I assume you've tried taking one of the working set ups, and switched the monitor from that to one where it doesn't work to help point fault? Also, the mouse can plugged into the sun keyboard, see if that works?

Hi, Sounds like you're logged onto the machine / have drives mapped to the DC as 'one' user but are using another user to process the username change. Try logging on AND changing the name with the same user account, making sure there aren't any scripts mapping drives to the domain controllers with a 'separate' set of hard coded credentials.

It's quite handy for quick stuff like that. If you use set without any arguments/parameters it'll helpfully show you all of the current environment variables.

As maniac said, you could script this quite easily in a login script something along the lines of: SET CLASSTMP=W:\TEMP

Sorry, can you elaborate a bit, I can't make out the intention from your post. Are you trying to set the userprofile environment variable to point somewhere, or are you trying to make a new environment variable? Are you in an AD network?

I'd check two things: 1) The length of the group &/ the underscores. 2) Can you confirm/check &/show AD/UC with that relevant layout ie, an ou staff directly under your domain, and an ou under that called groups. (maybe it's the other way around, groups>staff?) Domain>Staff>Groups

I wouldn't touch Tiscali with a barge pole personally.; certainly not until we see what CPW do with them. If you want decent email and webspace, I'd buy it separate from whichever provider you go with as it makes it easier in the future should you choose to move.

I tend to do mine similarly but rather than IP I use names. So anything that's not forums.mysite.com or moodle.mysite.com lands on the top vhost (mysite.com) so I can have mysite.com/images mysite.com/etc as well as having moodle.mysite.com/images being separate. The logfiles are a pretty good idea too if you're building something and want to review the logs in a localised environment rather than for the whole box.

I must be one of *those* people ... I've ran 64bit Linux for years and put up with the odd driver problems and helped put them right. The other half has ran 64bit Vista since the old beta's and now 64bit W7 RC and not had a single problem, gamer, etc.
