  1. Hi, We are getting our photocopiers and printers removed and replaced with new ones. Ricoh are trying to charge us £350 per machine to be removed as a "Data sanitation" fee. What this basically means is that they will wipe any data that is on the machines but I was under the impression that printers don't store data on them. Could anyone clarify this for me please? I could be wrong but don't want to pay out thousands more if we don't have to. Thanks!
  2. Hi, Has anyone heard of these access points? We are being quoted to implement a new wifi system with Fortinet Meru AP122 802.11ac WiFi access points Now, a different company who also quoted us have said that these are cheap and basically rubbish and we should go with them who are suggesting using HPE Aruba IAP-205-RW access points. They are double the price however and management will obviously just look at price and nothing else. Has anyone had any experience of either of these access points? Cheers,

  4. Hi, Just beginning to move staff over to Windows 10 and I am wondering if anyone has scrapped their current anti virus in favour of Windows Defender? Is it good enough? Would be a great plus point for moving people to Windows 10 if we could get rid of another annual payment! Cheers,

  11. Hi, We have just bought 30 new staff laptops with Windows 10 Education on them and have found the SIMS Portal doesn't work!! Has anyone else had this issue or know a fix and I would be eternally grateful. I think its an issue with IE11 and Windows 10 along with the UAG add on not installing?

  13. Hi guys, I work at 2 large primary schools and we don't have a ticket system but it seems a lot of places do. I was wondering how many people do use one for jobs? Should we be? We currently use Outlook and Tasks to manage work and it seems to work fine for us. Always felt ticket systems were too business like and impersonal but can see there uses, especially in a High school.
  14. @StevieM Thats brilliant, thanks will look into that
  15. Hi, Has anyone had any luck in getting Instagram accounts/pages taken down? There have been 2 pop up under our schools name that are unofficial and potentially damaging with what they are posting. There are a few young students following these accounts as well. Cheers,

  17. Hi Guys, I have been desperately tying to get MissonMaker to work again on our Windows 7 machines but I have had no luck so far! I understand the company (Immersive Education) went under or were taken over? I have heard rumors of a patch to get this working on win 7 but haven't had any luck tracking it down. Was wondering if any of you fine people has this patch that they could share or could point me in the direction to get it? Cheers,

  22. This is the same question I found myself asking as my free trial with Apple Music comes to an end. I have decided to stick with Spotify - for now. I like Apple Music, it looks good and works well I found BUT I missed Spotifys playlists too much. I also found on compilation albums that Apple Music had so many more songs grayed out than Spotify, even though the songs are on the service. I also had issues syncing offline music with Apple when I never have with Spotify. I think Apple Music will only get better though and they will get a lot more exclusives as they have the money/power to out pay other services so I will look at it again in a few months time.
  23. Morning, Anyone else giving Radio X a listen? Seems to be a nice mix of inide/rock music. SO pleased Chris Moyles is back as well Not everyone's cup of tea but I think hes brilliant. Going to make the mornings so much better!
  24. Thanks guys!! I'm sick of working where I am now and feel like this might have potential but getting it off the ground is difficult! How did you get started @edutech4schools did you email round first schools and find out if anyone would be interested? How did you find most were currently getting IT support?
  25. Hi Guys, Bit of a random question but does anyone support Primary schools as part of their own business? I have been thinking about Primary schools in the area and wondering how they get IT Support and what they pay for it, if anything! Been thinking about contacting different primary schools to see if IT support from myself would be of interest to them. Does anyone have any experience of this at all? Not sure exactly how it would work or even if it would work so any comments, advice would be welcome!
