  2. PDC = PDC/DNS/DHCP/WINS/Profiles SQL = SQL/CMIS Exchange = Exchange Applications = File server for MSIs/network software/print server Yes yes i know, boring mofo that i am... lol
  3. lol doh At least its solved now eh
  4. Have you looked at the share permissions aswell as the folder permissions? Sounds like you have go the share set to "read" without "change" selected
  5. Does anyone know as to why Office 2003 SP2 would expire on WSUS, the other SP2 updates (visio, project etc) are still there??? This is going to cause a major headache if i cant roll SP2 (im doing alot of laptop upgrades and pushing SP2 over wifi is painful), anyone have any ideas?
  6. Probably is Avantis, i just cant be arsed to go look in the server room lol It took down the network once too... before my time tho...
  7. omg lol ive still got an Atlantis(?) CD server (still working i believe) in the corner of the server room, not plugged in of course... I would set up a jukebox, but with MP3s and large cheap storage available it isn't worth the hassle.
  8. Only thing i could suggest, which probably falls under the "usual" umbrella, is to run XP Tablet Edition or Office 2003, which i believe have handwriting support. Other than that, i don't know, sorry.
  9. It picked Gentoo and Slack fer me and im a bit of a n00b lol
  10. You still need to power the cameras tho Tarq, id stick to PoE cameras for performance, reliablity, security and just about any other reason i can think about lol
  11. Why not take this opportunity to upgrade the NT4 network if possible?
  12. I had the same problem that crept up on me, it was related to having the APs attached to a managed switch with Spanning Tree Protocol enabled without configuring the APs as endpoints. In the end, i configured the switch to run RSTP instread of STP, and set the "fast link" option on all ports the APs reside on.
  13. Sadly i'm in that very situation, ironically tho i dont seem to have too many problems with Sophos, it was a pain in the rear end at first but once it settled in it seems to run ok. I do have the same problem as you tho Geoff, but i have been doing an XP migration over the last 2 months and every new XP box works fine, yet the old 2000 clients "appear grey" too. You should be able to psexec the following: \\Server\InterChk\ESXP\setup.exe -user username -pwd password After Sophos has been installed/reinstalled this way they tend to appear in the console.
  14. the 8139s usually have a socket on the board where a PXE chip can be placed (see attached picture) Im guessing you have a mix of cards with and without PXE ROMs on them.

    php help

This is true, im stuck in the "pay for software" mindset at the moment so sometimes "expect" features to be there. as for it being open source, i think id need to learn PHP first lol (sounds like something for the winter months actually, been putting it off for too long now) Im just frustrated that i cant use my MSSQL box :grrr:
  19. A big pile of turd Hows it look in your browsers? its even screwed up on IE6 lol

    php help

Well thats M$ all over Geoff, seems a bit mean to exclude it tho as other companies seem to offer support for MSSQL aswell as MYSQL, cus it royally screws me over as i have an MSSQL box and dont want to have to run yet another application to do a similar job

    php help

Ive got a FreeBSD 5.4 box running Apache 1.3/PHP4 and have similar problems, it wont let me install the PHP MYSQL support package, so looks like im gonna have to compile it myself grrr... On a sidenote, why havent the moodle creators added support for MSSQL, ive got a beast of a SQL box id rather run the DB on but cant. I found a patch file that supposedly upgrades the 1.4.x tree to add support but it chokes on 1.4.5
  23. No idea mate, they were all battery type too so had leaked everywhere, still in the boxes lol
  24. We have been there, done that, got the broken laptops to proove it... Our kids are the same Ninja, tis a nightmare situation and is a massive drain on budgets and time.
