  1. He's not given a great example but I think he makes a valid point, Teachers don't really seem to understand how the world of work outside of academia functions. The large number of teachers who think their job roles gives them authority on the wilder world is a little scary, tack onto that the complete lack of understanding about full time hours and how support services work ( not just us, but things like garages and media companies seem to bamboozle them)
  2. I'd rather they turned the voice into an online only show. Warblers send videos to Will.I.Am . he publishes the ones he likes, people phone up to comment or text. Bosh. Done.
  3. Depends what they're needed for. We use #1 for presentations and digital signage, p4's are largely useless.
  4. Is it possible to rejig the room? Surely the drawers in front of the IWB could be better placed as well?
  5. Our power went off on Friday, cue my assistant turning up on Sunday camera in hand waffling about the school show. Cracking.

  8. Can anyone remind me of the name of the website where the chap posts the hilarious helpdesk tickets his junior logs?.
  9. Best thing to do it so home and work remotely. Your far more productive that way than sitting in a car on speakerphone explaining to a TA how to use a DVD player.
  10. Toilet humour.
  11. Ah, Good explanation, I Understand!. Where in the country are you? There are lots of generous geeks who will spare time for little/no money.
  12. The chances are its just a proxy setting that you don't have. But, and I don't wish to be grumpy here. You cannot substitute a professionals job with enthusiastic amateurs and no amount of internet trawling will give you the knowledge you need. If you are serious about making a change then you will need to pay money for someone to come and help you. Don't think that IT is just something that happens, enterprise networks are very different to home networks and the demands are very different ( you can't ruin a financial database beyond repair at home!) you will need support right from "how do I Print" to "what software licensing do I need" and everything inbetween. It will cost you money, possibly lots if you want a sustainable future, but there again I'm sure the parents aren't out tending the lawns and painting the walls
  13. Well if you can't log on it must be because your thick horrible little teenage scum who can't remember a password or because the nasty evil computer has forgotten poor little flufflys password. Just don't waste your time checking to see what the problem is before you send thick little fluffly to the ict tech.
  14. There is the Applecart in Milton which is a short taxi ride away. There may also be a strawberrytaxi available if your there the same day as me!.
  15. Skeep and Bozteck are both good. Skeep is more lightweight and reliable but bozteck has some fancy features.
  16. Buy a new whizzy server, Set up DFRS so the old ones replicate to the new one and in time retire the old ones, When enough are retired buy another whizzy server to compliment the existing one.

  19. ^ that. Exactly. I remind teachers they are paid for a year same as me, they choose to do their work in a shorter time frame than me so when it comes to reports, parents evening, meetings, inset etc etc that's the choice they make!

  21. Let me prepare you for your day... I only need a little bit of internet!!. It's for a levels!. Can't we just get new internet? This internets always broken. My internet at home works, can I use that? Well my netbook works on a dongle , can't the school just use wireless? I'll need it after lunch. My husband is good with the internet, do you want me to email him? Can I still print?
  22. Yeah but I don't need the whole internet! Just Google.
