  1. Where I use to work there was 8 Ipads for staff to use. To be honest I think it was a waste of money. All the staff have their own school laptop and access to desktops as well if needed. The same for students, they've got access to laptops and desktops. The Ipads were just an expensive toy that had no practical use especialy after staff realised alot of the software they used on their laptops wasnt available on the Ipads. Hopefuly someone else can show good ways they've been using Ipads. In my experience they had no place in a school.
  2. I would ask them to come in and see you or speak to them over the phone and explain how they can prevent their laptop from connecting. Maybe even print off some instructions to give to them incase it happens again in the future.
  3. Yikes scary stuff. Glad to hear everyone is ok. (And the servers after your heroic rescue attempt lol ) I presume this is the school. Fire looks big on the video Harborne Primary School fire: Emergency meeting to take place today - West Midlands News - News - Birmingham Post
  4. Good point. I guess I just like having the case, manual etc.
  5. Nice, i was tempted to get a few but the games i was looking at were digital downloads. I prefer to have the game on dvd.
  6. Congrats:) Did you go on a training course of some sort to do these? I noticed you did all the exams really close together. How did you find the exams?
  7. There is no speed difference:) You get exactly the same as you would with a round cat5 cable.
  8. I use CDBurnerXP or windows built in features. CDBurnerXP: Free CD and DVD burning software
  9. You can get Camtasia on a free 30 day trial and i beleive it includes no watermarks over the video. I've always found Camtasia to be very good. If you have the smartboard software that also comes with recording features, so you could use that.
  10. I enjoyed the race. Was happy to see Webber get a good result considering his grid position.
  11. Tested here. Windows 7 x64 and works well. Only problem I had for the start was I had Virtualbox and VMWare Virtual Network Adapters enabled. After disabling these in device manager all worked fine. Nice work:)
  12. Thanks all. I'll think I will stick to the books and free videos that you've mentioned and set up my own test networks using a VM. I cant justify paying $300+ for a set of these.... I'll stick to books, practise networks and happily learn that way:)
  13. What do you think about the CBT videos? I've heard from alot of people they are suppose to be very good. I looked at the website today and saw the prices.....They are so expensive! Do you think the videos are worth the price? Depending on the certification some are as expensive as 399$ That seems awfuly expensive to me... If you've used them in the past do you think they've been worth the money? Also are you allowed to do a group buy and share the videos? ( I guess not ) Like 5 people split the price and pay 80$ each.
  14. On the same network here on windows 7 desktops. Cubase, Sibelius, Nuendo and all mostly runs fine. Main problems are with users and teachers not knowing how to do stuff on the software and having to teach them, but thats fine. Maybe put a few music computers on the main network for a trial basis to show it runs just as good, and then scrap the dedicated network, unless you've got the money and staffing to upgrade and support it:)
  15. Can you ping the NIC locally on the laptop? Do you get a 169.XXX.XXX.XX address if you do ipconfig? What happens if you disconnect from the wireless network completely and forget all the security details and then rejoin and enter the security details.
  16. Can other laptops connect to the AP fine? If others can connect to the AP, how many are connected? Not something silly like running out of DHCP addresses? What happens if you try a ipconfig /release and /renew? Any updates for the drivers or firmware update for the AP? If you disable and then re-enable the NIC does that help?
  17. Sorry, that would be a Kyocera FS-C5350DN Colour Printer
  18. Tested here. Changing to greyscale charges black/white price and keeping as colour charges colour prices.
  19. Ophcrack works on windows 7
  20. Pcounter and office 2010 here, but no Samsung printer. What needs testing?
  21. On our sony TV's they connect to a small computer via a serial to usb cable and then using RS232 commands we can turn the screen on/off, change the input, change the contrast, brightness etc etc. Do you have serial ports on these?
  22. Lots of coffee mats you have there to keep the table from any stains
  23. Do as FN-GM said. Simple and easy and easy for teachers to use.
  24. You could build a half decent pc and then run a virtual machine for your testing/backup purposes. This way you can use the computer for every day use and have the VM working in the background doing it's stuff. Just an idea. For testing i use the free 180 day trial of windows server 2008 R2 Windows Server 2008 R2 Evaluation Free 180-Day Trial However this might not be of any use if you plan to have it running long term.
  25. Thanks both. Will take a look at.
