  1. They are a brilliant microphone for this application... except they are terrible at rejecting mobile phone signal. Every handshake to the network will be picked up unless you can get the speaker to turn their phone OFF - not silent. You can get mounts that actually work, but you will have to pay for them. The AKG 747 system is good, but see above. I have used a mount with a rubber diaphragm before; fairly sure it came from Canford Audio, but I can't see it in their catalogue.
  2. Having watched my Direct Access instructor narrowly avoid serious grief doing just that, my first mod to the bike was adding a bleeper on the indicators. It waits a set time, then increasing volume bleeps until you cancel. Muted if you have the brakes on. Azonic Soloutions
  3. Should have said - "and at this time of year, you start getting cold!" Dr Zoiberg gloves are a good start; heated grips are a thing of wonder.
  4. Yes; then after a while it becomes fun!
  5. Avast behind.... ARRRR... I'll get me coat.
  6. Currently valued at 0.80p
  7. If you are somewhere dodgy, two visible locks. A chain around a lamppost, and a disk lock for example. Scrotes with a van will move on if it looks like it will take too long.
  8. Well known fact - red bikes are faster. Just like cars.
  9. Have you found Biker Booty on @rsebook? All sorts on there.
  10. Interesting - a post in the Blue Room this morning. Not quite where the OP is now, but apposite.
  11. After you've checked the breaks - check the BRAKES.
  12. LED is probably the way to go. BUT - really cheap ones won't do nice flesh tones. They will also not dim nicely to black. Important for performance, maybe less so in a drama lesson. If you go the LED route, you will need to route non-dimmed mains to the rig, as well as a DMX (control signal) line. Keep the dimmers (or new ones) as you are bound to need specials at some point. LED profiles are available, but ££Many. Invest in infra-structure first, then lanterns, then toys. Can I commend the Blue Room again? Full of people who have asked the same question, and have got sensible answers for pros in the lighting trade. The link it to a "Beginners" sub-fora, the best place to ask. (saves me moving it later! )
  13. Depending how big it is, I'd agree with 3s. If it is BIG - try Harkness Hall. Their website seems borked.
  14. I've never (as far as I recall ) not eaten it. Not that I go out of my way or anything, but don't understand a passionate debate. Not like Marmite...
  15. When Calder Hall was switched on, we were told electricity would be free by the turn of the century. I'm still waiting. ..
  16. No go. FF on Android. Goes to a google search for [img. Strange... I have seen the film, stunning.
  17. Found on Fbook - A tube map of Roman Roads
  18. American Gods - Neil Gaiman. Strange and compelling.
  19. TL:DR May have already been posted...
  20. Only cnuts wear those.
  21. There's a word for them. SQUID:-Stupid Quick Under-dressed Imminently Dead. Buying second hand boots / leathers / jackets / trousers on e-blag or one of the many f@cebook groups can save you oodles of cash. Not gloves, your fit is too variable, and obviously (I hope) not helmets. You don't know the history.
  22. I'd avoid Chinese or Korean. They are now where Japan was in the 60s & early 70s. Bikes with the strength of cheese, and a resale value of less than nothing.
  23. There's more chance of them paying their tax than there is of them paying this fine...
