  1. I don't believe there is a legal requirement. But without a support contract I don't think you are entitled to any of the updates or patches they release which "attempt" to resolve certain bugs or issues.
  2. Staff are unlimited, students get 1GB to start with and then increased as/when/if required.
  3. When we used intouch we had that problem and a long list of others, in the end we lost faith because of all the issues and because it seemed to be a degraded service quite frequently so we ditched intouch and went with schoolcomms. Not all phones have that function.
  4. That 500 meg up and down on an uncontested line?
  5. You can still get some on ebay - bought a few in the past, ripped out the components inside and upgraded as required. Generally for the same reasons you state, that they are quite rugged. rm all in one | eBay
  6. Is that all I need to pay the £3.11 per user or do I need to pay the £17.99 per machine to install it as well?
  7. How do you actually go about buying this? Contacted our licence re-seller and they have said "Minecraft isn't available on the OVS-ES. Only Campus at this stage. No confirmed date as to when/if they will added to OVS unfortunately." Was looking at buying it for a set of 30 generic accounts so it can be used in an ICT suites during a club as opposed to buying for every student in school.
  8. Student Numbers: 1500 Staff Numbers: 300 IT Staff: 3 Servers: (virtual) 20 Computers: (desktop/terminals) 800 Laptops: 240 Ipads: 150
  9. Thank you - managed to get licences removed and new ones added using slightly amended versions of codes written above. Ediy * downloading the utility and will give that a try as well.
  10. I need to remove the current licences assigned to students in Office 365 for student advantage and replace them with new licences as we have changed our MS agreement and the old one is about to expire. I can run individual lines in powershell to remove the licences but is there a way to do this in bulk if i have a csv of all users? Struggling to find any commands that works. Command I'm running for individual licences is; Set-MsolUserLicense -UserPrincipalName username@domain -RemoveLicenses "SCHOOLNAME:OFFICESUBSCRIPTION_STUDENT" Thanks in advance
  11. At least if you have an agreement in place your pricing is protected until the agreement expires. (or at least that's how i understood the 3rd paragraph from the end)
  12. Permitted for staff Blocked completely for students using Smoothwall - but a couple of people responsible for unblocking permitted content via smoothwall to show "approved" videos.
  13. Unlimited for staff here - although I still think "house keeping" should be performed by staff and students for that matter. While I agree that communications need to be kept between staff and students / parents etc. The vast majority of emails can be deleted, as an example the amount of Groupon, wowcher or Living social type emails that don't get deleted is into the tens of thousands. Small number in grand scale of things I suppose but still not difficult to delete.
  14. Using CC4.5 here on Windows 10 education along with Solus 3 - done the Spring update this Easter Holiday and its rolled out to the Windows 10 stations fine, the shortcut in the start menu for both SIMS and Discover work as expected. Made no changes to any policies, program sets or shortcuts since moving to 4.5 or windows 10 its just continued to work. Do you have multiple user types? i.e. teaching staff and non teaching staff - do you get the issue for both user types? Does it appear and work correctly for an admin user? Have you tried creating a new shortcut from scratch for SIMS or a completely new program set.
  15. Latest Technical Road Map - https://myaccount.capita-cs.co.uk/Search/DownloadDocument?s=RESOURCEID-1-3293#
  16. That isnt the latest road map - quite possibly new one hasn't been made available yet, conference only ended yesterday evening.
  17. Its confirmed in the latest roadmap they showed us which i'm struggling to find a link to on SIMs My Account. Its poor, its not like Office 2016 was released yesterday. Its been available since September and was in preview a long time before that.
  18. Thought would BUMP this thread instead of making a new one. Been to the SIMS Independent conference over the past two days and in one presentation it was mentioned that Office 2016 support has been pushed back to Autumn release which is available in November. Presenter wouldnt speak on or off the record to say if it would work or not nor what any issues maybe encountered if you were to use it prior to that Autumn release. A number of unhappy people in relation to this. EDIT *searched edugeek but couldnt see anywhere this information may have already been given, so apologies if its already in a thread somewhere*
  19. We use TASC and Schoolcomms combination as well - two separate systems but both integrate well with SIMS and the support has always been good if and when required. TASC have been good when we have made feature requests e.g. making results in a survey anonymous.
  20. Apart from the technological side of things and depending on the type of data you would be backing up to the other school and vice versa, I would anticipate you would need to review your safeguarding and data protection policies?
  21. Had similar problems with Citrix on any modern browser and had to disable the RC4 and enable AES instead. Mail has been un-effected (up to now).
  22. We have had a large number of AP's emitting a very high pitched noise every now and again. The AP's still work fine but emit the sound. Teacher cant hear it, but the students also cover their ears as its deafeningly loud. Took it down and gave it a physics / electronics guy see if he could do anything with it and he re soldered a part back on it, but cant remember what the part was, may have been a transistor or something.
  23. If you intend to drive both your own car and the leased car just double check your car insurance terms. Although most policies allow you to drive any car with the owners permission and be covered 3rd party a number of insurance companies policies exclude this if the car is leased, and you have to pay more. That was something that bugged me when we looked at leasing, insurance company wanted £100 more a year.
  24. Our of interest does your image display via this method if the user is viewing a powerpoint presentation?
  25. It does depreciate over 5 years but that doesn't mean I have the budget to replace it no matter what strategy or processes are in place. At the moment, they are repaired or replaced depending on age, location and cost to do so but these figures are generally cheaper than the cost of a Casio Ultra short throw.
