Taken me over 40 minutes on hold and messing about but i finally have my KMS keys back

Just wasting my time with this this morning, been through to India twice, both times they had no idea what they needed to do, and they cut me off. Even trying that number above I keep ending up at an Indian call centre that has no idea what it is doing, so just going through random options now and hoping! This has only changed when we renewed our license agreement this year which makes it even more inconvenient and we have been using our KMS, so why they take them off you, so you need to request them again is beyond me.

It's a bit of a farce really, i'll manaully disabled everything. Evene having read that article, I still don't think it is by design, just badly designed.

It doesnt sync, seperate passwords, reset using Office365. have the email to prove it, and even tested to make sure the password had updated to the new one.

A situation has arisen today where an ex-member of staff has managed to access their emails, even after there password has been reset. For example, I reset the password on a member of staff account at 12:12pm. So the account password was now only known to me, however, three emails recieved after this time (between 12.40 and 14.01) have been deleted, and are now in the deleted items folder. The ex member of staff has an iPad, so I am rightly or wrongly assuming that this issue may be to do with the account being on this, even though the password has been changed. It isn't the first time I have seen a memeber of staff not need to update the password on an iPad/ iPhone even when they have updated it on Outlook and need the new one to access the emails via Outlook Web Access. Disabling the account, I assume would stop access but haven't tested it. If the above about password changes is true, then it represents a flaw should an iPad be stolen, or account passwords just be reset and not disabled.

How are you and the feeder school connected? Does the feeder school connection go via your school (some councils setup like this). If it is the case, you could configure your VLAN to extend into the feeder school to just the NAS box, thus creating a "network" area to backup too. Our VLAN is extended into our ISPs datacentre, which allows us to backup to a box that is offsite but appears on our network as per normal. Depends entirely on your ISP, internet connection etc and how much work others are willing to do to accomodate you.

Air and the monorail are forever having problems and have been for years. The Skyride cable cars are always breaking down too. I don't think I have ever been to Alton Towers, when either the Monorail, Air or the SkyRide aren't broken on arrival, or are turned off for maintenance during the day for an hour or so and I have been plenty of times! This isn't news and wouldn't even be reported if it wasn't for the Smiler incident, which was actual news.

Did you check the logs for mongod itself? There is two logs the unifi one, that will tell you that there is a mongod problem and then the mongod log itself which will telly uo what the mongod problem is.

I'll ignore your personal attack on, trying to start an argument over something that didn't even happen. I stated it was illegal, and as such isn't the right thing to be doing, if you diagree fine, people drink underage, they do drugs, they speed, however in general most things are illegal also aren't the right things to be doing or encouraging others to do. Everyone makes their own choices and it is entirely up to them, I didn't judge your choice, just said it wasn't a real alternative (as the original poster wants a better deal for what they alreayd pay for). I won't try and give examples of where right and illegal don't work well, like you have tried with when illegal and the right thing may be considered a grey areas. I didn't try to provide a legal sliding scale of seriousness of crimes, and never claimed people doing it were better or worse than anyone else, nor that big businesses or governments were all squeaky clean. I just stated what the law was. Noone ever claimed they NEED 100meg BB either. In reality there is currently a real issue in the UK, and worldwide with there being no equivalent of the likes of spotify, now apple music etc that give people access to films and tv series online through decent legal means is almost definitely a shortcoming that needs to be addressed, but in reality this will take years, things like Napster, Kazaa etcforced the music industry to change and maybe one day film and tv will follow suite. So no need to be defensive, it is almost like you immediately have assumed people are targetting you for your choices, when in reality noone was. Justifying it when noone questioned i or asked you too. I just don't think that promoting something illegal shouldn't happen on this forum, whether is it streaming films, breaking license agreements or to use your example how to park illegally and get away with it.

Just because you can illegally stream stuff or download load it doesn't make it the right thing to do though. Some people are happy to pay and recieve the channels and shows through legitimate means. Whatever peoples beliefs are when it comes to getting stuff off the Internet (not through something e.g Netflix), it is usually illegal and is not a real alternative to getting TV and BB. The fact that you have starred it out shows that. I do agree entirely with you with regards to the pricing though, if they can offer you cheaper deals to keep you, then why can't they be upfront and honest about it and say the price is this, everyone pays this. Not you argued more, or you threatened to leave, so yours is cheaper....

Always play it! You can change your mind the day before they kick you off anyways and they'll keep you. Once you say that you want to cancel it, you can wait 29 days then say you changed your mind and they'll say ok and keep you. Hoepfully they might have rung you offering you something before that though.

Being the biggest provider doesn't actually make you the best provider either. MIS are all very similar really at the end oft he day, it is very much to which one you prefer, which is best value. If SIMS for example was so much superior to the rest, then why do the others even exist? The answer is simple, it isn't superior to all the rest. Some bits of SIMS are better, some bits of CMIS are better, some bits of Progesso are better, same with Scholarpack and iSAMS etc. You choose the best one for you.

There is nothing regular that I know about, which is a shame to be honest. I see our business manager, deputy heads, headteacher and even heads of department have time out of work to go to meetings like these but there is no equivalent for IT. There use to be one in our local council but even that has died off.

My dad, who spends a lot of time travelling. Usually gets the movies themselves on DVD etc, series as well then rips them to one of those Western Digital drives you can make available online. He then downloads them onto his iPad, sure you need to actually buy the films/ series but it a totally legitimate way of watching stuff and if your not into the latest and greatest films/ series then you can get them pretty cheap. If they are travelling as in backpacking, then using a WD drive may also offer a location to backup photos too. My brother used his when we were in Japan, and a good job too because his phone broke half way through the holiday but he only lost a day or so of photos.

Obviously both those websites are probably list prices (who knows what they actually charge you). But charging £60 for a keyboard for a laptop is shocking when they can be got from eBay etc for less then £10. I know that a lot of schools won't allow eBay use but surely you could petty cash buying it from there and saving the school nearly £50 (on face value).

For the games an 8 year should be playing it will be ample.

We use an internal relay. Our internal SMTP server is setup (as above I believe, I can and will double check). Then internally FMS, and other programs send to our internal IP address and port, then it is relayed externally. I tried doing it direct but it didn't work for me, and FMS gives you nothing to go off when it doesn't work. Atleast this method meant mails failing I could see why and re-send them. We currently have a Compute Stick plugged into a TV for our meeting room. So staff can login normally, just make sure that it doesn't have many group policies effecting it to speed up login.

You can move ePortal in about 45 minutes, I say move, I just mean install from scratch on a new server. 15.1 is a pile of garbage, full of bugs and all sorts. With regards to events being blank, are we talking about behaviour events not showing? Theres a bug with them as well that I think is fixable.

No harm in getting some people to try it, will prove if it is a DNS issue or not.

yeah its DNS name, you can change the chsmis to the server IP and see if it is any quicker. You should also be able to ping chsmis.domain.local
