Hi, Can someone tell me if i'm allowed to share purchased ipad apps between multiple ipads? we have 10 ipads at the school and i'm wondering if for example teacher A buys a app for geography and then teacher B who is also a geography teacher wants the app. Is it fine for teacher A to share with B or does teacher B have to buy this app again? Or can someone just give me an email address to contact apple please and i'l ask them directly I cant find a email address on the apple site anywhere.. thanks very much

I beleive it's a 30 day trial and then you have to buy, i may be wrong though.

Depending on how much time he has to study it could be reasonable. If i remember correctly the first semester is fairly simple and shouldnt take long to get through, giving him more time on the other semesters. Depending on how much experience he has with networking as well could be a big factor. I loved packet tracer when i was doing my ccna, however it's still nice to play with real equipment if you can..!

We use Sony ziris digital signage system with sony bravia screens.

Never heard of a way to lock the system from saving any settings. You could create a snapshot of the 'clean' state before you install anything and then once you've installed software and decide you want to go back to the clean state you can revert back using the snapshot. I second virtualbox. Use it myself and never had any problems with it and best thing is it's free!

We have some computers that freeze on the screen when trying to deploy an image with wds. It was due to the network card not supprting 1gb. Connecting it to a port set as 100mb solved the problem. Maybe this is the same problem for you?

I quickly tested what srochford suggested and unfortuantly it didnt work for me either. The same happened to me as it did for DavidP, when i plugged the pic programming cable in it started asking for device driver to be installed.

I've not had chance to try this yet. Plan to do it first thing in the morning. I hope i can get it to work, however i have my small doubts after reading DaveP still got asked for the drivers. I'l post back the results. Thanks all for the help!

I would say get some training in so all staff are aware of the features an IWB can offer. I find staff members can be afraid of new technology and try to avoid it as much as they can, so if you can offer some training and make them comfortable with the board and the software they might start using it more once they've been shown how it works.

Are you running a VLE? We have a bookings form created in Frog. All it requires is the end user to fill out a few options such as time/date etc and then the request is emailed to the member of staff in charge of bookings. They can then either accept or deny the request, if accepeted the request is added to the bookings form calendar on frog for all to see/

I think extended display is your best option if the projector doesnt have an option to freeze the display. You can find this in your graphics options and then once you've done it you can drag the lesson objects over to the second display for students to see and the staff member can still privatly work on the computer.

Thanks for the link mac_shinobi. I'm not sure if this is something i need as well because this is all new to me. If what srochford suggested doesnt work i will look into this. One thing i did notice after looking through the link you posted. It says this "You can use DevCon with Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003" Does it work with Windows 7 as well?

Hi all, Hoping someone can help me out. Is there a way i can deploy device drivers? I need to install the drivers for a pixaxe AXE027 usb cable on alot of machines PICAXE http://www.rev-ed.co.uk/software/axe027.zip Is there an easy way to deploy these drivers, like you can with a software package, so i dont have to go around each machine manualy? The clients are using windows 7 and running a server 2008 network. thanks very much.

Hi, Yes i've seen that. The problem is we've deployed the software out already because it was needed asap and at that time i couldnt get hold of a activation key for the software. Now i have the activation key and was hoping i could find where it was stored so i could easily send this to the required computers without going around and doing each manualy.

Hi, Do any of you know where the product key is stored for the smartboard notebook 10 software? I thought it would be somewhere in the registry but can’t find it anywhere. I have lots of computers that require activation and I was hoping to find where the key is stored so I can roll it out to all the computers and save me going around them all. Thanks

Thanks all for the help. I managed to solve the problem. I looked at the smoothwall logs and saw two domains being blocked 2mdn.net googlesyndication.com I added them to the allow list and now the content plays for the required groups. nile_c, thanks for your searching but I didn’t notice your post until I came back here to post my results, but thanks very much.

penfold, We already have groups set up. I just gave an example of two. We have more groups for students than just the 1 i said. It's all of the student groups that cant load the content aswell, but i will only allow the content on the groups that require access for it. Thanks for the suggestions all. I will give them a try and let you know how it goes.

plexer, we are using smoothwall for our internet filtering. It is set up to use different groups, eg StudentInternet, StaffInternet etc. Any AD user account that has the student internet filtering cant get the 40D content to load. So yes, pupils get more restricted access than staff.

If you try to load one of the videos on a student account the page loads up and then the video attempts to load and never does load. ( I left it for 30 minutes just incase it was being deadly slow..) I'm wondering what could be getting blocked to prevent students loading these videos? One theory i have is the 40D videos on youtube have 4 advertisement videos before the 'Main video' starts. Could it be these advertisement videos that are being blocked preventing the main video from loading?

Thanks for the concerns regarding the age rating. Some of the students are 18+ (All of them might be, I'm not sure) as it's an A-Level group. I will check with the teacher before she goes teaching a lesson on it. I don’t believe the fact that it's an 18 has anything to do with the content not loading though. All 40D content on YouTube will not load for students. 18+ or not 18+ content, it will not load for student accounts if it's 40D. The video keeps trying to load on an endless loop. Regarding the public screening. I cant comment as i do not know the laws for this, but why would 40D put the content on YouTube if it cant be viewed? So can anyone help me as to why NO 40D content will load for a student’s account but loads on a staff account? thanks very much.
