  1. You don't need System Centre, firstly! I built a WDS server about 18 months ago....got it working perfectly. Since then, I have upgraded the server to 2008 R2, and installed Windows Automated Installation Kit (WAIK) as well as Windows System Image Manager. These have all run well, but will get a proper workout over the coming months, as new kit comes in. We started off with Vista builds, but due to technical failures with the O/S, we moved over to Windows 7, as soon as we could. If you want to PM me, I'm happy to give you some pointers!
  2. Quality line! Funniest thing I've read all day!!!
  3. Where is the confirmation of this? I've googled it, but there's nothing new? *EDIT* Apologies....just found it!!! http://www.chortle.co.uk/news/2010/06/06/11135/red_dwarf_will_be_back
  4. Excellent find, Dave! Thanks!
  5. All depends on how close the Dutch, German, Italian and Spanish fans are. It is a little known fact that there is more hooliganism in those countries than there is in England. our fans are tarred by the same brush, as was used during the 80's and early 90's. The Dutch fans like to arrange fights by mobile phone.....that's proper fighting, not throwing mobiles at each other....and the others are just as bad. The number of British hooligans in infinitesimal, these days, but Police still like to go in hard. Most England supporters are happy with singing and chanting.....the provocation nearly always comes from external forces. (This in no way exhonerates the nasty b******s that go out there looking for trouble)
  6. TVCatchup - Never Miss A Show Again Watch the first half.....then, if you live close enough, drive home at half time! Simples!!!
  7. Can you not put her into the Local Admins group in AD? Then, once the program is installed, take her out again. This should give the requisite allowance for installation.
  8. I'm ever the optimist................ ENGLAND TO WIN IT!!!!
  9. OH YES! We only get this chance once every 4 years! Let's make the most of it!!!! "You've got to hold or give, but do it at the right time" !!!!
  10. I was driving home, after work, and it was the first song on.....This geekboy was very busy singing behind the wheel!!! Even better than 3 Lions!!!
  11. Well, it's almost here! This is a thread for the football-loving crowd! Tell me who you think will win, who will do well, and who'll have a shocker! :D:D
  12. I would go further, and suggest that every town is only allowed ONE pub WITH a TV, and the rest MUST have a good selection of German lagers.....especially Warsteiner (A personal favourite!!!), then you would be free to go almost everywhere without fear of the telly encroaching! However, I believe that even then, there would be people who would go into the ONE pub, just to complain that the telly is on!!!
  13. I think it's probably time we moved over to a benign dictatorship! Gotta be the best way.....as long as the dictator is a football lover, and allows us to keep the World Cup on the telly ;)
  14. Of course there is an escape. Ok, so you may have to put up with a couple of minutes at the end (or beginning of the news) or maybe Eastenders will be postponed until after the match, but football is , by far, the most popular sport in this country, and is the true working class man's game (Though it has been burgled by Mr Murdoch and his Sky regime....Don't get me started on that!!!). Check out the highest rated programs since TV was invented, and in this country you will find that a majority of them will be football related.....England - related......So, as part of the majority, I believe that every 4 years, it is a small sacrifice for the football - haters to make.
  15. Dam right......But that is not the way the world works is it? I think it's obvious that anyone with their head screwed on properly, would like to see critical jobs paid what they're worth. No footballer is worth £200 000 a week, no matter how good they are. BUT, that is the world we live in. That is the world that the free market economy gives us.
  16. Hear hear, Steve! I'm loving the fact that we are little more than 24 hours away from the biggest footballing jamboree since 2006! For all those who dislike football, try the "OFF" button!!! Or have a butchers at CH4 & 5....or even any channel on Sky....Yes, they'll ALL have a bit of a World Cup theme on, but I'm sure that for the ladies amongst you, there will be plenty of coverage of Sex and the City etc etc etc, ad nauseum!!! Come on England!!!
  17. Unbeknownst to me, at the time, but we had 2 Sophos servers going on....and most of the PC's were pointed at the wrong one. Once I took over the system, I've slowly got to a point where 98% of our stock is pointing in the right direction, and the other 2% are laptops that rarely come in to college. It's taken a while, but we'll soon be switching off the "wrong" box. Updates work easily now, instead of having the same problems that you're getting.
  18. Then, you SHOULD go down to your local Party HQ and become an activist.....Work your way up, by using your abilities, and not other peoples discarded corpses, and you should be ok. Don't just think about it.....Do it! (Which is precisely how I got into IT! It's almost as if I planned this convo, just to get back on topic!!!!!)
  19. This is something that we were battling with, for a long time! Are your machines pointed in the right direction for the updates? Have you looked in the "configure updates" page? (Sorry to ask such a dumbass question, but you never know ) You should have a local folder for updates, as your Primary, and Sophos as your secondary update point. Does that make sense? If these are correct, then I'd get on to Sophos Support and ask them to help!
  20. Despite my cynicism at the thought of MP's actually changing anything, other than their bank balances...... You should go for it. Follow that dream, because it's people like you that are needed in Parliament. Someone who has a real wish to do it, and to make a difference can only be good. I'd suggest dipping your toe in the water with your local Party HQ, get your face out there and see what happens. All politicians have to start somewhere....and you probably just need a push in the right direction. Once those at the local HQW see your passion for it.....who knows??
  21. That's such a funny line that I now have to wipe tea off my screen!
  22. Indeed it is!!! We were known as "dopey scopies", though we did have our own range of cool stickers.....along the lines of......... "Scopies do it better in the dark!" Thems were the days......................!!
  23. Had I not fallen into IT 18months ago, I'd probably still be working in one of the top casinos in London. I did 4 years in the RAF, as an Aerospace Systems Operator, and a fast-jet simulator pilot. Sounds cool, but it was only a simulator! Nearest I got to flying was in a Chinook, off the deck of HMS Ark Royal. Mind you......that WAS cool!!!
  24. I'll keep an eye out for that, Sted....thanks!
  25. Seems that I sorted this one, myself! Went into the MGMT folder on the Reminst folder, and cleared it out. Into CMD prompt and typed in : net start wdsserver BINGO! Server back online!
