  1. We have considered Aidos Protects – Protecting schools and students from deepfake exploitation. While it offers some mitigation, on the flip side, doing this type of thing can remove the personal / individual recognition of pupils achievements and celebrations we post on X fairly regularly.
  2. We found the way to do it was to allow access for students old enough rather than block for those not old enough. In Entra we use "Age Group" and "Legal age group classification" properties under 'Parental controls' and set to NotAdult - which equals 13-18 years old. We set this for pupils in year 9 and above which gives them access to Copilot. For all other year groups we leave this unconfigured and therefore it doesn't provide access to Copilot and their accounts continue to work as normal for everything else.
  3. +1 for Welcome to Signable | UK Based Electronic Signature Provider No complaints and the pricing was really competitive.
  4. We're going through some muddy waters like this at the moment, and trying to understand it all. We have a licence for 10 years and they expire in 2030, but the end of life date is this summer for some kit, and next summer for the rest. Selling a product with a 10 year licence and then the equipment only being valid for 5 -6 years is quite underhand. It is simply not feasible at this point in time to replace an entire wireless infrastructure. No "official" word from Meraki if the AP's will continue to work, but without warranty or firmware updates. Even if they do, it puts us in a position where we have equipment that wont receive any kind of updates. Evaluating other products now, and posing questions to them which could avoid this type of thing in future.
  5. Yes it is Lightspeed. The cost savings of Intel Vs Qualcomm and the improved battery life on these new 12" Surfaces Microsoft have announced has put the cat amongst the pigeons so to speak. I'm told Lightspeed compatibility is coming but there are no ETA for each of the products.
  6. Does anyone use a good filtering, monitoring and alerting system that aligns with KCSIE on Qualcomm Snapdragon devices? Do you have hands on experience and can you recommend it? Our current provider doesn't support the functionality, so we are considering alternatives. Given the differences in price between Qualcomm and Intel based devices and a large turnover of devices each year in our 1:1 scheme the cost saving potential is significant. Thanks
  7. I've seen this in the past and in that instance related to the volume of messages being sent over a brief period of time and the fact the recipients didn't have the sender as a saved contact so the sender was perceived to be a SPAM account.
  8. +1 for Lightspeed We have been using the filter, alert and classroom management products for over 12 months now. Big improvement on our previous filtering and alerting product. Filtering product works well, and the reporting is good while being simplistic to use. Support when needed has always been very good, and they're always quick to respond. Alerting product works well after some tweaking to get the right level to suit your needs, and the integration with 365 so it scans composed emails or file contents as well as the usual internet traffic is very good. We partner that with the Human Review offering. Classroom Management, staff like it as its not got lots of bloated functionality - staff want to be able to see what students are doing, lock screens and push out the occasional URL so it fits the requirements fine. Uses OneRoster to sync classes.
  9. Had same issue; IOS 18.1.1 Outlook App 4.2445.2 Locked up, not responsive. Removing the app completely and starting a fresh was the only way to sort it.
  10. Currently utilising Microsoft Surfaces in a 1:1 environment. We are looking at other potential manufacturers as we approach a refresh in summer 2025 and wondered if anyone has moved away from Surfaces to something else, or indeed moved from something else to Surfaces and can share experience or reasonings?
  11. Computer Science teachers here are looking into whether https://vscodeedu.com/ is a viable replacement for firewalledreplit
  12. Huff - was showing as 23rd June. 1. Clipchamp coming to education customers We are excited to announce that Clipchamp, a video editing tool that empowers educators and students to create engaging videos, will be available for Microsoft 365 Education with our A3 and A5 licenses. Starting on June 23rd , 2024, our education customers can access Clipchamp and start making amazing videos with ease. https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/microsoft-365/roadmap?filters=Microsoft%20Clipchamp&searchterms=396288
  13. Anyone actually starting to see this yet in their licence allocation to assign to staff and students?
  14. Thanks will have a look at that. Didn't think forms allowed you to upload a file with the completed form? **edit - sadly it still isn't possible. File upload is only available when “Only people in my organization can respond” or “Specific people in my organization can respond” is the selected setting. Parent Portal doesn't have upload functionality. Looking at Request a file on SharePoint at the moment instead. Thank you.
  15. Just wondering if anyone could share how they currently process the request for information relating to Trips - such as passport details? Currently were a bit old school and ask the for things like a passport to be brought in so we can copy in order to process flight check ins etc - Just wondering if anyone uses an electronic method to capture this data as an when required all while abiding by GDPR rules and regs. Thanks in advance
  16. Really... I didn't know that... we use their Options package but the Timetable software wasn't able to fully handle our timetable (to complex apparently), so stuck with NOVA T-6. Maybe this could be a turning point.
  17. Used NOVA T-6 as standalone since our move away from SIMS to iSAMS around 6 years ago. Works fine no issues to speak of, works in similar fashion. Map a new drive to a new location where the timetable files are stored, and then ensure said location is backed up, and NOVA T-6 points to new location and job done quite literally. Cost for the licence is around £3500 a year (with 1700 students on roll).
  18. We are onsite with PT-X as well. We were told it was mandatory and have to move prior to current PT-X licence expiry which for us is August as PT-X wont be supported moving forward only HUBPay - Esenda Rebranded. We got the original email alerting to this change in April. "Happy Easter! I realise you may still be working over the break, but hope you manage to enjoy some downtime with your loved ones too. Earlier in the year I wrote with an update on all things WCBS, and this included introducing you to HUBpay, your new payment platform. HUBpay, powered by esenda, offers you the same functionality as your current payment platform, plus much more. With HUBpay not only will you receive International Payments, advance notifications and the ability to process ad-hoc payments, but it also opens up a plethora of additional options at a significantly lower cost compared to your current setup. Over the next 12 months we'll be moving all of our schools over to HUBpay. We'll be reaching out to book this in very soon." Them reaching out was the part that informed us we have to move prior to PT-X licence expiry!
  19. Does anyone happen to use PASS Finance and PT-X and have been asked to migrate to Esenda in place of PT-X? Been told we need to migrate away from PT-X before the end of July, to Esenda, but the product doesn't feel finished? Anyone using it or got experience of it?
  20. Their response to you @mcolbourn is completely different to the response I have had, which indicates the scan only happens if there is a change to the email, or document or file. They have said in the helpdesk call that something had changed at the Microsoft end which is causing the issue. It would seem strange its happening for multiple schools and for them to claim its a periodic scan. They have advised us to turn on the human review as well for the time being.
  21. Good to know it's happening elsewhere as well, and hopefully they are looking to resolve ASAP. It is driving the DSL mental.
  22. Since around the 27th March we have seen an enormous increase in the number of Alerts being generated in particular alerts via the Office 365 integration which scans emails. 1141 alerts in 21 days now, and only 4 of those days were term time! It seems to be scanning historical items stored in Outlook, not just new items. Something which the system shouldn't do unless the item is changed. Usual call open with LightSpeed, but wondered if anyone else is seeing this issue? Thanks in advance.
  23. We have around 110 classrooms give or take, so almost £21K a year?
  24. So it's the announcement we've been waiting for.... and one we probably expected. It may well be out of reach financially for schools unless they are adjusting their pricing model as they release it within other educational settings?
  25. Got over 100 of the 4K ones (1 in every classroom), and they've been bullet proof for us. It's a shame they've discontinued them without a replacement on the horizon. Managed to buy around 10 as "spare" for a short term solution moving forward, but looking for alternatives, and BETT may give me the opportunity. Good point @chazzy2501 cable tie in place before someone pinches them all and makes a packet selling them on eBay
