I've checked the name in the task sequence and it refers to the correct one. I may re-import it and set it up again to be sure
-
Its a range of programmes, even stuff like office which worked fine when I first tested it! I might try manually pushing the wim to a machine from a usb stick, just to make sure I haven't mucked up the deployment task somehow
-
Trying to sort deployment out while doing 15 other jobs at the same time, so sure I've missed something obvious. I've created a task in mdt with a pause in it so I can manually install some software - I've decided for now it is quicker than automating it all, that will come when I have more time. I installed all the software, did all other tweaks I wanted, all looked fine. I resume the task sequence and it captures a new wim, which is about 15gb so looks like it has everything in it. If I re-boot the vm I just captured, it boots up and all the software is there. I then import the wim I captured into a new deployment share on mdt, create a new task and deploy it to a client (a vm in this instance, to test). All installs ok, but all the software is missing! Is there something obvious I'm doing wrong?

Office 365 smtp stopped working

Turns out ours was a problem with our ISP and was affecting everyone in the LEA who used them. Not sure what it was but they have fixed it now. Thanks for all the help. -
Office 365 smtp stopped working
steveg replied to steveg's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
I've tried logging in to one of the accounts and it goes in fine, no prompt for password. I've just realised that we had no emails from Netsupport DNA all day either, so that's another system. I'm guessing it must be a smoothwall / firewall issue now, although I'm not aware of any changes. Steve -
Office 365 smtp stopped working

Thanks, useful to know it's probably something here then, just need to work out what is affecting 2 different systems and accounts! -
Has anyone had any issues with SMTP through office 365 not working anymore? I use it for my backup software to send me emails, and for a network copier to send scans. They each have an account setup, and authenticate using this over a secure connection. All was working fine last Friday, then both stopped emailing. Steve

We use Airwatch as our mdm for ipads, and have done for a few years now. Generally I've found it to be very good, and their support has always been good. I haven't used another mdm solution, so can't offer a comparison. The only thing with Airwatch that is really useless is their sales team - our current subscription ran out in October last year, and we've ended up going through a reseller and still haven't actually paid for it yet! Primary School Library Software Recommendations

We moved to Libresoft about a month ago and have been extremely happy with it. -
Do you have any cards installed in the server? I had a 10gig network card in one server that caused almost identical symptoms. Swapping it out for a new card fixed the issue. Steve

What make of server is it? Have you installed their management software on it to check for issues? Are there any bios updates available for it? Steve

I've just brought my first lot of computers from VeryPc - went with some intel NUC computers mounted on monitors and have been very happy with them so far. They are replacing some refurb dells we got a few years ago. Nothing wrong with the refurbs, they have just come to the end of their useful life. I wouldn't be put off buying them again, just the budget allowed for new pc's this time and I don't know how much we'll have in the future, so long life was important. Steve

Have you tested the cable? running at 100Mb it will only use 2 pairs, 4 wires. running at Gigabit it will use all 4 pairs, 8 wires. Have you tried forcing the hp's to 100Mb when connecting directly? Also worth checking the length of the run? Steve

Great, thanks everyone. I think I was looking for an answer of this is the right way to do it, when actually there are lots of different acceptable ways depending on the environment, different software, departments, upgrade cycles etc.

Windows 10 education, so I plan to re-deploy fairly regularly, hopefully automating as much as possible.

I had a problem with an HP printer in our office, that would sometimes show that when it ran out of paper, but adding more paper wouldn't fix the issue, it would need the spooler restarting. If staff remembered to fill it up before it ran out it seemed to be ok. An upgraded driver seemed to fix the issue, although you mention you are on the latest ones already. Steve

It's in capita myaccount which you have to log in to see I think: https://myaccount.capita-cs.co.uk/Notifications/capita-hosted-services-status-page/ Steve

Service status on Capita site shows full outage. Steve

This looks like instructions for that raid controller https://vdgsecurity.com/kb/megaraid-storage-manager-manual/ Do check your backups - they are fairly big drives for a raid 5 array (unless they are ssds) and there is a chance the rebuild process will fail and you will lose everything. Performance will also be poor while it is rebuilding, which will take a while. Steve

We have a lot of Dell lattitude 3340 laptops that stand up to primary school pupils pretty well. One survived being thrown at me! Steve

I've used https://www.ipadrepairs.co.uk/ for a few years, they take school purchase orders, and can arrange collection and return delivery if required. Steve

[sims] Update to the SIMS Teacher App - Timings

I got the bad gateway error, and it turned out to be caused by a filtering issue - the ipads worked fine off a hotspot on my phone. *.servicebus.windows.net needs to be unfiltered - not sure why this suddenly became an issue for us in the last 2 days, but adding that fixed it for us. Steve -
Have you tried turning off Energy Efficient Ethernet, in the advanced settings tab of the network card properties? Steve

I haven't brought any server RAM in quite some time, but always used to buy it from Crucial, much cheaper and they guaranteed compatibility. Steve
