We got a load of Intel NUC computers with vesa mounts and monitors from VeryPC which we've been very happy with. Even had our branding put on them too, look very smart!

We put our school admission form into Microsoft Forms this year, as it was pretty tricky to get everyone to collect and then bring in paper forms. Also makes more sense having it all in the spreadsheet ready to input into sims than manually typing it all.

I'm pretty sure we can, but felt it was best for them to be able to use the app store and not be limited to what we provide for them. We can audit the ipads and see what they have installed.

Thanks, does sound like there isn't much I can do then. Will just run a compliance policy and speak to anyone that flags up as having it installed. I guess the only way I could do it would be to actually deploy the apps we don't want them to have, forcing them to be managed, and then remove them! Seems a bit backwards though.

This is going to be for staff ipads, we want them to be able to install apps themselves for testing them out before we deploy to children etc, but i need to be able to block (and remove if already installed) a few specific apps.

Does anyone know how to stop certain apps being installed on ipads managed with airwatch, and also to remove them if they are already installed? I can create an app blacklist but it doesn't seem to do anything, and creating a compliance policy only seems to give me the option to remove managed apps, not one that someone may have installed themselves.

Can someone point me in the direction of how to find the daily attendance figures in sims? I have the attendance summary on my sims home page, but this gives the total for the week, not the day. We are a primary school, so only 2 sessions a day. I'm sure this should be simple, but I can't see where it's hidden without running a report and calculating it myself.

We have around 400 client devices (roughly half windows desktops / laptops and half ipads) plus all the usual infrastructure, 500 pupils and 75 staff, primary school. IT is just me, full time, but I also line manage the caretaker and cleaners, overall responsibility for the site, and am project manager for all projects, not just IT. My time is roughly split an average of 3 days a week on IT 2 days a week on other tasks. Obviously all sites vary with user need, age of equipment etc but the hours you have seem around right to me.

I think it makes sense to the desktop, as it allows cat5e cable to be used up to 100m. There aren't that many places that have 6a to every socket to allow 10 gig to the desktop.

For all but certain key staff we enforce a retention policy of 26 months, which allows them to find emails from 2 years ago if they need to.

Do you have Hikvision cameras? How is performance on your system?

If they are like their Lapbank trolleys then I wouldn't recommend them. Finally got rid of the last one of them this summer (currently waiting to be scrapped unless anyone wants a 16 bay laptop trolley? :-) ) Although they are solid and well made, they are terrible for chopping cables in the doors, heavy, not very space efficient and the ones that open both ends are always unpopular with staff.

We use the ipad troleys from zioxi and have always been very happy with them. Have them for laptops too, never had 1 break and have about 10 here now.

Splitting off from the other thread about CCTV software, it seems that different users are getting varying performance with luxriot software. Here it is quite slow to load to a specific time (up to 10 seconds) and playback, especially backwards can be very jerky and slow. Server is virtualised but a good spec, and a relatively small number of cameras (currently 8, but was same performance with 4. Can I check what cameras other people are using with it, and what settings? Here they are all hikvision cameras, and the settings on the camera are as follows: Resolution 3840 * 2160 Bitrate type: variable Video Quality: Medium Frame rate: 8fps Max bitrate: 5120Kbps Max Average bitrate: 2560Kbps Video Encoding: H.265 H.265+: On (on the newer cameras that support this) I have the same setup at home, only running off a pc, but just 1 older hikvision camera and performance is similarly bad.

I get very similar performance to ap_ Server used to only have 4 cameras on it, now has 8 but performance has been the same. Server only has 1gig network, but that should be enough? My pc is an i7 with 12gb ram, and the server is virtualised but is the only vm running on the server, and has 4 cores and 16gb ram allocated to it, only sata disks but has 4 of them in a raid 10 array.

We use luxriot evo here too, not the most intuitive setup on the admin side but wasn't that bad, and user side is nice and simple. I've found playback a little slow, but not unusably so, not sure what other peoples experience is?

Our new Konica's work fine with office 365. It's one thing that actually does work reliably!

We have a c360i and 6 c3350i, then one older model which seems ok. The c360i has mostly been ok, but needed a complete new system board after about 4 weeks, and since it was changed comes up with security errors every so often that they haven't yet resolved (does work though) the c3350i's have the issues with going offline and needing tweaks to make them work.

We had all Konicas installed over the summer holidays, all but 1 are the newer i series. At the moment i'd never get them again! We've had a major fault with 2 out of the 8 of them, one taking a couple of weeks to fix and the other a month because no parts were in the country. The drivers are flakey at best, the firmware is a long way off being stable, the machine we have in the office freezes at least 3 times a week needing powering off to get it working again, had to tweak various settings to stop them randomly going off-line (following advice of their engineer who had problems with them in a lot of places). The older series one that we have seems to be fairly reliable!

If it is Net2 system that you have, if you have the pro version of the software then there is a smartphone app that lets you open doors. I'm pretty sure there is also an api available if you want to write your own software for it. In the main office here we just wired a switch onto each desk from the main door release - just used door bells mounted under each desk.

I've used Kave for our servicing and have been impressed with them, had previously heard good things. Based in Hove so should cover you.
