  1. Think I've got it sorted I had to go to managed browsers, find a device with the extension installed, then extension report (I can't find an easier way to list all extensions installed) Then block extension, which uninstalls it apparently
  2. Got an issue at the moment with Microsoft documents opening up as a blank page, apparently this is to do with the Office Editing for Docs, Sheets & Slides extension The chromebook has the extension installed but the end users can't remove it as it's installed by administrator. I pushed out this extension via GPO ages ago and it's not listed in the google admin panel , so how do I remove it ?
  3. Wacom have now finally got chromebook certification for the wacom one - going to test ours https://www.wacom.com/en-us/products/pen-tablets/one-by-wacom
  4. Filtering is easy, no need to contact Google at all, printing just works fine with mobility print. Shared drives are a thing of the past Chromebooks boot quickly, problem with a Chromebook ? Powerwash Classroom connectivity ? Install a USB C hub, one cable to plug in = projector \ sound etc. The future is cloudy adapt or else Covid 19 is accelerating this, if your application isn't in the cloud with a subscription model you will fall by the wayside. Google is way ahead of the curve on this, Microsoft are trying to catch up imo
  5. We moved to UNVR-4 here, I like it but the android \ ipad apps need access via a cloud account, you can't have local access like you could with unifi video
  6. Phew, test came back negative Probably just a cold, remember those ?
  7. Went for a proper test this morning, woke up with what felt like a hangover. I thought it was just a dodgy pint I had last night but housemate came down feeling the same so we booked in some tests - got none of the 3 main symptoms though so hopefully it's nothing. Now to wait for the results.
  8. Shame really, as 2d design is one of those rare applications that just works no matter what you do and it's nice and simple I think they tried sketchup and its more 3d focused, this is for 2d stuff for the laser cutter \ vinyl cutter Looks like were getting somewhere with Inkscape and exporting DXF though, although they are having issues saving but could be a permissions issue - not had a heap of time to look at it
  9. A cloud version of 2d design would be perfect, as lockdown and teaching from home is showing there's an open market for these kind of things as we all stumble towards the cloud.
  10. We've had a small fleet of the Taskalfa's (3253 and 8353) installed last summer with follow me \ Papercut and they have been reliable up to now with very little support needed. The only outstanding issue is a Communication error on the MFD usually first thing in the morning after being asleep during the night. It's totally random and not a problem. So much cheaper than the last fleet we had
  11. Another reason I stay away from RDS as well as many other reasons
  12. We use the switches here, they are solid enough They do do a top of the cab switch, the XG for fibre inputs - I think the new version is also layer 3 but I haven't investigated if that's any good (If it's unifi its probably half hearted) Great for the price though
  13. Yep sorry, wasn't clear enough - I fix the relocated drop in the ceiling - the AP is installed onto the tile like you say. It's just a patch cable then instead of trying to terminate an end onto solid cable
  14. I tend to pull spare classroom drops and install them in the ceiling void - saved doing new runs
  15. I did consider this and stopped short of suggesting it as we don't have a RDS host and I didn't want to spend a lot of time setting it up for one application Thanks all, I'll have a look at your suggestions
  16. Because of kids learning at home, it's caused an issue with the DT department. The kids have macbooks \ chromebooks \ toasters etc. so 2d design isn't suitable Is there anything (hopefully free) either cloud based or osx based that can do a similar job and produce dxf files ? All the teaching staff are in school, so the DT HOD is doing the laser cutting for them at the mo
  17. The key from the bios is automagic, the PC I did said it failed so I went through activation troubleshooting where it picked up the key in the bios and activated itself PC was a cheap hp g2.5 bought off fleabay with no os and no sticker on the case - it just needed windows 10 pro There are tools out there to expose the key from the bios
  18. I've just fixed up a 5 year old PC that had a digital licence - it's usually win 8 \ 10 machines that have them - - - Updated - - - I would go this route, I did first lockdown with a bunch of old old laptops
  19. Yep BIOS should hold the key - it's a digital licence. You can check with a key retriever to see if there is one
  20. Good idea, I'll pass that on in case it happens again, Google ideally need to add denied entries to the audit logs
  21. I'm sure you're all having this issue We had one earlier where an external user was attempting to join a meeting, the same user asked a student for access to a shared document from classroom I assume this is a students alt - personal email address and I'm trying to track down who it was I thought the Meet audit tool would provide me with info on denied entries which would give me an IP Address which I could probably match against a current student but it doesn't, and the doc access emails come from Google so that's a dead end too Any of you having any luck tracking down this behaviour ?
  22. I don't think there's any issues with me not doing it, I would prefer a PCR done by a professional for a real assessment. The BMJ has said lateral flow tests could cause serious harm https://blogs.bmj.com/bmj/2021/01/12/covid-19-government-must-urgently-rethink-lateral-flow-test-roll-out/ I'm just getting fed up of all the information overload now - don't know what to believe anymore, think I just want to get covid to get it over and done with regardless of the outcome
  23. How many of you are volunteering at school for a lateral flow test ? I turned it down and just had a meeting with the head to ask me why
  24. I use a Markus at home too, great for what it costs
