Hey Two questions, how can i match a url with a dot in it, currently im using a line like this, RewriteRule ^music/([^/\.]+)/images/?$ artist/images.php?artist=$1 but when there's an artist such as Run D.M.C. it doesn't work, and i dont know enough about regular expressions to know how to fix it I've also got a url which should be something like /music/ARTIST/ALBUM/ so how can i make this work while also keeping the /music/ARTIST/images/ working? Thanks Jack

Many, many hours of work has paid off in a CentOS 5 machine with apache 2.2 serving up secured folders that require logged-in Active Directory users to access. This is for a corporate intranet, which I am VERY much looking forward to getting off of Windows 2003 Server! I've run into a wall, however, one which appears pretty rare, if my Google searches are any indication. The secured folder (/pvt) is very puzzling to apache. For instance, it doesn't serve up a default index page, giving a 404 error when the folder is accessed directly (http://arweb5/pvt). The access log shows the AD user's id, as it should. If I specify a (html) web page, it renders as raw html in Firefox. It renders okay in IE7, due (I know) to IE's mangling of www code standards. If I specify a php web page in either browser, I get the raw php code. These behaviors are all absent if I turn ntlm_auth off on the folder. The default index page suddenly gets served up, the php is translated at the server level, providing a nice finished product in the browser (Firefox or IE). Here's the appropriate httpd.conf code: AuthName "NTLM Authentication thingy" NTLMAuth on NTLMBasicAuthoritative on NTLMAuthHelper "/usr/bin/ntlm_auth --helper-protocol=squid-2.5-ntlmssp" NTLMBasicRealm MFC require valid-user RewriteEngine On Any help much appreciated!

Hi guys, Wondering if anyone knows of a way to redirect a domain name from http://www.yourdomain.com to just http://yourdomain.com I'm pretty sure there's a way to go from http://yourdomain.com to http://www.yourdomain.com using mod_rewrite (or is it just a redirect in .htaccess?) Gah, I'm not sure. If anyone has any idea how to achieve this with apache that'd be great. I'm planning on making my own version of tinyurl.com - just as a bit of fun really, and it'd be nice to make sure the domain is a short is possible, preferably without the www. Cheers, Tom.

Setting up an Ubuntu server with Apache2. Basically following the Moodle set up instructions on MoodleDocs Network has a Windows box on it and two Ubuntu Servers. Apache2 is running and I can "ping" the server at 192.168.2.102 from both the Windows box and the Ubuntu box. I have edited /etc/apache2/apache2.conf and added the line "ServerName baldrick" The Server can "see" itself as "baldrick" Neither the windows box nor the ubuntu box on the same network can see baldrick but CAN see 192.168.2.102 Any ideas what I've missed? Thanks

Ok I have Apache running fine and I am setting up various things on the server. The problem is I have set up virtual hosts and now seem to have to set up one for everything I install otherwise it just directs me to the first virtual host. Have I set something up wrong or is this just the way it is?

Hi guys, Wondering if anyone can advise how you combat this problem: I'm running within school a webserver on apache for our joomla school website and moodle, these can be accessed outside school to the public, I now want to re-do our staff intranet using joomla and run it on the same webserver, the setup i want is if someone was to browse to the intranet folder from outside the school I want an authentication box to appear to protect private information but not when the staff access it from within school. Does anyone have a same setup & how do you combat this issue?

Does anyone know how to set moodle up using HTTPS at login? Ive got multiple moodle servers on laptops running as tests. There is no where on the net on how to configure moodle with HTTPS. Im using a WAMP server the LDAPS logins. This is working fine. It woud be great if someone could PM me to talk me through it. Thanks Tim

Hey, I followed the instructions on docs given for Moodle on Sql Server 2008 . I am using apache on windows. There is an error I face " A problem occurred inserting current version into databases ". Just before that I get "Unicode data in a Unicode-only collation or ntext data cannot be sent to clients using DB-Library (such as ISQL) or ODBC version 3.7 or earlier. moodle" . I am using free tds . What am I doing wrong here ? Regards,

Simple question. Can ISA reverse proxy content apache on port 80 internally to https: 443 externally. I have a external IP mapped to ISA server. When i test this externally it works fine and is dropped as the rules are not setup correctly. What i want to happen is this: Client -> Firewall -> ISA -> Apache the content is proxied back to the client. I have a SSL wildcard installed on the ISA and the certificate is showing but i'm struggling big time with the web publishing rule. The external IP will be mapped to a seperate server interally. So https://mydomain.com is really http://mywebserver.mydomain.com and reverse proxied through. Please Help! I'm using ISA 06

Hey Guys an Girls I am trying to write a PHP page to connect to one of my DC's to authenticate users. I havnt played with LDAP before and my knowledge of PHP is limited, so I'm a bit lost in the dark at the moment... I have a Ubuntu server for the site, with the latest PHP, and I have told it to install LDAP, I wasnt sure if I had to do anything after installing it.... I have patched together a PHP script which connects to my server and binds successfully, apparantly. I then want to search for a user called ben and display his details, just to check everything is working. It tells me I have connected using this; // LDAP variables $ldaphost = "ldap://myserver/"; // your ldap servers $ldapport = myport; // your ldap server's port number // Connecting to LDAP $ldapconn = ldap_connect($ldaphost, $ldapport) or die("Could not connect to $ldaphost"); if ($ldapconn) { // binding to ldap server $ldapbind = ldap_bind($ldapconn, $ldaprdn, $ldappass); // verify binding if ($ldapbind) { echo "LDAP bind successful...$ldaprdn"; } else { echo "LDAP bind failed..."; } } When I add the following code the page stops working and just goes white... $ds=dc2 $person = "ben" $dn = "dc=mydomain, dc=local"; $filter="(|(sn=$person*)(givenname=$person*))"; $justthese = array("ou", "sn", "givenname", "mail"); $sr=ldap_search($ds, $dn, $filter, $justthese); $info = ldap_get_entries($ds, $sr); echo $info["count"]." entries returned\n"; What have I forgotten to configure? Is there another setting on the DC I need to enable??? Im Pulling my hair out and dont want to leave it unfixed on a Friday!

I have a site hosted internally which needs to connect to another, externally hosted, site and as such it must go via our proxy server. I've not had to do this before, so don't know where I would set the proxy address to allow this. It isn't possible within the site itself, so it needs to be done for apache itself. Any ideas?

Can anyone spot what I am doing wrong? I am trying to setup a test Apache server to allow staff to look at Moodle and have a play. I have a station running everything fine but I want a simple name for them to enter in the address bar. I have setup the DNS fine but the VirtualHosts seems to be causing me trouble. So I want EduGeek.net to go to the moodle installation. moodle is redirected by DNS to that station. In the http.conf I have: NameVirtualHost *:80 DocumentRoot "C:/Program files/xampp/htdocs/moodle" ServerName moodle But nothing happens. That document path is correct for the folder moodle is installed on & all I get is a network timeout error. Any ideas?
