Lies! Have you seen the god awful state of their Linux drivers? OK ill rephrase: At least nVidia can write decent Windows drivers, i cant vouch for linux... From past experiences, ATI drivers have been a pain in the arse to install, configure and have been unstable alot of the time on various windows platforms (9x, ME, 2000 + XP) Ive faced drivers doing poor hardware detection and refusing to install on correct chipsets, stating they are incorect drivers, system hangs after installs and general in game crashes caused by the ATI cards or drivers involved. nVidia on the other hand ive had far less problems with in the past, their unified driver platform has never failed me yet, and i cannot recall a single in game crash caused by nVidia based hardware or drivers. ATIs saving grace: i own an ATI X300 in my laptop, and its worked fine with a variety of games ive thrown at it, only thing that annoys me is the half dozen flickers when it changes screen modes and when power saving modes kick in.

Ive got a pair of these beasts, and yeah, they threatened to rip both my cabs off the walls so i put em on a table and mounted a shelf bout 10" above it to hold monitors with the boxes underneath, will run a dual Xeon Poweredge 2600 for an hour tho with monitor which is impressive Anyway, back on to the question... Just to repeat everyone else but help clarify: You have 2 options, Route the traffic or VLAN it. To route the traffic, you would require either a dedicated hardware router (duh!) or a box with 2 NICs and routing capabilities set up. (Im sure Geoff can advise on a good nix based linux app to do this) If you want to use VLANs, you will required some form of managed switch. IMO, i would look at the VLAN route as it is a lot more expandable and tweakable than a dedicated router solution. Put site 1 comps and site 1 dhcp server in vlan 1 Put site 2 comps and site 2 dhcp server in vlan 2 put any resources you require on both subnets (such as internet gateway or shared resource servers) in to vlan 1 and 2

Im guessing this is for CMIS tosca925? I just use an entry in the login script for staff to copy the ePORTAL shortcut to the staff desktops, but it could be easily done for the cdb file to a staff home drive using the %homepath% and %homedrive% environment variables

ATI make some awesome cards, as do nVidia, but nVidia can write drivers that actually work properly, so my vote goes to nVidia.

I dont know why this sould cause you trouble? i have an application server running multiple MSDE instances for sophos, wsus etc and it runs fine, only thing that annoys me is i have to install all the sql patches twice :grrr:

cat6 will run gbit to 100m, it doesnt bend very well because most of the older cable has a + shaped separator for each pair (some of the newer cables do not have this), also, the testers available wont be 20 quid(!). Basically its a pain in the rear end, the hardest bit is trying to follow the standards because testing is so tight in comparison. Ironically enough, i was informed setting up the fqdn could "cause problems" by someone at our local portion of the NGfL :sigh: , but our domain is set up that way anyway.

Well, ive got sophos running beautifully here (v5 that is), not sure how or why but it works and only costs £100 a year or something close to that figure
