If you are doing this to avoid upgrading to Office 2003 then your still doing it illegaly. As soon as you install Office 2003 on a PC you need one Licence for it no matter if you use it or how often.

Warranty the Activboards themselves yes - but not projectors because 3 years down the line when the projector does fail you can get one twice as bright, twice as small, twice the resolution for half the price and get a free bulb and 3 years warranty.......... Butuz

It all depends what you want from the printer - the mono printer is twice as fast as the colour and is designed to handle 3 times the print volume of the colour. Print costs will be far lower than the colour too. But then the colour one prints in colour.... so the simple question is - do you need colour? Got FS5015's here and theyre not particularly fast (cheap to ruh though) and have FS-4000N and they are really good printers. Andrew

CC3 is pretty secure as standard - yes. Is it just me that's slightly concerned about a person signing up on this board just to ask how easy it is to hack into a network? Jose - getting educational software to run on CC3 is only a chore because most educational software is written in a way that could be bettered by a first year comp-sci student..... I mean - java and command prompts???? In this day and age? If the software was written properly in accordance with Microsoft's MSI best practice - it would work pretty much out of the box. Andrew

PS3 doesnt really look any better than the 360 - infact having looked at COD4 and Assasins Creed @ 1080p on both - i would say the 360 actually wins out graphically... Andrew

It sure does exist to some extent in some areas, particularly in organisations where race quota's seem to exist, and racial equality is in the public eye - eg the police. This thread has got well out of hand and will probably be closed soon. Butuz

That's cool - I was just checking! Our Assistant Head / ICT-Coordinator has taken this on, though I am heavily involved. It looks to be a very worthwhile excercise - even without the ICT Mark it helps you concentrate on benchmarking where you are know - because lets face it, we all know you can't really move forward succesfully if you don't know where you stand. The secret with the SRF is that is should not be a task done just by one person that wants to get the ICT Mark - it should be a whole school approach in which everyone is involved and it needs to be driven from the top. I don't think it is going to work particularly well if your SMT are not involved / apathetic to what the SRF is, and what you are trying to do? Butuz

Whooo what a statement! This may often be the case in industry where network managers are often simply "people managers" but I think in education as a whole it is certainly not the case, because most network managers have been promoted from technical jobs / backgrounds - I know I pride myself in being able to offer high level technical support if our technicians are struggling with something. But then I am a geek I suppose.... the question is can geeks make good managers? Butuz

What I would do is - buy system 2, and then spend whatever £ you would have spent on system 1 - getting system 2 fitted permanently..... Cant see the need for two systems. Andrew

Our teachers just have "Classroom Teacher" group which means they can take registers and view pupils and staff but NOT view any details such as address / equality / race / etc Andrew

"I DO NOT have to plug a computer in to the wall", "I DO NOT have to do any photocopying"..........."I DO NOT have to set up my own classroom displays" what’s going to come next? By the sound of it - it may be "I DO NOT have to prepare teaching resources for my own lessons"! I agree with much that has been said on both sides of the argument. But I will state in my opinion, as a Network Manager, I am categorically not employed to create learning resources / lesson plans for teachers. That's their job, It's what they get paid for. It's actually in their job description! It sure is not in mine! My job is of course to provide technical support during their lessons, to provide ongoing training and CPD to them, and also to advise them on how to use and embed ICT in their lessons. BUT there is a big difference between advising and supporting them - and doing it for them. Once you cross that line, you will find it very hard to come back. As for embedding ICT across the curriculum - that is the job of the ICT Coordinator (or SMT member with ICT responsibility). It's the ICT-co's job to plan the ICT across al subjects, and its the Teacher's job to implement their plans. It is our job to support this - but not DO IT. That’s why ICT-co' s get paid 40k odd, teachers get paid 30k odd, and i don't! Andrew

Oh my god! I found it! Big Dave - you need to go into the "Modules >> Module Manager" section, then scroll down to the "Curriculum Menu" , tick it and click the "Edit" button. Then on the right hand side of the screen you can see the "Pages / Items" Menu Item Links section. Scroll down on that and you can see the many of the curriculummenu| pages are highlighted in blue - a blue highlight means the Curriculum Menu will appear on that page. Do this for the Curriculum Menu etc and any new menus you create! Butuz

I have this exact problem!! Any new content created - does not show the curriculum / parents menus. I have gone through it with a fine tooth combe and as far as I can see all the settings and menu options are the same - it is doing my nut in Anyone help us? Butuz
