to them, and found that the marks on the map pointed to a particular area, and on turning up there to investigate discovered that somebody had rigged up a tesla coil arrangement to power lights, from the RF energy from the transmitter. They apparently had the bloke charged with abstraction of electricity.

Apparently it's too high to see, but there could be a spectacular sunset tonight.

The JVC model in the more conventional form factor may be easier to get good stable shots with - you can put stabilise it on a table or something a lot more easily for a start. Also remember to factor in the sound quality - the pictures aren't everything.

Is it the zip that is password protected or the file within it (or both)? Can you put the passworded zip into a non password zip to get round it?

I have the Morphy Richards, it's ok but it has a tendancy to crash frequently after listening to something on the On Demand BBC streams, if you come back to it later and go back up the menu tree. Shame there doesn't seem to be any development of it as it's in dire need of some bug fixes in the firmware.

Can anybody recommend a HDD and DVD recorder that can do the live pause feature with its composite or SCART inputs? We've got a Wharfedale one that can do it, but it's unreliable and the sound and picture go out of sync on recordings sometimes, but it seems that some models can only live pause Freeview and not the inputs. Any info appreciated

I have a horrible feeling one of the constituencies near here is going to end up with a BNP MP - the sitting Labour MP (with an 8,000 majority) is frequently demonstrating himself to be embarrassingly out of touch and something of a liability, and I think many people who would generally have supported him will not vote, as they can't bring themselves to put a X next to the Tory's name, leaving the door open for a smaller party.

Just to clarify - you've moved to Virgin's ADSL service, and you're not in an area that has cable? (Eg you're keeping your BT phone line)
