The thing is.............. When we were at school, it only felt like it was a couple of weeks of "Back to School" stuff and nonsense, because there wasn't the all-day every-day TV that we have now! Growing up in the 70's/80's, TV was a thing of beauty, and adverts could be appreciated. Now, you know that it will be Aug Bank Hols when the first Xmas advert comes on, Jan 2nd for easter eggs in the shops, and many many more examples. The rampant commercialisation of every aspect of our lives continues unabated!

We have just put a 2Gb cap on the staff.....the students hardly use anything anyway!!! We came in this morning to find out staff server (800+Gb) had less that 50Mb space left! Immediately put a cap on everything while we tried to trace what had happened..... Found it was a "Back-up-to-Disk" file, that had duplicated.....Filling the disk. All cleared out, but quotas left in place.....for those that moan, I point out that there are 400 staff, and 800Gb, therefore 2Gb each.

I'm pretty sure that I had this too, Tom, a couple of weeks ago. Never could get MDT to work with WDS. Re-installed WDS, and it runs like a dream for us. Good luck with your server!

Almost 2 years ago, I walked out of my last job! It felt great! I was working in one of the poshest casinos, in Mayfair, and I had already given my notice in. When it came to my last shift, I had already decided that there was no way I could do it all. I had spent 18 years in that business, being treated like carp, from all sides. Anyway, the shift started at 9PM.....and at 12.30, I stood up from my inspector's chair, took off my bow-tie, and Tux jacket, walked up to the manager and said "That's your lot! I cannot do this any longer!" I then proceeded to wander around the casino saying goodbye to all my mates, shaking hands, and generally getting a bit emotional!!! Then, I went to the staff area, got changed, and walked out the door with my head held high! Never have I been more grateful to leave a place! I had no job, in the offing, as my partner, our son and I were moving to Suffolk. Best move I ever made!!

Ummmm....I spent the last 10 years wearing a DJ, dress shirt and bow tie, for work! They look very glamorous, until you're wearing it every day!!! Though, even if I say so myself.....one does look very good in a tux!!!!

It's not about the potential speed that the vehicle does, it's about the fact that he was "drunk in charge of a vehicle". Plus, you cannot say that there is no potential for damage. In my previous post, I mentioned a driver coming round a corner to see the drunk weaving along at 5mph. If said driver is coming along at 50mph, and the drunk is weaving, then imagine the damage that the drunk would be the cause of. I'm gonna take the last sentence with a huge pinch of salt, as I'm sure that was put in for comic effect!!!!

Applesour just gave me a funny look, and walked away, huffing! Peeches has a lot on, with her friend Creem, to worry about football, but her Dad (Major Scruffy) said that he might get involved. Gooseberry is spending an uncomfortable day with 2 of his friends, and Cherry is in hospital....It appears that he "popped"!!!

Am currently in discussion with Bananaboy and pineapplehead to see if they will take on a team each. Appletini has said that he's too busy, but Stargirl says she might do it later! Unfortunately, Professor Plum is in jail, and cannot get internet access....something to do with using his spanner in the study for nefarious activities!!!

I don't understand HOW this is newsworthy??? The guy says it's a fair cop, gets a fine....What is news about that? Can you imagine if a car had come round the bend, to see this joker, drunk and driving erratically? Accident waiting to happen. If they are trying to instigate some sympathy for him, then they've failed. He deserves all he gets! Harsh, but fair, I think!

Blimey Gatt....good to hear that you got out of it fairly well.... Though I can only imagine the state of your pants! Had a similar moment years ago, and even now am especially careful after rain.

Hi all, I'm back in and astonished at how this thread has gone! I am deffo applying for the job, as I have a little experience of other MIS stuff, and am quite prepared to state that I have no exp of SIMS, but as I'm sure they'd see from my 2 years in the biz, so far, I can pick stuff up really quickly. (That oughtta do it!!!) Personally, I'm gonna be using it as a test, to get an idea what is asked at an ICT Managers interview. I don't expect that I shall get anywhere near the position, but I'll keep you all informed And if there's anyone I've forgotten to thank, for all your invaluable input, let me know! :thumb:

Thanks for all your input. I shall be settling down with the application this evening, to fill it in, so will take on board what you've all said. Almost 2 years in Edu environs. Precisely what I plan to do. I figure that they'll see how much I've picked up in 2 years, and realise that SIMS should not be such a big step....At least I hope not!!

Hi all, I am going to be applying for a new job, as an IT Manager at a school, and have seen from the job spec that a knowledge of SIMS is desirable. We don't use this system at my current college, so I was wondering if you could point me in the direction of a good pesource for boning up on it, in readiness for any interview. Ok, so I settled down to watch this on Friday night............... I've kept away from it until this series, and this is only the 2nd time that I've watched it.....but my question is.............. How many actual LAUGHS did you get?

Oh....and sort out getting rid of about 80 desktop units and the same amount of CRT's! No rest for the wicked is, I think, the expression!!!

2 weeks to go, here, too!!!! Then, around 8 weeks to completely rebuild 500+ PC's and laptops........... Sort out the SCE and Antivirus servers......... Demote the domain controller, and promote another server! Oh.....and get a holiday in too!!!
