  1. I thought about a loop but been a primary the kids don't loop the outlets. If there is a loop on the patch panels would it not be there all the time until it was remove rather than be ok after a reboot?
  2. Had a few issues recently. We have 2 hyper v hosts and a separate physical file server Our switches are 4 x Netgear FS750t2 and 1 Netgear gigabit switch. (Can't remember model off hand). Randomly (possibly couple of times a week) the whole network stops working. No one can access resources, internet doesn't work etc If I go on a host I can access the file shares on other servers fine so dns and connectivity between them is working. My machine is connected into same gig switch as servers but mine stops working too. It must have happened over the weekend. This morning I just rebooted the 4 Netgear switches, not even the server one, and things started working straight away. Any ideas what might be happening? I'm thinking faulty switch or some issue that's locking the switches up. I appreciate they are old switches which need replacing. They are browsable but no log on them. Just shows which ports are connected etc. Thanks.
  3. Thanks. Sorted it in the end. Needed to add ip-tables stuff to eth1 to allowing incoming http connections.
  4. Did you get to the bottom of this in the end?
  5. Hi, we are just trialling Foldr and wonder if anyone can help me with external setup. Works fine internally. The setup is as follows: http://foldr.externaldomain is on Godaddy DNS I have forwarded this to our static IP on a plusnet router. Doing mxtoolbox confirms this is in place. On the router I have put a port forward in place for all traffic on 443 to forward to internal IP of 192.168.1.2 192.168.1.2 is eth1, 10.10.6.236/24 is on eth0 on the Foldr VM. Eth0 is main network. I have done set-routes eth1, 10.10.6.236/24 via 192.168.1.2 Everything works internally, just trying to get it working externally but struggling at the moment. Is there anything wrong on the setup anywhere? Thanks
  6. I've been out of the office so got this info second hand from my tech. Apparently several computers froze at the same time - mouse, keyboard etc. They froze for about 5 minutes then came back online. The only error I can see in event log on the main domain controller is below. The DC is visualised and there are no errors on the host server. Does anyone have any suggestions please? 7. @Al_NetSupport AL_NetSupport Even Ruckus the dog likes a NetSupport coffee
  8. We use bromcom. We used to have it hosted here, but now we pay for the cloud version. Apart from occasional downtime, it works great for us. Support is great and always answer the phone. We don't use things like behaviour and assessment but they do those also. I know Bromcom recently won the Telford and Wrekin contract.
  9. Hi, We have an oldish Dell server running 2012 Not R2. It has hyper V installed. We have been using Veeam to replicate servers to it and its been working fine. Did windows updates at the weekend and now the replication fails. Looking in services, the Hyper V Virtual machine management starts, but none of the other services will start. They all say: Started then stopped, some services stop automatically when not in use. Is it a case of remove all the latest windows updates and seen which one is the issue?
  10. Have you tried NetSupport DNA? We didn't have a solution in place, and decided on Netsupport. In reality it just works. There are lots of e-safety categories, which are all customise-able. If anyone types in a keyword it comes up as an alert. At BETT they were showcasing the new version which also does a video of the phrase been typed in.
  11. Yes, we had to grind the old cabinet apart to get the patch panels out without re-wiring so was covering the smoke detector
  12. We want a pic of him in your office mate
  13. Yes its a 37u cabinet. Basically put 5 patches at the bottom, then 4 switches, then further 4 patches. Keep the wires to 50cm. The yellow ones are the phones, that are patched into a different switch. The majority of phones are on the top patch panel so I put that one nearest the phone switch
  14. It feels great. Can actually see the servers and replace hard drives where necessary as apposed to moving loads of network cables out of the way. Took me 11 hours. Someone had put the cables to the patch panels through various slots at the back, so I ended up grinding the cabinet down !
  15. This was my job yesterday after a couple of months planning. Replace old cabinet, install new and tidy up
  16. I use Mass Image compressor https://sourceforge.net/projects/icompress/
  17. My haul from yesterday - I also got a small Ruckus dog from the Ruckus stand Didn't see much of any interest really
  18. Have we got a freebies thread yet to see what people have picked up today? Planning who to pass by tomorrow Thanks
  19. Not rushing round like I did last year. I'm looking at: Office 365 / Sharepoint / Iam cloud Cashless payments Meeting current suppliers: AC Leigh, ICT Direct, Netsupport
  20. We have had endless demo's but feedback from other schools on Parent Pay isn't great. Neither is it great on accountant forums. We have looked at sQuid but not made a decision yet. Wisepay are at Bett so will be having a chat with them
  21. Hi I have just got WSUS up and working correctly. However, staff get pop ups saying updates are ready to be installed (Windows 10 Pro) I have policies set as follows: Allow non-admin to receive notifications DISABLED. Configure automatic updates - 3 Auto download and notify for install Install during maintenance DISABLED Do not display updates and shutdown ENABLED Turn off auto restart - 7am to 6pm I can't see anything in there that would turn off the Windows 10 pop up box. Any ideas? Thanks
  22. Save me a notepad
  23. For those going to BETT I can't reiterate enough how positive our NetSupport experience has been. We manage multiple sites and can remote control them all with DNA (even better when version 4.4 comes out ). e-Safety monitoring, hardware / software inventory and web reporting are all amazing. I'm not going to mention any other companies in this thread but can only say pop by and see the NetSupport staff and see what amazing value you get for your money. They are always developing the product and listen to features Network Managers would like so its a good opportunity to have your say in the future development.
