Just a bit of a heads up really. Our Technician has just resigned and we've been told that we will be advertising for one in the very near future (fingers crossed the advert will be out mid next week). Can't say a huge amount as I don't know definite details however I would guess that it would most likely suit someone who is looking for their first job in IT. I used to use a product called Salamander at my last school, great product, but not cheap. In the summer we're having a product called Umra installed which apparently is similar, but again comes with a cost.

Right, this appears to have been resolved. Although not 100% sure on what it was that has fixed it, we spoke to the company who do our email redirection and within 20 minutes external email is being sent again......we did make one slight change to our DNS as well, but only physically adding the internal DNS addresses...I know where my money lies as to where the problem was.

This has now evolved slightly, Within the queue viewer, on the smtp queue we have another error under "last error", see below 451 4.4.0 Primary Target IP address responded with: "535 5.7.0 Error: authentication failed: authentication failure." Attempted failover to alternate host, but that did not succeed. Either there are no alternate hosts, or delivery failed to all alternate host Any suggestions?

Morning all, Seem to be having a problem with our Exchange server. Essentially we have a long list of email sat in a queue unable to send all with the error code 400 4.4.7. Having done some quick research into it, most suggestions are that the emails are being sent to a domain which cannot accept them, however there is a large number of different domains that I can see (certainly over 50) so I find it hard to believe that all these domains cannot receive email from us. We are receiving emails into school, it is only sending them back out again where the problem lies. I'd post a screenshot, but we've just cleared out the queue to see if that helps anything....as soon as the error regenerates I'll post one. Any help anyone can give us would be gratefully received. Ok, we're a bit further along with this. Getting our hands on the migration tool is not an option, we've exhausted all avenues and the only option we have is to pay Capita to do the move to SQL Server for us. Thankfully the business manager has acknowledged this and has made the money available to us. Unfortunately, with all other various project work we have going on this summer, the only time Capita are able to do this for us is the middle of July. This means that we need to get Capita in to do the upgrade and move to SQL 2008/2012, and then in the summer we need to move the FMS (and Sims.net) database over to our new Sims server on the new domain. Does anyone have the Capita documentation on how to move FMs/SIMS databases from one server to another? I've checked supportnet but haven't managed to find anything as yet. Thanks in advance Iain

Mine was 14 months ago, and it was the bit I was most nervous about during the whole day. I spent weeks writing, re-writing and even had one of the bridesmaids read it for me to make sure I wasn't doing anything stupid. At the end of the day, your speech isn't the one people are putting pressure on to be funny, that's the best man's job. However putting in a couple of little jokes won't hurt and this may be the only opportunity you'll ever have to get a laugh from a room full of people (it certainly was for me). Ultimately, the guests all want you to do well and are willing you to give a good speech. As people have said before though, groom's speeches seem to follow a fairly set order..... - Thank the father in law for his speech and welcoming you into the family. - Thank everyone for coming ("on behalf of my wife and I" always gets a cheer), make special mention of those who have travelled a significant distance to be there. - Thank the in laws for raising such a wonderful daughter, suck up to them at this point :-) - flowers to Mother in law, I told guests what an amazing cook my mother in law is (and she genuinely is) and that they had to try the fruit cake in the wedding cake as she'd made it from a secret family recipe. - Thank your parents - flowers to your Mum - Thank people who had specific roles in the wedding - readings (mention how well they were read) give flowers, ushers - give presents, I thanked the man who loaned us his VW Campervan and acted as driver and gave him a bottle of wine, the woman who made our wedding cake was thanked and given flowers. - Thank the bride, tell her how beautiful she is (She will look incredible, I was completely blown away), tell her how wonderful she is, I gave a quick history of how we met etc. - Thank the bridesmaids - tell them how amazing they look etc - give flowers etc - Thank the best man/men tell the guests what a liar he is and that they shouldn't believe anything he/they say. With our wedding, I was not only becoming a husband, but also a step dad. The bit of my speech that got the tears flowing (I got the wife, the mother in law, my mum and my wife's work colleagues with this bit) was where I gave special mention to my step children, telling them how wonderful they were, and how grateful I was that they had accepted me into their lives (I also gave them presents just from me) and how I hoped to help them become the wonderful adults I am sure they will become. Hope this is of some use, I think I managed to squeeze all that into about 5 minutes, and if it's of any use to you I can send you across a copy of my speech for you to look at?

2 Days wasn't quite enough, but I think I did pretty well from that list. Utility room, downstairs WC and Conservatory have been completely cleaned, furniture/accessories put back and have been officially ticked off as "finished" :-) Pram shopping was a success, Mama's & Papa's Sola bought from the outlet store at Cheshire Oaks with £130 off the list price as it had no box. Children ferried round as required, arriving where they needed to be at the right times (and more importantly collected at the right times :-) ). Didn't get round to doing the bedroom or start the nursery, but the house has had a good general tidy and we've given the garage a bit of a sort out and taken a load of junk to the tip. Sadly no golf though, although I am now playing three times this week so that will make up for it :-)

Thanks Vik, You're correct in that not being able to do the register through the second timeline is a new addition to the overall problem....in fact it has only occurred since we implemented the Sims Spring Release last week. I thought something similar to you ont he refreshing of the screen, however even if the user exits Sims.net completely and reopens it all, they still get the same problem.

I'll be doing what I seem to do every weekend......try to take over the world!!! (Pinky & The Brain anyone?) Failing that, it will be continuing with the mess that is our house, putting rooms back together which have now finished being decorated (utility room and conservatory finished and just need cleaning and putting back together) and finishing decorating our bedroom and starting the nursery and general house cleaning (although we may well go pram shopping tomorrow) plus regular step dad duties (stepdad's taxi's)....may try and sneak out for some golf all being well :-) Not sure that two days is going to be enough :-s

Just a bit of a follow up on this. Since the Spring Update, with the new style timeline/homepage, Staff have raised the issue that they cannot see certain lessons when they access Take Register either. Scenario, Head of English this morning has been put on a cover for registration. Same as my first post on this, in that it appears in his timeline in yellow, but when he double clicks on it, nothing happens. So he tries to access it through the Take Register Icon. On the screen that comes up through this, on the timeline, he still can only see the lessons for which he is regularly timetabled (even lessons that are PPA time no longer appear in here). I think, prior to the Spring release, this wasn't the case and you could access the cover registration period from this second timeline, however it is now no longer the case. Again, is this normal behaviour? Why have capita decided to make this change which has led to confusion with a number of our staff? I appreciate staff can get to the cover registration by searching for the class, but it's yet another step in a process that seems unnecessary. Any thoughts would be gratefully received Thanks Iain

Afternoon all, We're currently in the middle of a Network Replacement project and are looking at our filtering options. We're currently a Bloxx school, however there is an agreement through the LA where we can get a smoothwall license from them so we're looking at installing SWG as a virtual appliance. I was wondering if anyone has done this and what spec VM they are running it on? Thanks in advance Iain

Agreed, if there are less accidents and people are moving more freely then yes it must be better.....I just don't know how that's happening, as pedestrians have been told it's a shared space and as a result think it's ok to just step out into the road without looking who's coming
