  1. Yep... you two were correct. I was being a fool and didnt enable the boot from pxe option in the NIC settings. How silly of me^^ I've done this 100's... if not 1000's of times and today I was clearly having a blank head. Thanks for waking me up!
  2. Hi, I feel a little bit daft asking this. I'm trying to pxe boot a laptop so I can deploy an image using WDS. I've set the boot order in the bios to Network as the first boot sequence and disabled everything else. Every time the laptop boots up it says no media found ???? Why is it saying this? Why's it not doing the usual thing of obtaining an IP from DHCP and then saying press F12 to blah blah blah. The laptop has a 100% working cat5 cable connected. I'm really confused and feel rather silly right now. Anyone got some ideas? thank you
  3. I ordered some pc parts from ebuyer yesterday evening. Ordered at 7:00 and the parts had been despatched by 8:00, and this was the free delivery option ( parcel force 48 hours) This is my first time using them, so far it's been good. Lets hope all the correct parts arrive, and in working condition.
  4. This sounds like AB tutor to me. When you lock the screens it does as you described. Sounds like the teacher was having a bit of fun^^ Also even if the teacher says they didnt lock the screens you might be best testing it yourself and seeing if it's the same message. In the past we've had problems with pcs being locked by AB tutor and the teachers accidently locking them and didnt realise ( No Idea how you can accidently do this )
  5. Yeah i try to memeroise but always get mixed up with the volume control and channel control and end up switching from the dvd lol. How much do you think it would cost a manufacture to add some back lights? surly not much. My tv isnt a super expensive one, so maybe the top of the range tv's get a back lit remote.
  6. A bit random of a guestion i suppose.. I like to watch movies, i turn the lights off, close the curtians and have my snacks and drinks at my side. I pick up the remote and cant see a thing! So then I have to get up, turn a light on, start the movie, turn the light back off. I've always wondered why TV remotes dont come with little back lights behind the buttons so they can be seen in the dark. I know you can buy these seperate. It would be nice if it came with the tv though so you didnt have to spend more money. Did your TV come with a backlit buttoned remote?
  7. I think I’ve decided I’m going to go for a Lian Li PC-Q08 Case Lian Li Industrial Co., Ltd. It's only micro ITX size, however it can fit a full size graphics cards, 6 hard drives and according to the reviews I’ve read the case has good cooling. It’s a fairly small case and allows a bit of expansion if need be as well. One thing I’m thinking of changing and adding extra to the case is the fans. Personally I’m not a massive fan of the Blue LED front fan. Can anyone recommend some quite, cool running fans at a reasonable price? This build is going to cost a little more than i wanted, but hey:) I've got some money put away for this and I’ve never built a computer specifically for myself before so I’m quite excited lol
  8. By bike do you mean a motor bike or a push bike? I've sold push bikes on ebay and usualy dismantle most of the bike, wheels handlebars, forks etc so its easier to send.
  9. when I signed in to PSN it said i needed to change my p/w and gave me a pasword change box to do so. Did that an all worked fine. I've not received any emails however.
  10. Did you remove the machine from AD? Delete both from the sophos console and then remove the machine from the domain and AD. Then rejoin the domain and hopefuly when sophos does it's scheduled sync hopefuly it picks up just the one. I found sophos support to be very good. They always got back to my emails in less than 12 hours, on some cases within an hour! so you can always contact that them and receive a fast reply.

  12. I agree you should go for Enterprise if it's an option. Even if you dont use the added features from the start they are atleast available to use for the future.
  13. What time is lift off?
  14. *Blows dust off PS3 and inserts enjoyment*
  15. having a look through these now ! A question, on some cases it says similar to this 2x USB2, 1x USB3 Does USB 2 and 3 use a different port?? I thought it was all the same, so why should it matter if i used the i/o opening for a usb2 or usb 3 device? Not that it really matters as i have no USB pen drives:)
  16. Yep the DIY route is certainly the way to go. I've been thinking about Micro ATX case size... it's just they all seem so big to me. Is there no cases that can fit micro atx size but small, thin and compact? like these http://media.pcadvisor.co.uk/cmsdata/reviews/3202421/HP%20Compaq%20dc5800%20Small%20Form%20Factor%20282.jpg http://recommendmeapc.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/pcspecminijuly10.jpg they look fairly small and could be layed flat. I'm thinking of something around ps3, xbox size case, is that possible for micro atx?
  17. I think i've decided i'm going to build my own. It wont turn out as cheap as the HP Micro, somewhere between £250 - £300 i recon. It should be much better though because i can get a decent CPU, good ram, and always have the option to upgrade parts in the future if i need. I was thinking of something like this Case=ITX Size case Motherboard = Gigabyte GA-H67N Gigabyte GA-H67N-USB3-B3 H67 Socket 1155 7.1 Channel.. | Ebuyer.com CPU = Intel Core i3 2100 Intel Core i3 2100 3.10GHz Socket 1155 3MB L3 Cache.. | Ebuyer.com RAM = Kingston 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1333MHz Kingston 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1333MHz HyperX Blu Memory.. | Ebuyer.com Total= £240 Add a case and it should still be under £300, and i've already got a hard drive i could use unless i wanted to get a SataIII which i'm not that bothered about. Or instead of going for Intel i noticed you can get a AMD phenom cheaper and its quad core AMD Phenom II X4 840 Socket AM3 3.2GHz 2MB Cache.. | Ebuyer.com Do you think the phenom would perform better for what i want due to the quad core ?
  18. Thanks all. I took a look at those at LinITX.com but i still think HP have the best offer. I've been thinking to much... I'm starting to wonder if I should go for something like this instead HP ProLiant ML110 G6 Tower Server 2.8GHz 1GB 250GB GbE.. | Ebuyer.com I know it's moving away from being small small size... My concern is the CPU on the HP Micro. For now I only plan to install one instance of server 2008, but in the future i may want to install more. Realisticly the CPU on the Micro surly cant handle much? The HP ProLiant ML110 G6 has a much more powerfull 2.8ghz cpu which would allow more flexability to run VM's. However i cant claim money back because you have to buy a HP OS which i dont need, so the price would be £225+ £50-70 (8GB DDR 3 RAM) + £10-£20 (Wireless NIC) Total = £285 -£305 A little more than i wanted to pay really. In the long run it might be better though because of the better CPU, plus i beleive i'm correct in saying i can upgrade the cpu in this one because it uses LGA? which again adds more flexability to upgrade that in the future. This will only ever been used for a test environment, i'm just concerned if i installed 2 or 3... or even 1 VM that it would struggle alot.
  19. Ok I'm fairly sure i will get the HP Micro Do I really need ECC ram for a test environment? I was thinking of getting 2x4gb DDR3 RAM Non ECC and saving a few £.. For a wireless NIC would something like this be ok? I cant really see on NIC's where it says low profile. ASUS PCE-N13 802.11b/g/n Wireless PCI-Express Adapter: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories I will search some more! I've not done computer component shopping for such a long time..
  20. Thanks both. My plan was to only run 1 instance of Server 2008 as the Main OS ( No VM's ) because i dont expect these systems to be able manage that. I just noticed these HP Microservers as well and they look very tempting with the cash back offer. I have a few questions if either of you are able to help 1) I would need use to use a wireless NIC. I cant see why there would be any problems installing a pci express nic to do this? 2) Can the CPU be upgraded in these easily like any other "standard size" computer? It might be something i look into in the future if i plan to run VM's because the 1.3ghz cpu will struggle i think. 3) Where is the deal of £170 cashback if i upgrade to 4gb ram?I cant find that offer thanks
  21. Hi, I want to get a small form factor computer to install server 2008 on and work towards somce microsoft certifications. Currently i've been using virtual machines, however i only have a laptop and it struggles a bit if i try to run to much... I was looking at something like this eMachine ER1401 Desktop - Desktops | Ebuyer.com Has anyone used these before? It seems ideal for the job and should be fine for a test environment to learn. I dont want to spend a great deal. Maybe £250 max. Can anyone recommend any others that would be up to the job?
  22. It's 3D art that my friend has created and she's had offers on it so she wants to sell and use my PayPal which I’m happy to help with. She owns and created the work, so there are no worries there. It's just in the past we know of people in a similar situation who have been scammed and we would like to avoid that if possible Is there some way we can prove the buyer has received the digital art that would stand if the buyer reversed the charge and tried to scam us? I've read if the buyer sends the payment as a payment for a 'service' and adds in the comments no physical items are involved that PayPal don’t get involved if the buyer then tries to reverse the charge. Not sure how true this is though.
  23. Hi, A friend and I plan to sell some digital stuff of ours and we could end getting a few hundred £. How can we protect ourselfs if we use paypal? Whats stopping the buyer from paying for the product and then reversing the charge once they've received the item? Since it's digital stuff there will be no postage involved, so i cant prove the content has been delivered that way. Has anyone got experience with this and how i can protect myself from potentially unlawful people
  24. Sorry to hear Asomodai. At least you gained some experience from the interview processs that you can learn from and take foward for when the next oppertunity arrives:) As for AD. Depending on how busy you are could you get the NM to spend some time teaching you? Or maybe see if it's possible for the school to pay for you to go on a course. You can always set up a Virtual Machine like plexer said using the free 180 day trial of server 2008 R2 Windows Server 2008 R2 Operating System There's plenty of guides on the internet you can work through or books you can use.
  25. Can you find the jumper/dip switch on the laptop to reset the password using that method? Or remove the cmos battery for some time and then put it back. What bios does this laptop have? On some bios's you can get software to crack the password, however i've never used this method so i'm not sure how reliable it is.
