Reading this thread is making me wonder whether our piSignage-based displays are worth it... All we do is show jpgs lol, and the software isn't great to deploy on our thin clients - server-side, it doesn't run in pm2 so it's an eyesore every time I remote into the application server. I might give Slides-based signage a go.

I would imagine it would be a startup script with something like: \\dcfilesrv\ExamSoftware\autologon.exe /accepteula exam ContosoHighSchoolDomain exampassword - once that has run once it should stick in the registry for the next reboot

Anyone have any advice on how to deploy the config file? We've got it all how we like it on 1 device, I was thinking just put the file on a share somewhere and run a copy to Program Files as a start up script? E: I'd really like to avoid running it off a network drive if possible.

Just rang Libresoft to get a quote and I'm already impressed... I called, gave them my details and they're shipping a quote over to me already! No point sitting through hours of meetings to find out it's not within budget...

Hi all, Curious what the braintrust thinks about the different options for library management software - i.e loan management for books. Ideally integrated with LDAP or Google Workspace if possible! We're on Allensby QuickTrack atm but our lovely librarian isn't best pleased with it, and to be honest I'd much rather something more modern. Cheers!

Allowing students to legally listen to music during lessons
dafyddf replied to David44's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
I Like Music do a school-specific streaming service. Pricing wasn't horrendous iirc. -
Broadcast using this tool or stereo tool if you want it to sound nice. I have a config guide if you want

Thank you so much - you're a star! The admin team will be delighted

Hi all, is there any way I can design a report in SIMS that lets our admin team select users from a list in the filtering section? Currently, we have a report that generates emergency contact details for trips, but to use it, it prompts to select year groups, then they have to deselect every user not in the trip in the preview window. I can see the option to filter by name, but it's really not ideal because you need one filter condition for every pupil on the trip, so not really ideal.

BETT 2023 GIVEAWAY - What is your earliest gaming memory?
dafyddf replied to VeryPC's topic in Our Advertisers
2004 baby here (working in edu IT, I know, weird) - my earliest clear memory was creating my character on the family Wii! -
Have been investigating using kiosk mode, my concern is that currently exams are saved on a flash drive when done, but if there's no explorer access, ejecting flash drives isn't possible. My thought is to just save onto local disk into a preselected folder, and have a shortcut exams officer can click on the examiner's account to copy off, unless anyone has any better ideas.

Login loop on Chromebooks - anyone else having this issue today?
dafyddf replied to TMBS's topic in Cloud Services
Just had this issue rear its head on a student's BYOD device after a password reset - it seems to be happening on all profiles (tried logging in on a gmail profile too and got the account resync prompt). Any thoughts before I get the office to email home telling them to powerwash? -
Looking at ExamWritePad for our exam laptop deployments - making a completely fresh image. Our exams officer is thrilled by it - but I'm worried at how easy it is to re-enable spell check in the config - does launching with /Config permit a .json that only contains 1 setting? i.e the one to re-enable spellcheck? I guess the recommended way to stop pupils from launching with their own configs anyway is to just make the installed config read only, and disable notepad/wordpad/cmd/powershell/run for the exam user. But maybe I'm overthinking it.
