  1. Just thought I'd throw these in here as well :-)
  2. An impressive and very diverse set of hobbies/past times on here... I have a 21 month old son, so he takes up the vast majority of my time. Other than him, I try to play golf at least once a week (with the odd range session thrown in as well). I'm training for the Manchester 10k so try to get out running 2/3 times a week including being a ParkRun convert on a Saturday morning (I'm grateful for the wakeup call my son gives me on a weekend)....I play a bit of football...pretend to be a Manchester City fan (although I don't go so much anymore, but did have a season ticket for 6 years just prior to the Sheik buying the club)...big fan of Lego, my house has a large number of lego models dotted around it which I spend a large amount of time protecting from my son :-)
  3. I've spent years winding my wife up about how we need a lego death star in the house (she prefers the AT-AT)....I will be keeping an eye out for this :-) My Lego Spiderman and Lego Donatello are looking a bit worn as well :-)
  4. Quite possible, although it has now been doing the same thing for two different members of staff. Trying to find a way of restoring it to factory settings, but doesn't look an obvious way! But I will look at the drivers as well, thanks
  5. We've had 15 Zoostorms in school for 5 years now (warranty expires this summer)....they've never been a problem for us. I'm desperately trying to place an order with VeryPC but price always gets in the way unfortunately. If you're looking at ZooStorm, then do look at ERGO PC's as well as they are actually the same PC just with a different badge (built by the same company so I believe.....is it CMS?) we've got around 200 of their PC's in school and have only had a handful have issues in the 2 years or so we've been buying them. Ergo have had a few problems as a company, but do seem to have turned it around in the last 6 months.
  6. Sorry, should have said. This is a local printer and isn't shared
  7. Hi all, Slightly odd one. We've got a Samsung ML-2851ND in the office of our head of drama. It's fairly recently started churning out page after page of printer check pages (test pages, configuration pages etc). I've done the obvious in restoring it back to factory settings, and had a look around to see what I can find but can't find any solutions. Any ideas? Thanks Iain
  8. I remember seeing Keith Harris at our Student Union about 10 years ago....it was one of the filthiest shows I saw (some of the things Cuddles said were appalling) and utterly hilarious....a great loss :-(
  9. Thanks @witch I'm going to try and see a physio (I've just been told that I haven't broken my neck following an incident, but done some muscular damage so need physio on that) so I'll try and get both looked at at the same time
  10. Now done my third park run...set another new pb of 27 minutes 48 seconds :-) Unfortunately I now seem to have picked up an injury...very very tight left hamstring. Hurts to run :-( Hoping a bit of time off will help, but the Manchester 10k is a week on Sunday...so a bit worried now :-(
  11. Great effort @elsiegee40 :-)Well done... Just in case there's anyone on here who goes to WeightWatchers....I'm going to be in the Magazine in the July edition :-)
  12. Just wanted to add a little bit to this, this was the first school I worked in (left 7 years ago).....it has a great set of staff, and is a school that seems to be moving in the right direction. Well worth an application.
  13. Ran my second park run at the weekend, took 50 seconds off my pb :-) pb now at 28 minutes 10 seconds..... Not bad for someone who couldn't run 1km at the beginning of the year :-)
  14. I've been very busy on my running in the last few weeks.....I've now completed C25K!! (slightly disappointed, I wanted to see fireworks come out of my phone or something, but not to be)....absolutely thrilled to have actually done the whole program :-) I've been doing 3 runs a week, with two shorter runs and one longer run....last night I ran my first 10k!! Hit 10k at 59 minutes and 45 seconds, which I was ecstatic at :-) I can't wait for the Manchester 10k now in a few weeks, I know I can run the whole thing and I know I can run it in under an hour :-)
  15. I watched the Imitation Game last night. Great film :-)
  16. We've got a few generic bits...Server updates, maintenance. Maintenance of the IT Suites, try and clear out a few of the longer standing jobs on the job list. Main job, I think, is going to be trying to tidy the main comms room. The place is a jungle. So in preparation for our summer work, I'm going to test each point, label, and then remove any points that are no longer required....if I get that room finished, then I'll try and do some of the other cabs as well.
  17. Although we are still awaiting confirmation of funds..... We will be getting rid of 90 Core 2 PC's (variety of manufacturers), 1Gb Ram, 40Gb HDD. Hopefully, all our existing switches will be removed (with the exception of a handful) :-) fingers crossed the money is confirmed soon!
  18. Morning all, Went out and did Week 8 run 2 on Tuesday having done a couple of consolidation runs, just sticking to the C25K app, in between (week 7 run 3 & week 8 run 1) and hit a new personal best! Total exercise time 50 minutes, 5 minutes warm up walk, 5 minutes cool down walk...covered a total distance of 8.1km!! My 5km time was a little slower at 28:58 but still under 30 minutes, so I'm really pleased with it as a run :-) Going out tomorrow morning to do my first ever parkrun :-) Just 5km so should be ok I think :-)
  19. We've got a black fridge :-(
  20. There is definitely a lot to be said for freezing portions of food rather than eating them straight away, I think this has been key to my weight loss this time.....as not only does it stop me eating portions that are too big, but also on nights when I'm tired and don't want to cook from scratch I know I've got something ready that will take 10 minutes in the microwave that is healthy. One extra thing we've found useful, is a magnetic whiteboard on the freezer door with a list of what's inside. Makes life a whole lot easier :-)
  21. I watched Divergent last night, found it very watchable...felt a bit like the hunger games in a lot of ways
  22. We do the same with pasta sauce now, either tins of chopped tomatoes, or jars of passata as the base and then add chilli, garlic, herbs, veg etc to make the sauce how we fancy it (sometimes even a splash of red wine!). @CHR1S it really is amazing isn't it how much weight can fluctuate over a week and even over the course of a day. I know that my lightest point in the week is first thing on a Friday morning (I weigh myself then to give myself a little boost) and my heaviest is last thing on a Sunday night. Between those two times I've seen an 8lb difference in the weights. I think I'm back on track now :-) I've had two weeks of working hard at WeightWatchers and had 2 good losses......2.5lb's the first week and 2lb's the second. So I'm now back under 15 stone (so about what I was before Christmas), my weight loss is back over 5 stone again and the amount of weight I need to lose for a "healthy" BMI is down to 15 lb's again :-) Really pleased and am looking to keep it going over this next week as well and hopefully get down to the lightest I have ever been as an adult (only needs another 2lb loss).
  23. I have a 55% match to Winchester.....but I'm 53% suited to where I already live, so I think I'll stay put :-)
  24. At my last school (in Stockport LEA), we loaned just over £300k from the local authority and did a complete server refresh, replaced all desktops and did an IT Suite revamp (new desks, cabling, flooring, painting, lighting etc etc), I believe that once they'd repaid that loan, they've since taken out a second one of slightly less (approx £200k) and done a full wired infrastructure replacement, site wide wireless and also purchased a significant number of iPad's. Certainly it is possible, and it is an option we're trying to find out if it's possible to do in my current LA. In terms of our plans.... Main expenditure will be a complete replacement of all network switches, cabinets, termination of points, running a lot of fibre (we barely have any currently) replacing some existing copper, adding some new and rerouting some of the existing copper. Alongside that will be a site wireless project and potentially some sort of mobile device for all staff. Let's hope we get the money :-)
  25. Watched the Secret Life of Walter Mitty last night....really enjoyed it :-)
