It could be at start up, logon, or assigned to be installed manually depending upon how it's allocated. Check the event logs on the affected machine and you'll see application installer stuff which should when finished show a successful message (or failure). Did you make the MSI yourself or was it a precreated one?

I'd do it localzuk's way. Leave moodle.tanfieldschool.co.uk pointing to 217.23.224.4 on the cpanel dns. Knock up a zone on your internal DNS and point moodle.tanfieldschool.co.uk to the internal ip 1.2.3.4. I'd then check that the webserver vhost/servername is set to expect requests on moodle.tanfieldschool.co.uk which will be irrelevant of the IP used internally or externally. *Be aware though if you have anythingelse.tanfieldschool.co.uk you'll need to add them to this zone or they may fail*

Yep completely agree, belt and braces approach is essential, to the point we even considered how to interact with parents to ensure they explained the student version sufficiently for it to make sense. Fortunately the above was actually an appendix to the whole AUP so there was no excuses for missing info. The Northants county standard policy is excellent in itself, the ICT in schools team excelled themselves (Lisa is an e-safety goddess) I merely adapted it to more snugly fit our needs and Tony you know you're more than welcome to it (if you don't have a copy as is).

Hi Chris, You can add the particular batchfiles/reghacks / script path into a software exceptions policy under a GPO and this would circumvent the normal restrictions on the command prompt/registry editor during login. If that doesn't help, might be worth enabling the policy to make logon scripts visible incase it's doing something daft and eventually timing out.

Ah, sticky spot How many machines are you talking about for this? Might be easier to try and log onto one of them and manually uninstall it to see if this clears it up. (or use msizap to clean up the cruft in the msi database if it's removed the app but cried over some file that's changed (windows update is a classic for this!))

Hi Sam, Looking at your location as Northampton (near me:)) your school possibly already has a VLE with LP+ but for whatever reason haven't used it. (It was pretty dire for a while but has improved considerably since). This VLE is sharepoint based, held outside of the school but yes does have a separate username/password combination. - There are steps being taken to have this utilise simplified sign on with EMBC if they are providing your connection. Best person to talk to is Tony Sheppard at County (Grumbledook on these forums) as he's the man sorting it all out and making it play nicely for Northamptonshire.

If that doesn't work you may be able to gleam useful information from the card itself or its hardware id in control panel.
