Iv'e had this in the past and the issue has been the resolution from the PC has been set too high. The optimum res for an X11 is 1024 x 768

I would look at the Smartboard 885 16:10 ratio interactive whiteboard with an Epson EB575w UST projector and smart speakers. Personally for the money I don't think there is a better solution.

Try wrapping the screws in electricians tape, its worked a treat at a couple of our schools.

The VGA output could of failed on the laptop usually caused by a build up of static from continually plugging in and unplugging the VGA cable.

I've had this when the screws in the bottom have either been too tight or in some old prefab buildings the plasterboard has been steel lined. Is this case the bottom screws need to be insulated with some electricians tape or the controller board has failed.

Can't you just simply just unplug the power cable to the internal PC?

Hi, An epson EBX-20 should do the trick, lens 1.58 - 1.72 you may just need to change the power lead to a kettle style IEC. Priced at £299 from most resellers Just double check it will actually fit inside your cage. They also have a feature called quick corners which should make your life easy when it comes to lining it up.

If you look in the manual to the projector, you can change the frequency of the remote control. its only a case of holding down a couple of the buttons on the remote.

What model IWB do you have? Out of interest if you unplug the USB from the board, will the remote function correctly?

Not really depending on the length required. 10m ones are less then £20. There available upto 40m

The issue is the Cat5 USB extenders only support upto USB 1.0, you need to use active USB extensions that are USB 2.0 due to the higher transmission rate required by the projector.

They do start to become a little pricey at that size. If it had been 3m wide replacement screens start from around £300ish.

What size screen is it?

They will also drive two sets of 8ohm speakers in 4ohm mode allowing you to have four wall or ceiling speakers for larger classrooms.

We have fitted a few, no complaints really apart from the poor sound quality. Nothing a cheap set of wall speakers can't resolve, I haven't heard of it going EOL our account manager said they were just trying to make the product more competitive in price.

Hi Neal, We installed 100 x 50" Panels for high school the summer before last and a year later we swapped them all out for Smartboards. The teachers said they were too small for the classrooms and caused a very poor Ofsted report. To give you an idea I would personally recommend an ActivBoard Touch 78" IWB, Ceiling mounted Epson EBX-20 (3 Year warranty on both hardware and lamp) Techconnect wallspeakers and amp all supplied and fitted for around £1,850.00 from most AV companies. I'd imagine you would be looking at £3000+ for the interactive panels. It is also worth noting that from experience the built in speakers at not generally adequate for large classrooms so additional speakers would be a benefit.

Lindy usually uses the light blue and dark blue wire as the H & V. Can't remember which is which so you will need to try both ways. Also 50m is an extremely long run for VGA, you will be better off using VGA over Cat5.

I've had this issue before with the sound and strangely it was a resolution issue on the apple TV unit. Go into the setting a select a different resolution.

Totally agree with this, we have fitted many projectors in cookery rooms over the years and seen very little issue. I would recommend trying to avoid using them when actually cooking but in general they seem to cope fine with regular filter/projector cleaning. I'd suggest using LCD projectors as you have the filter to help catch the grease etc rather then filterless LED projectors which don't.

If you have false ceilings then ceiling mounted speakers look and perform great. You could have either 2 or 4 speakers depending on the room size and would cost less then £200.

Have you tried recalibrating the cameras?

It's also worth noting that the SBM680 is now the entry level board from Smart, so If your thinking of replacing an SB660 you will also need to factor in relocating the projector mount. The SBM680 also requires a local power point and if your current SB680 is sat directly on top of dado trunking etc then the wall bracket will need raising 15mm to accommodate the new style lower fixing points. We have installed a number of these now and in my opinion they track loads better then the SB680's.
