Revenge on the builders who have trashed the staffroom (salt instead of sugar in the sugar bowl)? Running around in wigs and costumes from the drama department to freak the site manager out when he glances up and looks at his CCTV screens?

And when it crashes, it'll be your fault because you were sitting in it wrong.....

BBC - Steve Strange Dies Aged Just 55 RIP Steve - a true music pioneer. I didn't appreciate it much at the time but looking back you realise just how ground-breaking it all was.

Yes, thanks, I did just that and everything seems fine now.

Not having a good day. An enterprising member of staff has attempted to reset the perms on the HDD in their iMAC which is running 10.6.8. Don't ask me why. The machine had a hissy fit apparently, they restarted it, and now it doesn't boot. Wonderful. I've used Single User Mode and run fsck -fy which states that the file system was modified and a subsequent repeat says all is good, but the machine will still not boot. In verbose mode it just sits at Waiting for DSMOS... Given what it went through I guess I need to reset all the permissions? A quick Google turns up some helpful stuff but our web filter classifies all the sites as web chat so I cant see them. And I left my smartphone at home today. Help much appreciated!

Do you by any chance have a member of staff called Ruth or Russell Hamshar?
-
Do you have remote access set up for your staff? With a bit of trickery it's possible to join a PC to AD if you know how if you don't have admin rights.

Hi, we have just acquired a new badge making machine and it was bundled with the Trust ID Classic software. We can't get an activation code by using either the automatic or manual means of activation. So we're stuck atm with a 30 day trial. Using the automatic method tells us there was a problem connecting to the activation server, and using the manual method tells us the software could not be activated at this time - status=3 Tried to do it off site as well in case it was our proxy / firewall but encountered the same problems. Thought I'd post on here whilst waiting for a response from Trust ID Has anyone else had this issue?

[ipad] Out of Warranty Repairs - Any experiences / advice
tech_guy replied to rich_tech's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
Black screen? Flashing? Lines? Drop it. Seriously. It worked for me with an iPad 2. I didn't want to take it apart / use a heat-gun, etc and found this: https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/75132/Dropped+iPad+and+now+display+is+not+working+correctly. -
The sky has gone that dense very white cloud and it's very cold - I think we're going to have snow at some point tonight in the mad bad Midlands where I am! Pita as I live 20 miles from work!

[news] Wheelie bin given parking ticket in Carmarthen

Ace that he did it. Doesn't anyone have a sense of humour anymore - i.e. his bosses? -
Resurrecting an old thread. Filezilla now seems to come bundled with a few extras now that you can't seem to avoid during install - such browser 'helpers' and search redirect - pita as I had to spend most of last night cleaning up a friend's laptop after he had upgraded to the latest and greatest version. Is SmartFTP worth a punt as an alternative?

I need to do something as I've gained a stone in the last sixth months - all around the belly which apparently isn't good for an old duffer like me. The problem is I like my food too much and my wife is an excellent cook! I need to up the exercise! I've got a fitbit one and it's agreat device for logging your activity and setting targets. Does anyone else on here have one?
