I think (99%) that the report will get a new Parameter id when inported into another sims database. To get round this make a script to Generate Paramiters XML file for the report and also script an edit of the XML once created to be how you need it. To generate the xml use the folowing comand CommandReporter /USER:xxx /PASSWORD:xxx /REPORT:mySIMSreport /PARAMDEF /OUTPUT:myXMLfile /QUIET

Aruba is good but it has very similar problems to the Netgear system and that is all traffic has to tunnel back to the controller before it drops onto the network. And in dence environments this can be a big botal neck. P.s your netgear switch is just a rebranded Aruba 800 controller so on the plus side you would be at home with the GUI. Also you can evan load Aruba OS onto the netgear and manage Aruba ap's but not the new 802.11n ones.

RM Build disk, network capable boot disk
MicrodigitUK replied to Greenbeast's topic in How do you do....it?

I think what clareq is referring to is storage for their "Home Drives" spread over three servers. This is common practise especially in a RM CC3/CC4 network. The Home drives are normally split down into year group for server load balancing. So Server1: Year 7, 8 and staff. Server2: Year 9, 10 and 11. Server3: Year 12 and 13. I strongly agree with clareq that this functionality is sadly lacking in Frog user import and the only workaround is a CSV or manually change each user that comes to you. I have a third party AD SIMS import tool that has this functionality and creates the users "Home Drives" in Active Directory on the correct server (when the student starts) based on year group. This like Frog is an overnight import from SIMS. So why can’t Frog be a bit more flexible to soot a common school scenario. You do have to do it a lot more than once a year. What about starters during the academic year? That 5 minutes flat than starts to add up. Also how often do Network admins get passed the information that you have a new starter/s. I can tell you almost never..... Frog automatic user imports from SIMS start to look a little less automatic!!
-
@clareq what is your Ideas name/heading as I cant find it!!!

How would Frog know they haven’t asked anyone!! I had this problem when we got Frog as we split year groups over different servers and it’s such a pain to export to CSV update the year group UNC paths and then re-import. Asked installer at the time and he told me that’s just the way it is… I know one other local school with the same problem. Will point them to your Frog community suggestion so we can vote it up.

Do we really need parental consent as the photo is only on the ID card and destroyed from there printing system once card is printed? The photo is already stored in SIMS/Frog/AD so should we need parental consent for that in the first place? Photo is used just to stop them stealing each other’s cards and using them to pay for there dinner?

I think I know the answer to this but I’ve been asked to do a bit of research, so thought I’d ask the experts. Are we are breaking any data protection or laws by letting the School catering company issue ID smart cards with SIMS photographs and names on to the students for them to buy lunches etc? Data sent to catering company on password protected ZIP Should we have parental consent for this?

I believe all 3 systems (Ruckus and Aruba do as I have worked with both systems)have captive portal functionality that can authenticate to an internal database of users/ gest passes or Active Directory for existing users.

Frog VLE Single Sign On?

Frog Live is free as part of your Frog Teacher VLE Support.. -
Well I’ve managed to hack a VBscript together that dose the job. Below I have posted the code for reference if anyone has the same problem. I in no way encourage direct access to the Capita SIMS MSSQL database and this was only done as a last resort. Doing so to the live SIMS database could brake Capita’s terms and conditions. But backup copies of the MSSQL database are not included in this, so I recommend you only work on a backup SIMS MSSQL database. By using this script you take full responsibility for any copyright or data protection issues. I do not provide any guarantees, warranty or support with this script. Use of the script is entirely at your own risk. Devizes Classroom Booking System

Send @imullings a PM. It's his booking system and he might be able to help you out. -
I’ve been tasked with updating the staff photos in SIMS and I’ve come across an annoying problem. There doesn’t seam to be a way to bulk import like you can for the students and individually loading 300 photos one by one isn’t an option. I’ve got all of the photos in a directory with filenames based on the internal Sims database ID for the relevant member of staff. As bulk import for staff isn’t built into SIMS has anyone written a vbscript to load the photos (in the non-supported way) directly into the photos table in the MSSQL database? Or can some body help me write one as my scripting is a bit more like just copy and pasting.

Ok don’t know much about Blackberrys as I’m an Apple man. Can someone advise me of the best Blackberry modal for SMT. This is for them so sink email and calendars with outlook 2003. But nothing to cutting edge and fancy.

Frog - Slow ! Pulling my hair out
MicrodigitUK replied to FragglePete's topic in Virtual Learning Platforms
Why does FrogLive reserve more memory than explorer? That can’t be right and is probably just sloppy Visual Studio coding. It also won’t help things and will lead to slowing the workstations down. -
Frog - Slow ! Pulling my hair out
MicrodigitUK replied to FragglePete's topic in Virtual Learning Platforms
You would of thought it was the maximum number of students and staff in school, but I doubt it. I think Frogtrade rally need to look into this ASAP as more and more schools implement Frog with Frog Live it seems that the PHP processing can’t cope. Most of the PHP requests are replicated with multiple users pulling up the same pages/content. That’s where PHP accelerators come in to play by cashing and reusing popular content. This saves the server having to process every signal PHP request for the same page/content. -

Frog - Slow ! Pulling my hair out
MicrodigitUK replied to FragglePete's topic in Virtual Learning Platforms
I’m thinking this might be a Frog live related issue with PHP logon requests. I know when another school in Wilts (beginning with S) lunched Frog to students had a problem with speed at the start of lessons. Might be worth giving them a ring and see if they are still having this issue. I currently don’t have any problems with speed but not using Frog Live. Problem with Frog live is you go from only the students needing to access Frog logging to, all users on the network logging on then also logging onto Frog. I know of another two school using Moodle that had similar problems when launching the VLE as the home page. The solution to this was a PHP accelerator. I’m not a Frog expert but to my knowledge they don’t use any PHP accelerators. This would be a development problem for Frogtrade to look at. I’m going to launch the Frog live for all users soon (next couple of weeks)so will let you know what happens to speed. -

@wesleyw Any luck yet? It must be Exchange - Permissions on Mailboxes, if you can’t get in with another user but you can with the mailbox owner.
-
Also see this Microsoft artical: Error when you use an IMAP4 client or a POP3 client to log on to a delegate mailbox of Exchange Server 2007: "800cccd1" And just as a random thought give another test user full access to a user’s mailbox and try doing it with the test user. Microsoft might have restricted the bog standard administrator account. So try "schooldomain\test\me"

Did you upgrade to Exchange Server 2007 SP1 Rollup Update 4? Because I just read this one: POP3 and IMAP4 clients cannot connect to a server that is running Exchange 2007 Looks like microsoft stopd support and then put it back in!!!!!
