How much do staff use ICT? Secondary or primary school? Types of devices used? How much time is spent on staff training? What other roles come under the IT team? How much is invested in ICT? Age of equipment? What is the infrastructure like? Local servers or primarily cloud based? I don't think there is an easy x number of people + devices = x amount of support.

We are a primary school and use Libresoft, does everything we want, just works. We run it off 2 iPads in our library.

I think from what i've read and what others are saying on here, the cards actual have a 26(?) digit number encoded in them, but paxton only uses 8 numbers from it. If the reader that signinapp uses uses a different 8 digits then there wont be a way to convert between them.

Did you ever get anywhere with this? We have Net2 cards and sign in app now, and as you say the numbers that they scan in no way relate to each other. Currently getting staff to manually enroll. I did speak to paxton and they confirmed that they don't encrypt it, so it must just be it reading a different part of the number or storing it differently.

I'm not sure how much demand there would be now for a new communication app? When we moved from SIMS to a cloud MIS we ditched all other comms apps, that was one of the draws of a new cloud based MIS. Edulink does well at the moment because it does a lot of things very well that SIMS doesn't do, or does poorly. It would be harder to justify buying Edulink if you have an MIS capable of doing most of the things it does already. Even if the app was slightly better than what we used now and free, there is still a cost of having another app - training, maintaining, data etc that would most likely mean it wouldn't be considered.

They had to suspend the Beta due to some issues between Wonde and Arbor but are aiming to restart this quite soon.

If you don't want many fancy features then might be worth considering the Smart GX series, only annoying thing about them is the freeze function involves holding a button for 5 seconds, other than that they seem pretty good solid boards.

Not entirely sure what you are trying to do, but try: Open calendar in Outlook, go to file, save calendar and save it as an ics file. Open this file - it will open back into Outlook but back to your own calendar. Now go to file, open and export, import / export , export to a file, CSV, and pick the calendar you just imported, finish off the wizard.

Just check current pole diameter, they are largely all the same but not always the case.

Can't be much help as it was a while ago I set our up, but we use NPS. Only thing I remember is that you have to set each wireless point as a client, not the controller as you may in other managed wireless systems.

Not tried the Unifi stuff, but what system do you use at the moment? I swapped all of our old paxton Switch 2 kit out with Net 2, its a pretty simple system and was quite straight forward to do. Almost all our old fobs worked with net2 so we didn't have to buy any more.

As said above, If the link to an MDM is removed in your apple school manager a reset of the ipad should set it free.

This sounds sort of like what happens here. I get the device to show in Mobile and Endpoints, Devices when I have logged into a google managed account on them and can push some things out to it, but I cannot make it a company owned device. From what others have said it seems like I need a paid subscription to make them company owned (or buy them through an approved reseller, which is a bit late now!)

Has anyone else come across issues with Smartboard LCD screens (specifically GX075 model in our case) communicating with Chinese cloud computing sites? One of ours logged over 150,000 hits to https://overseas-america-6.oss-us-west-1.aliyuncs.com in a day. I suspect it is related to the Eshare software on them, as earlier in our logs it makes requests to http://hub.ee-share.com/lic/eshareauth.php which it turns out is also Chinese based. I have logged a call with Smart and taken the devices off the network for now, just wondered if anyone else has come across this?

We have a few staff android phones that I want to fully manage through our google admin portal. (Very new to google admin) I am trying to import them as company owned devices but when I try and import I only get the option of Mac, Windows, Desktop Chrome OS or Linux as device type, not android? Have I missed something somewhere? I can sort of get them managed by using a managed google account on them, but this still gives too much freedom on the device.

Had a look and not sure you can change the speed on the Smoothwall nic (not from web interface anyway), so may be worth setting it on the switch to troubleshoot Could possibly be something traffic related, as you mention the internet connection also got upgraded. Will be a strange error if it is, but I wouldn't rule it out.

Would still be my default go-to for troubleshooting initially, especially dropping the speed.

I'd definitely change the cable first, start with the most simple. May also be worth changing the smoothwall nic from auto negotiation speed to setting it manually. Maybe even 100 full duplex first, just to see if the issue goes away. Obviously not a long term solution with a gig internet connection.

I would say that the parent app is awful in comparison to the core product, they definitely need to work on the ui in the app but it certainly isn't a reflection of the rest of the product.

Does anyone know of any basic phones (not smart phone, no camera) that have usb C charging? We need to get a few new phones for staff to take on trips, will likely get nokia 105 or 110 but I'd prefer something with USB C charging just for ease of always having a charger around.

We are predominantly ipads too, slowly phasing out windows laptops. They are just cheaper, easier to manage and more reliable.

Is that from Three direct? Seems cheaper than their standard business rates

We've got a fair few GX series now, the only annoying thing about them is the only way to freeze the screen is to hold a button for 5 seconds. This is a crazy long time when you actually have to do it! Other thing I would say is always use good quality hdmi cables, where they are now 4k screens they are much more sensitive to this - the majority of my issues with new boards have been with cables that weren't up to the job.
