I agree with Tim. Ours is running at 14 degrees currently and alerts us above 20

Thanks mate I've added them so hopefully that's fixed it

Just wondering if anyone had any more idea on this. Unfortuntely staff (non-admin) still get a big blue box saying updates are ready, click here. These are my current GPO settings If anyone could help that would be great. Thanks

Well I've just followed Increasing the number of IP addresses in DHCP scope – windowstricks.in and got it working. It creates the new Scope outside of the superscope though. Does that matter? It also involves deleting the old one so will be some downtime. Just need to pluck up the courage to do it in production. I'm presuming once I've done that all I should then need to do is change the subnet mask on all the servers and switches

Hi, At present we have a superscope in DHCP (not my setup) 10.10.6.0 = computers, servers switches 7.0 - 10.0 not really used However each scope EG 6.0 has subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 so only 254 devices. I'd like to extend one of these. I've copied the dhcp file over to a non-domain test server to play about with it. If I delete the 7.0 and the 6.0 I can then create a new 6.0 with 255.255.254.0 giving me 510 devices through to 7.254. The DC's are virtual. What is the best way of doing this in production as once I delete the scope nothing will be able to connect to anything until I recreate it and all the options such as router, dns etc. Thanks

Redoing the school website
karldenton replied to timbo343's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
+1 for Wordpress. Just be careful who its hosted with. On godaddy ours seems really slow. On 1and1 it works fine. -
Hi, For some reason (don't ask) I decided to delete a hyper v snapshot this morning. When it has merged them, Its got to 80% and I've calculated we haven't got enough disk space for it to complete the merge. Can I delete them manually? We have some space on the C drive if I could copy the snapshot to there and merge it from there? Any ideas please? Thanks PS the machines are on the host not a storage device

Have a chat with Virtue technologies. They did ours. Brilliant service and support

Thanks Bruce. Was that an issue with same Netgear ones or the HP ones I'm looking to buy? Thanks.
-
I agree. They are usually understanding about ICT stuff. Will get some costs. I was looking at HP 1810-48g / HP 2510g or something equivalent.

OK, just an update on this. Its half term this week so plugged the 4 switches on there own Gig connection to the server switch so they are no daisy chained. Had a few issues with 2 switches not working. Turns out the 2 ports I had connected them to on the main switch were not working. I'm thinking the main switch is on its way out. I've since downloaded spice works to monitor usage. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to bring back any data. I have set SNMP up on the switch and spiceworks recognises them but doesn't show any data. I've updated the firmware and enabled STP but yes, the switches are running fairly hot.

Exa Networks - Anyone use them?
karldenton replied to chrisjako's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Used them before at a previous school. Moved from Redstone. Exa were great. Surfprotect was good too. -

I've had this on our Windows 10. Someone else suggested if you have upgraded a machine rather than fresh install then it sets it to US -
I've just purchased a Liebert PSI rackmounted. Does the job create so far. Software isn't amazing though
-
Thanks. I'll connect them into the main switch and see how I get on UnFortunately the Netgear interface isn't great. Stp is all or nothing. There are no port usage stats just tx and rx packets. None were particularly high.
-
All the switches are in the same network cabinet, apart from 1 that is connected via fibre. The routing is done at a computer level with default gateway set (sophos utm) We have around 60 devices connected to the network. There are no vlans. No, the switches are daisy chained. 1 has a gig connection to 2 2 to 3 3 to 4 4 has a gig fibre connection to 5 (server switch) I did think late this afternoon that I should try connecting the 4 switches each into there own port on the server switch rather than daisy chain. The software on the nether switches doesn't support stacking on our firmware. Like I say the server switch is flashing correctly but the rest go crazy all at the same time.
-
One thing I have noticed is that apart from the server switch, the rest are all flashing at the same time on every connected device. No tx/rx errors on any port on any switch
-
This is our switch plan. Number 5 is at the bottom. The lights on the FS750t2 are constantly pulsing whereas the gig switch only pulse when there is activity
-
Thanks, I presume its a take the top off and have a look for capacitor that looks like its burning out
-
But yesterday morning when we had the issue, I rebooted the switches and everything worked again, so suspecting not a loop
-
No we don't run dedup. I was thinking a loop too but wouldn't have thought a re-boot of the switch would have fixed it. I'll pay more attention to the switch lights next time.
