After being told that we had to provide this, we agreed to put a TV up in our canteen. Within 24 hours, someone had stabbed it with a pen and shattered the screen.

IE11 + Google Home Page problem???
Iain.Faulkner replied to a topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
This was a horrible issue! Without this place I would never have worked out that it was SmartInk causing the problem! I think that moving to the latest version of the free Smart software (11.4) will also resolve this issue.- 14 replies

I'm more or less 6' 2"....I had a starting weight of 20 Stone 1lb....still a fair way to go yet. My weight has more or less stabilised at the moment....struggling to make it my main focus at the moment, but want to get back on it in September when we get back into a more normal routine. Until then, I'll try my best, and hopefully lose a bit more, but the main aim for the next few weeks is to maintain what I achieved until this point.

I tend to use CP LTD for equipment. No online catalogue, but can source anything you need :-)

Ha, not quite :-) But I am significantly lighter than I have ever been as an adult :-)

I keep forgetting about this thread :-( Last weeks weigh in I went to a total loss of 61.5lb's :-) (4 Stone 5.5lb's)...hoping to get another 1.5lb's off this week (weigh in tomorrow) to get to 4 1/2 stone :-)

Sorry, I should have added that. I have done that already :-)

Hopefully this is the right place for this :-) Struggling a bit with a weird one with Quicktime plugins. Clients are running Windows 7, IE 11 and the latest version of Quicktime, and one of our IT Teachers wants to use the following website for activities week next week.... BBC - History - World Wars: Life in The Trenches Virtual Tour However, when I click on "Launch Virtual Tour" I get an error message as follows.... "You are trying to view Quicktime content, but you have no Quicktime plugin installed." I've checked the add-ons in IE11 and there is no Quicktime plugin installed. I've tried reinstalling Quicktime, and ensured that the plugins install with the rest of the player, but I still get the same issue. Any suggestions? Thanks Iain

Thanks again Skell, Just disabled Smartink, and it resolved the issue. I'm now looking into upgrading SmartNotebook to the latest version......although apparently I now have to pay for upgrades!! Iain

Hi Skell, Thanks for the suggestion, have you experienced this issue? Did this fix it? Thanks Iain

The behaviour happens for all users. There's no specific GPO's for IE with the exception of setting home pages and proxy settings.

Thanks Michael, I tried that on one of the Pc's that's got the issue, however the issue then exists on IE10 as well :-( IE11 didn't break my test PC like this :-(

Thanks again for coming back to me.. I've uninstalled IE11 and the update and reinstalled both.....but the problem is still there :-( I can go back to IE9, and this does get rid of the problem, however I only approved IE10 & 11 to get rid of an issue I had in IE9 :-( (the problem I had in IE9 was that when you click google search, it would open hundreds of tabs in IE). Any other suggestions?
-
Thanks for the replies :-) I've tried this, and the update is already applied on one of the affected machines. But the problem still persists :-(

Morning all, We've been having a few problems with Internet Explorer 11 since we rolled it out through WSUS earlier this week. Essentially the issue is that when users come to type anything into a text box, like in order to do a google search for example, IE doesn't allow them to type. In addition, there is a large blank bar that appears at the top of the page, pushing the rest of the page content off the screen (so you have to scroll down to find it). This isn't on every PC, and seems to affect both student, teaching and admin staff. Anyone experienced anything similar? Thanks Iain

IT Technician - Poynton High School, Cheshire
Iain.Faulkner replied to Iain.Faulkner's topic in Educational IT Jobs
Hi Mike, Our Technician is off to be a Junior Penetration Tester for a company in Manchester. When he joined us, he told us very openly that his long term aim was to get into IT Security. The particular role he's moving to doesn't seem to become available overly often. It just so happened that the role became available, so he applied and got the first one he went for. He actually seems pretty gutted to be leaving. - - - Updated - - - Update for you http://www.phs.cheshire.sch.uk/Vacancies.html Vacancy is now advertised....as before, if anyone has any questions please feel free to drop me a line and I'll answer what I can :-) -

Morning all, The Technician who we appointed last year, has now also resigned.......so I believe the position of IT Technician will be re-advertised in the semi near future. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to drop me a message and I'll answer what I can. As soon as the post has been officially re-advertised I'll post an updated link. Iain -
Hi Col :-) Sadly it's not something that I can have a huge amount of influence on. It's the English Department's money and they've decided they want iPads...so that's what we're getting :-(
-
Morning all, I'm after a bit of advice. Our English Department is about to purchase a number of Tablet Devices....let's call them iPads. As part of the project, I want them to buy a lockable storage cabinet/trolley to store them in overnight and charge them (not too worried about having sync functionality at this point). Any recommendations? Sadly, I'm looking for something as cheap as possible. I've seen this Kensington Charge and Sync Cabinet K67771EU for.. | Ebuyer.com Which looks like it will do the job, but was wondering if anyone had anything else they recommend? (if you could give me an idea of what you paid as well, that would be amazing). Thanks in advance Iain
