did you try installing wsus on a different IIS port

Not 100% the same issue as you but I also could not get the update to run, in the end I needed to paste the following into cmd prompt.

I have done a bit of searching but fell a bit overwhelmed by all the info. I want to try and make a basic android app. I have set myself the eventual task of creating a photo slideshow app that pulls pics from something like picasa but obviously need to learn the basics first. Any advice about how I get started, what software should I use to create the app in?

Companies pay for Google Apps for Business and schools get Google apps for Business for free as Google are a) being helpful to students and schools b) gets more people using Google Apps and hopefully when these students go out to work they will purchase Google Apps for Business

I use Google Now on Andoid 4.4 Kit Kat all the time. I find it very handy.

My Primary schools internal network runs on IP4, I do have IPV6 enabled on the server, but to be honest I do not really get it and have never needed to look into it before now. Anyway I have noticed the following event ID error in the server logs, Looking at the adapter settings on the server for IPV6 I have, I assume I should not have Obtain an IPV6 address automatically as the selected option, but have no idea what I would put in the following sections. ipv6 address subnet prefix length default gateway

You could use an NFC sticker in the car or get tasker to detect you are in a moving car and open your phone for you. Both of these options work very well.

We do have cloud backup but, 1. It is the server hdd'd that are getting full and I need to get additional space mainly for photos and videos. 2. The cloud backup is expensive so photos and videos get backed up locally on the understanding that if the school burns down they will not get them back. Everything else is backed up offsite.

Seen on another post that it is not a good idea to have the physical hyper-v server as a member of the domain, rather it should be a standalone unit. The reason was given that you might not be able to access your physical hyper-v server if the main DC goes down. In one of my primary schools I do have a hyper-v server and it is on the domain. Should I be worried? My setup Server 1 = Physical DC with all FSMO roles including Global Catalogue Server 2 = Hyper-V role + a few other none critical roles and is a member of domain Server 3 = Virtual DC (for DC backup) which includes Global Catalogue but none of the other FSMO roles and is running on Server 2 and is obviously a member of domain. Can I not simply login locally to the hyper-v server if no DC servers are available?

Thanks for the info. Just had a thought, I would need to backup the NAS drive just in case that went poof. Would it be a good idea to get an external USB drive and plug that into the server and map this as the media drive and then get this to backup to backup to the NAS drive, or would it be better to us the NAS drive as the shared media drive and back that up to an external USB drive. Both options require the same hardware, just not sure which way round would be best.

The Servers data drive at a primary school is running out of space, so I want to move all the photos and videos off the server and on to another device. I am thinking some kind of NAS device would do. It does not need to be massive, only 2tb of disk space but I would like it to be mirrored. I would also need it to be mappable so everyone can access the shared folders from the windows domain computers and preferably use FAT or NTFS rather than a linux based drive system as this caused me an issue a few years back. Not looking to spend much as this is a primary school that has just spent most of its money.

Sorry to butt in. I look after a small primary and we have one physical 2008r2 DC and another 2008r2 server running the hyper-v role with a second DC as a VM. The physical server that has the hyper-v role is also a member of the domain. I have noticed on this post that that is not a good idea but not a 100% sure why. I can see an issue with the main DC going down and not being able to log in to the second physical DC using a domain account but can you not use a local account?

Just ordered some learnPads for one of my primary schools. They can link in with your current network to some extent and they apparently have a multi user login system which I believe is an extra but gets you out of that 1 2 1 issue that tablets have.

I have had a Nexus a Samsung 10inch and currently have the Samsung Galaxy tab 3 8inch which is by far my favourite tablet so far. 8 inches for me is the perfect size, easy to hold but large enough to watch films on.

Might run the WSUS clean-up wizard and see if that does anything

Think I selected to un-install all items which I would assume includes the cache before doing a full re-install. Just double checked and yes correct classifications are selected.

KitKat was more about speed and resource enhancments. But they have slipped other updates in such as the following.

I have all these ticked Crytical Updates Definition Updates Feature Packs Security Updates Service Packs Tools Update Rollups Updates Not ticked Drivers It's odd as I have another school that has had WSUS installed and running for a few years but it only has about 10 items listed as unapproved but at the school with lots of items listed it has only been running for 2 Months.
