  1. Ummm.... That is how things should be wired.
  2. If it gets quite around here later, I'm replacing the handles on our kitchen knives. Nice walnut instead of the (now cracked) plastic Sabatier used. Mrs_C has accepted that we don't wash knives in the dishwasher any more...
  3. Winter gloves - the Dr Zoidberg looking ones are warmer. Earplugs - Some helmets are quieter than others - it isn't just loud 'zorsts! I get a lot of wind noise from my Shoei Quest.
  4. All helmets meet the required standards. More expensive ones may be more comfortable, or last longer, whatever. A visor that takes "Pin Lock" inserts are worth looking for. You effectively double glaze your visor; this cuts down condensation. You can also get a photo-chromic insert. Much easier than fiddling with sunglasses.
  5. All the gear - all the time. So, at a minimum helmet, good gloves, jacket, trousers, and boots. Yes, it will cost, but thete is qlso eblag, and several bike pages on farsebook. Biker Booty is fairly active. There is always going to be a trade off between being protected, and getting too hot (at this time of year). Or being warm enough or lookin like the Michelin Man in winter. Reinforced jeans and a vented jacket for me at the moment. If you plan to commute through the winter, see if it will run heated grips. They are worth their weight in gold! See if you can squeeze the out of the dealer...
  6. As with most things, I find the mechanics relatively easy, but the "art" hard...
  7. A projector and screen doesn't commit you to using it instead of the whiteboard (assuming screen pulls down over board) whereas a TV will be in the way. Depends of course on users, level, subject etc.
  8. Are they cruising around in packs!? Your experience of Chinese bikes pretty much mirrors everything I've heard.
  9. It changes every time the wind blows. If you are over the age threshold, doing 'direct access' might be an option. Skip the intermediate steps. I think you HAVE to have lessons with an instructor as you need to be riding c500cc bikes and it does cost.
  10. I wonder if we can manage negative scores this year...?
  11. Every so often, for no apparent reason:-
  12. I did wonder how long it would take for the Mugwump Foreign Secretary to turn up.
  13. Really? I wonder what percentage cost it really is? Do you think it would reduce your ticket by as much as a ha'penny?
  14. Afraid I'm only a "one step up from a user" here. We are currently upgrading all of our network, but I don't know any details (other than Aerohive APs are going in around me as I type)
  15. Just putting it out there that the College is recruiting in the IT field. I can tell you little about the roles that isn't in the ads. Employment Opportunities
  16. Or use white 16mm sq trunking right down in the corner between wall & floor.
  17. Orthotics - If the foot condition is serious enough can be prescribed by a specialist.
  18. And very few people realise that the 'spokes' on their emblem are actually crossed tuning forks. To the OP, My guess is that what you really need is a sub, but don't necessarily need any more/different hf drivers.
  19. Give it time... It will broaden their outlook!
  20. Radio Paradise. A good mix of music, no adverts, DJ selected, and the only interruptions are a few "You've just heard/Next Up/Bung us a $few please".
  21. Sounds like 100V to me. Or, as Chris says, "A bodge".
  22. 1st pic certainly looks like VRI, 2nd is steel wire armour.
  23. Sounds more like VRI.
  24. I've got one... and still can't find where the wiring to a defunct outside light (may or may not) be fed from. No power on the cable, but no idea why, or where it was once connected. Butt crimps on the ends, and tucked up into the eaves for now.
  25. There's a lot of rot being talked up to create work for electricians, so what if a fuse board was 70's? So long as it isn't damaged; it was safe then, no reason it isn't safe now. Circuit breakers, and RCDs are an improvement, but there is no requirement to change them, unless you are doing a major re-wire. The bodgery a "professional" had done on Mrs_C's house was astounding. You can get plug in ceiling roses.
