  1. OK I haven’t tried this but, on a Ruckus ZD 3000 can I team up the 2 NICs to my core switch to give me a 2Gb Ethernet connection. And if yes how? I have HP Procurve core switch that I would like to plug the ZD in with the teamed 2Gb Ethernet connection.
  2. To configure a DNS server to use forwarders using the Windows interface Open DNS Manager. In the console tree, click the applicable DNS server. Where? DNS/Applicable DNS server On the Action menu, click Properties. On the Forwarders tab, under DNS domain, click a domain name. Under Selected domain's forwarder IP address list, type the IP address of a forwarder, and then click Add. Add the two SWGFL DNS server IP addresses to this list of forwarders. Then test and it should now work.
  3. On your new Server2008r2 setup you need to add the setings from the SWGFL as DNS forward addresses. Your old RM cc3 network would have been set up like this. So if your local (on site) DNS server can't resolve the address it forwards it to the SWGFL DNS servers. Once done your hosts should then be able to resolve external names like the staff proxy one. I expect if you currently try and ping somthing like google.co.uk from the command line it can't resolv the address. Once the local DNS server is set up to forward unresolved addresses to the SWGFL it will start working.
  4. We currently have Extricom 802.11n kit site wide. Let’s just say not impressed and wish the mony had been spent on another solution. We are now in the slow process of replacing the Extricom bit by bit as we can afford it with Ruckus. Sorry Extricom but the New Ruckus kit outperforms, hands down. I wish the school had never purchased the Extricom kit… What a waste of money. Also used Aruba kit at an old school and would recommend that also. Ruckus or Aruba I would personally recommend.
  5. This is all well and good but why didn't we get any notice. We only use SSO kit for all staff and students and its just confused all of our users to why they are geting asked for this personal info. @ jamesbmarshall Why didn't Microsoft inplement an option to switch this message off if using Live@Edu SSO Kit? Sorry but its a bit of a joke that changes where made and admin users where not given any notice.
  6. Just do what I did and pay someone to do it for you! Have a look at SalamanderSoft Limited - Salamander Active Directory What I like about it is, it dose what you need and also creates all of your class, tutor, year and house groups. I'v then built on this functanalaty and imported photos into AD using ther free tool. I'v also managed to sync all of the AD groups made by salamandersoft to my live@edu via Olysync. For an easy life just pay for a tool to do the job.
  7. I would recommended SANmelody as the ideal storage solution to use your MAS60 in a true hyper-v failover cluster. Also for full failover you would also need 2 SANs. So if you start of now with sanmelody you could bring in a second MAS60 at a later date and it will do all of the mirroring and load balance for hyper-v.
  8. It's one of 2 things. 1) the firmware needs upgrading on switch 2) the switch dose not support th new 802.11n APs I hope the issue is 1. Do you have support on the switch? If not you will need to bye some to get firmware download.
  9. We have 15 of the iTech Music desks for our mac minis. iTech will do custom builds I know because I have had some modifications and additions done to mine. So you can just get the Music desks build without the monitor bits.
  10. And me. We're not Worthy to view EDIT 2012 Streaming!!!!
  11. Frog keeps a encrypted copy of all passwords in its database. It checks against the Frog copy of password first and only if it fails it will try the password against AD using LDAP. Frog have designed it like this for speed so it dose not need to authenticate to your domain controlers every time. Unfortunatly that means that if you change a password the old one will continue to work as its stored on Frog, up until the point you use the new one and it checks it via LDAP.
  12. Yes Extricom needs DHCP responses to be unicast rather than multicast because of the way the channal blanket works. Basically because of the time slicing round robin, if a client asks DHCP for an IP, when it responds it might be the tern of a AP at the other end of the building. So the client might not get a IP. if it dose that's just luck. See this link it should help you configure your DHCP server. http://www.askdavetaylor.com/dhcp_unicast_broadcast_flag.html
  13. Also I know a realy good tech that can do configuration and setup of Aruba kit that works for REACT Innovative Solutions called Nick Walters. There's nothing he can't fix when it comes to Aruba. REACT was once the only UK distributor of Aruba kit back in the day.....

  15. I like this idea. What happens if students email themselves? Only asking as some students use email to get work into school?
  16. Can't you do that though? Just buy 10.7 and the server app should do fine for licencing. Why do you need to buy 10.6? If you read the licence for 10.7 you could use another 10.7 computer to copy it from but you can't use and run on 2 computers at a time and would need to wipe the original computer (or put 10.5 on that) if you dont buy another copy of 10.7. So just buy another copy of lion and you can start using the donner computer again. 2. Permitted License Uses and Restrictions. A. Single Use. This License allows you to install, use and run one (1) copy of the Apple Software on a single Apple-labeled computer at a time. You agree not to install, use or run the Apple Software on any non-Apple-labeled computer, or to enable others to do so. This License does not allow the Apple Software to exist on more than one computer at a time, and you may not make the Apple Software available over a network where it could be used by multiple computers at the same time.
  17. We use the PaperCut with shared accounts and don’t give anyone credit on their personal accounts. We use the shared accounts as department accounts, similar to how most schools do on their photocopiers. Each department has a pin code and they enter that code in the popup window to release there prints. Also for students/pupils printing each department has a second student pin code. The only difference being that the student codes change twice a day. (Done with a simple script and scheduled task) This is to stop students memorizing pin codes. Codes are published in staff section of intranet/VLE, so only staff give out the code when they want students to print.
  18. @ihaveaproblem How did you get on with Microsoft support? Did you try my instructions? Is it now working for you?
  19. On your local AD DNS server just add a record to point to the LEA IP address. E.g a new A record of "proxy" would then have a FQDN of "proxy.domain.internal". Replace domain.internal with the full name of your domain. Job done...
  20. From 10.6.8 Safari has auto athentication in a AD golden triangle setup. If you use the FQDN in the proxy setings, Kerberos Proxy Authentication will work. The proxy needs to be referenced by the fully qualified domain name so the key chain knows what to use. So if your proxy setings just have IP or a short name like "proxy", it will fail. Try using "proxy.domain.internal" and it should authenticate with the loged on domain.internal user on the Mac.
  21. Background is: I’m about to do a migration from Exchange 2003 to Live@edu. I have setup OLsync and have it importing a test set of users from AD. I have an issue where all of the AD users that have an Exchange 2003 mailbox get put on to Live@edu as a “MailUser”. This means that they have no Mailbox on Live@edu. But if I sync a user WITHOUT an Exchange 2003 mailbox to Live@edu it creates the user as a type “Mailbox”. So that user has a Mailbox on Live@edu and that’s what I want. I had a good dig through OLsync and the Microsoft documentation but can’t find the answer to my question: How do I force OLsync to make all users of type “Mailbox”? Because I don’t want any MailUsers created on Live@edu, just Mailboxs.
  22. OK som bits where missing so see the new version of instructions =====OLSync SIMSphoto Setup===== In “FIM Synchronization Service Manager” Go to “Metaverse Designer” Double click “SyncObject” Click “New attribute” button Create New Attribute Attribute name: “thumbnailPhoto” Attribute type: “Binary (non-indexable)” Then click “OK” to close And click "OK" to close "Add Attribute To Object Type" window go to “Management Agents” tab Double click “OnPremise” Open “Select Attributes” Tick "Show All" Tick “thumbnailPhoto” Open “Configure Attribute Flow” In Build Attribute Flow select the following: * Data source object type: “user” * Data source attribute: “thumbnailPhoto” * Mapping Type: “Direct” * Flow Direction: “Import” * Metaverse object type: “SyncObject” * Metaverse attribute: “ thumbnailPhoto” Then click “New” And click “OK” Double click “Hosted” Open “Configure Attributes” Click on the “New…” button to make a New Attribute * Name: “Picture” * Type: “Binary” * Then click “OK” Open “Define Object Type” Click on “MailUser” and highlight Click “Edit…” Add “Picture” to “May have attributes” Click “OK” Click on “Mailbox” and highlight Click “Edit…” Add “Picture” to “May have attributes” Click “OK” Open “Configure Attribute Flow” In Build Attribute Flow select the following: * Data source object type: “MailUser” * Data source attribute: “Picture” * Mapping Type: “Direct” * Flow Direction: “Export” * Metaverse object type: “SyncObject” * Metaverse attribute: “ thumbnailPhoto” Then click “New” Also In Build Attribute Flow select the following: * Data source object type: “Mailbox” * Data source attribute: “Picture” * Mapping Type: “Direct” * Flow Direction: “Export” * Metaverse object type: “SyncObject” * Metaverse attribute: “ thumbnailPhoto” Then click “New” And click “OK” Close “FIM Synchronization Service Manager” Restart “Forefrount Identity Manager Synchronization Service” in services Then run a user sync with live@edu Open live@edu and with a bit of luck all of the SIMS photos will now be in there.
  23. OK, I have just got Live@Edu with all of the Photos from SIMS loaded via AD thumbnailPhoto. 24. We have a music room with the MIDI keyboards and computers built into the desks. http://www.itechdesking.co.uk/products-verso-tower-music.php That stops them unplugging things. And we just don't get any issues with moving things, as they can't get to them. Feel free to pop in and have a look Pete. You know I'm just down the road.
