Things not printing off one printer.
Grey-gear replied to abillybob's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
Could it be that the memory of the printer is on it's way out or just getting overloaded. I'm guessing it doesn't work when you turn it off and on again? To get on the good side of the admin staff is there another printer you can swap in as a temp to give you time? Is the printer under warranty still? -

Is this for one user or all users? If it is just for one delete the profile (after backing up any important data) and the get the user to log on. If it is for all users log on to the locally and set the keyboard to UK in there and then try.

[news] Woman says she was fired via Twitter (before starting job)
Grey-gear replied to abillybob's topic in Jokes/Interweb Things
Though it's bad for the person in question I can't see why you would want to do what she did. Yes it's a job and there are going to be parts that you don't like but there will be parts you do, an example is that during college I worked for a retailer and it was not the rubbish work the part that kept me able to go in was my co-workers (and the money). As long as person in question was on a probation period I don't see anything wrong with what her employer did, maybe phone instead of tweet. Just another good reason not to get twitter. -
Maybe they just got lost and still yet to find their way home

I've been working under a SLA for two and bit years now and with what I have experienced it's not to bad. We get the staff to use our helpdesk as a first point of contact they just need to E-mail a support address and the helpdesk generates the call\ticket from that, sure it took awhile for the staff to adjust but once they got use to it then it became second nature for them. I work with a few other Techs and normal we just pick the ones we want\the are left and if needs be the NM will assign tasks. Depending on what your SLA will be depend on how push it will make you but it could help priorities jobs. The one I work to has three levels, level 3 that allows up to a week to fix issues, level 2 that allows three days to fix the issue, level 1 that allows 14 hours and level 0 that means drop everything and get it fixed. Can the helpdesk that you are using do automated reports? If so that may save you time in the day to get them running. I think though the SLA is there it has not real changed how I was working before I was moved on to it. Hope this helps
