Dell HP through resellers are worth a look. ive found Misco and CCS Media very helpful Stone Computers Server are also good (intel chassis & mobo)

surely if you are using a discrete card an athlon FM2 is a better bet?

In the budget your spending Intel is going to be the way to go, as others have said the FX line is dead in the water, the FM2 platform was never intended to compete with in anything more than the budget to mid range. Unless AMD completely change their thinking they are leaving Intel to making the uber performance x86 chips.

@3s-gtech that pretty much some's up my thinking after looking at some extra numbers, a good FM2 board with a 4 core athlon sounds the way to go. out of interest which FM2 boards have you used. ive always been an Asus fan but having a couple of failures has dented the brand for me (the ASROCK FM2 look interesting)

its interesting what options are available, for me an i5 sits in the sweet spot for cost/performance. [slight thread hijack] im in a similar quandry as it looks like my old AM3 system has bitten the dust (board/CPU ) so have been looking myself at options for a cheap replacement. as ive already got 8GB RAM an HD6870 and a good PSU and case, an FM2 system does look appealing for the extra cores for the cash over a i3/i5 as they are very cheap for a 4core cpu.Thing is if i get an A10 based apu that kinda makes the HD6870 redundant? (amds specs are a little iffy as they have changed the terminology) FM2 athlon's might be an option with the HD6870 also. Anyone actually used used and of the A10 model apu's? For reference the main thing the box be used for is SC2 WoW and some mucking about with VM's [/slight thread hijack]

there is an RC3/4 release which there is a link for download actually inside the forums, however i dont think ADV proxy has been ported to 3.1 yet..

Advanced Proxy add-on for IPCop and SmoothWall might be of some use although some of it is a little old. smoothwall express is soon to release V3.1 which has alot of mods of 3 built into it

ive been looking at one of these Samsung 840 EVO 120GB 2.5 inch Basic SATA Solid State Drive: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories looks like a good price for a samsung drive, im assuming the basic drive is slighty neutered compared to the larger capacities

using kyocera FS3920's here there decent printers, good consumables life, not as good as the old ones. recent purchased a HP P3015DN and this looks to be a good printer for the money (around £400) not sure on the toner life 30ppm and its not massive LJ4200's do live forever!

your right a good quality PSU should be cheap (all of them should be bronze rated as a min requirement imo). and the lower rated versions 200w-300w should be more avaliable at reasonable money, an i3 sat surfing the web isnt going to need any more than that, but you still pay a premium for it.

finished removing XP over the summer think there are still a couple of XP clients hidden in corner but these are being hunted down

thing is a better quality unit is actually going to delivery the stated output in a clean manner and be reasonably efficient. Enermax did do a modular 430/450 unit which went into a couple of game/workstation boxes and dealt with all of those without complaint and was bronze rated it wasnt that cheap at the time mind you.

Asaka 350W has been sat in my I3 for the last year without fault. nice selection of cable and a decent length, was under £40.00 very impressed (nice weight to it good sized fan) i have used antec and corsair in the past as well. cheap psu's make me cringe

sounds better, the count will go up till the min limit has been reached and then clients will activate rather than sit in the grace period

worth mentioning that if you install windows or office with a KMS key it will attempt to update your DNS and the srv records which can mean the machine get pointed to an incorrect host (ive had this before)

id say firewall, even if its turned off any services which are disabled remain disabled might be worth checking. theres a nice category name "KMS Keymanagement" in the firewall rules on the server and the client.
