What is the benefit of this compared to say a bog standard £140 HP Thin Client which has its own Linux OS on board, and also has no moving parts, and comes with a 3 or 5 year warranty? Andrew

I think its on the back of the board mate - but you should have had the serial numbers for the boards, projectors, and any sound equipment printed on your delivery note / invoice (at least, we have here). the board lifts up and then off the wall - you should be able to get it off easily with two people and one of you can look around the back whilst your holding it. Andrew

What are you using 20GB for on the C: drive? Do you have programs such as backup or SQL databases on your C: drive? Would be worth creating a D: drive and moving all non system programs to the new drive? Andrew

Matt - not tested with IE7 as we run IE6 but to stop documents opening in a IE/Word cut down window, and force the documents to open in a FULL Word window, do the following: Open "My Computer" Go to "Tools" >> "Folder Options" Go to "File Types" tab Scroll down to "DOC" extension Click "Advanced" At the bottom, you untick "Browse in same Window" Click "OK" You also have "Confirm Open after Download" this is what makes IE ask you whether you want to open, or save the document. If you untick this then when you click on a word document - it will just open in a new word window automatically. Hope this helps and sorry I did not see your post earlier. Andrew

Ig you buy 30 new PC's in order to replace 30 old out of date PC's that you no longer require your supplier is legally obliged to collect the 30 old out of date PC's and dispose of them without any disposal charge (though as said above, they can charge for the actual courier cost). So if i buy 30 machines from dell to replace 30 old RM machines - dell HAVE to take the RM PC's away, by law. From the end of july (i think) onwards. Great isnt it! Andrew

Mr peanuts - are you doing full backups every night? You'd probably be better of doing a full back up per week, and a differential backup on only the user data every night. Should be able to fit at lewast 4 weeks worth of backups on the NAS server then. Andrew

And you certainly don't need Gigabit to the desktop for the thin client. Not much data at all is sent back and fore. You do need a good connection between the terminal server (s) and your other servers though. Preferably at least a gigabit. Standard cat 5 cabling should be fine - we are running a mixture of old cat5 and new cat5e and to be honest there is no difference at 100mbit/s. Each thin client needs a Terminal Server Client Access Licence (about £8 each). Andrew

We just paid for 2 tonnes of equipment to be taken away - monitors, printers, base units, and other misc stuff - £620 all in they picked it all up today. Thats with a local company near Cardiff called Wastechnique. Andrew

We've got a selection of HP Lasers throught the school and they are very good. But Currently moving away from HP Printing soloution due to hideous running costs. I've got to look at the long term - and HP is not viable the ink is sooooo expensive. Andrew
