I would suggest talking to @Net-Ctrl about the Ruckus Cloud controller, we are looking at it for a world wide deployment of Ruckus for the company I work for with them

Designed our own in-house and got the local sparkies to fit it, much much cheaper than any commercial offering. Bought all the cameras and DVRs from here https://cctvdirect.co.uk/ had about 60 cameras around the site (2 sites) and it all gridded to one screen as the units were all in the same range.

You will find plenty of people for Smoothwall on the forum as well as others. Have a search as we have many many threads on what to buy / do / use.

I've used Borri Rotation Plus's before they were good, few niggles on the SNMP so had to get shouty but they did resolve issues, where I am now we have pair of Riello units, including one monster unit that dwarfs that Eaton further up the thread

Depends what you are conecting to them I would say. I'm just getting some wide-screen ones where I work as they will be mostly used with Laptops which are all near enough wide screen now.

Sorry my explanation was a bit confusing, I would advise, if you truly need 4 vCPUs, that you run them as 4x Sockets with 1 core each, so you have a total of 4 CPUs showing in Task Manager.

There is a bit more to it than the just do no more than 4 I should point out before someone shouts out that its not quite that accurate as it depends on your original CPU, how many cores it has etc... but as a rule of thumb that should stand you in a reasonable position you shouldnt' need more than 4 virtual CPUs and also ensure you use Sockets not Cores in the vCPU settings as Sockets are more efficient than Cores in virtualsation so you would do 4 Sockets of 1 core rather than 1 socket with 4 cores.

Maybe someone like Isis concepts - ISIS Concepts do something? If not speak to them they are very helpful

8vCPUs will not be helping your issue, without getting into the science behind it (which will destroy your mind as its all about Numa nodes and then how virtual and real CPUs are different etc...), 4vCPUs is the most you should ever put on a VM due to that and if you go above it its likely to have the complete opposite affect to what you think it will.

Because the fax machine is secure yes? You never get any risk of someone picking 2 faxes up by accident or the line being intercepted like an encrypted email..... I would suggest raising that one with those instant on sending highly confidential and sensitive data via the 1970s. 7Zip does Zip and Encrypt for free, they could send that and if they love the fax, fax you the password to go with it!

You could always do what I have done which is buy pre-terminated fibre and pull that through, no messing or fuss you just measure, buy and then buy a patch panel and clip it in, we did 3 or 4 runs of that no issues and when I had a firm in for a really complex run we had them test it all and everything was all good and fine no issues so it worked well Certainly a lot cheaper than buying the correct tools as the correct optical test meter will be a LOT of money to buy as are fusion splicers (much easier to splice than faff with making your own plugs now a days).

If its in GPS (or whatever its called today as it changes name so frequently) then State schools can just pick from that list no questions asked in most cases. I personally swear by Toshiba kit but know a few on here had a bad run so depends clearly on your reseller. Where I work now we have Canon and they just seem to work but we don't hammer anywhere as much as education but I do think a lot depends on the reseller and support teams, poorly maintained kit of any make will be a disaster but good maintenance should be a saving grace.
