Your importing into WDS to deploy the drivers to the actual image as its created, your error is because the boot.wim can't find a NIC. We haven't had any problems with the 2013 drivers, in fact our new 6th gen boards used the 2013 drivers fine. You need to import the old driver into WDS and then right click your boot wim and add a driver to the actual boot wim not just in WDS. It does a search on the packets you have imported into WDS and you can choose what to add. You use to have to use DISM to do it.

Is it the NIC driver? If so the "new" ones are to big for WDS apparently, so they won't import. A problem I have encountered many many times. The solution is to use an older one from 2013 (still universal and still works normally). Windows likes it, uses it and then is able to update it itself.

You haven't got ftp blocked as a port have you? Shoudln't be anything else you need to do.

Yeah do a backup fo your old one, database, moodledata etc. Create a "new" moodle that is the same version as your current, attach said database and check the config file points to the right places and it shoudl be moved. Personally I would upgrade too on your "new" moodle, you might as well.

Assuming you are migrating from 2.5 to 3. whatever it is now? If so I can recommend getting a list of all your addons, check if there is newer versions, if there is download them all. Take a backup of everything. Then you have 2 choices. Do a big jump to the latest versiona dn update your addons and hope it works (90% of the time it will) Do smaller jumps to the more major releases step stage by stage, backup and test each time, it will work but will be more time consuming. Also update addons as you go, if you do this the addons will probably be fine, big jumps the addons can end up not working. Their is also other benefits such as other changes are highlighted, such as different database type etc.

The house robots were 3 times the size now, so rebuilds. Personally I thought it was rather naff, 3 minute fights but they only showed the "highlights" of some of them because they weren't the full 3 minutes. The arena looked too clean and "designed" as oppose to the odl one that looked quite menacing, the house robots were pathtic in my opinion they did nothing really, I'm a little disapointed that the house robots are 300KG each (except Killalot who weighed way more of course), for no real reason. There can't be anymore of the competitors flipping Matilda over for fun etc which always added to the entertainment or when Razor destroyed her.

They are slow at gettign back to you as well normally! Have you tested connecting to your LDAP on 636 within the school to make sure that isn't a problem? E.G internal firewalls etc.

Yep @timbo343 thats correct. You can also use the predefined LDAP over SSL and then put the port on preserve mode, makes no real difference of course.

We use secure LDAP as above with them, through a Smoothwall box. On one of your external IPs, you need to forward 636 to your AD server. On the actual port forward you can specify IP addresses that the incoming connection can be made from, then its restricted to only allowed IP addresses, others just get rejected.

Total con though when they are only £29.99 today, hardly a super sale...

I know where Iain works has a 6th form, whether or not they have Surfaces in there I couldn't tell you. The real question is, whats the benefit of using the tablet versus the laptop. If there isn't essentially any, they a laptop will probably be best. We are looking at Surface Pro 4 for teachers, because we want them to walk around the room with it, "write" on the screen etc, whether a tablet trumps a laptop.

I think @Iain.Faulkner has Surface 3 with students. The Pro 4 are definitely built better, whether students would look after them well enough I couldn't tell you. It depends on your school and your pupils. The Surfaces are as robust as iPads though.

Might be more work, but create another group for them, put them in it and make the group have soft block on the categories. So they actively have to bypass it, no excuse of an accidental click then. I would be tempted to make the above group only work in classrooms or supervised areas, to stop social media within the 6th form common room, you could allow/ soft block the crime etc but not the social media in this "location". Might help with some of your valid concerns.

You can install the powershell, then use a script to give an account permission to others drives. I posted the actual script somewhere else on Edugeek a few months ago.

The biggets issue that currently stops this is the reliance on an Internet connection. Often Leased Lines are as much as server licensing and server hardware replacement costs over a period. To go fully into the cloud you need 2 leased lines (hoepfully that would be fast enough) but probably from two different providers, one using Virgin, the other BT. As soon as you put that price in, it just isn't viable yet.

Speak to Cunninghams and tell them that their installation fee is a farce. £395 to install a piece of equipment that will probably fail repeatedly in the first year, they normally do! I've just spoke to them, all they do is take your details and get your account manager to contact you, so it's not worth you contacting them and asking anything they don't know the answer. My accout manager is terrible at contacting me when I asked anything so it doesn't bode well. I told them that I'm not prepared to pay that much for installation when no doubt next year they will want another £395 for a firmware update for £10 notes, £395 to install a new coin mechanism etc. I'd rather not accept the new notes and wait to get coins and notes done at the same time.

Yes. When you have people without Internet Access or parents refuse to use online payment or simply can't use online payments for some reason. There has to be an alternative available is the mindset here and so it should be. That means re-val machines that students can use cash to top up their accounts. We have enough issues getting students/ parents not to owe the catering company money through going into the minus, but at the same time the catering staff can't/ won't refuse to serve them any food. Not providing any machines to use cash in would only make this problem worse. I believe the cashless catering was initially installed here to move the queues in the dinings halls faster as oppose to removing cash from the school. Which when it works, it is much faster then fiddling with change.

Think yourself lucky, Cunninghams have just emailed us. £195 each for new note takers if you need them, and a £395 installation cost. Or £395 installation cost for a firmware update. I wouldn't mind if I thought the equipment was decent, but the re-val machines are probably the cheapest and nastiest piece of kit in the school. They have more callouts then anything else by a wide margin.

I'm trying to think of a way of getting round the issue for you, and to be honest I really can't think of an easy one. Most decent switches will allow it to be done via both telnet and web based, HPs, Cisco, Netgears all do from experience. Ciscos can be a bit funny about it, but ours are now very old so it might just be the firmware we have. If you had a 2nd Wifi Network but no seperate VLAN, the guests would access the same range as your normal flat network as your DHCP server couldn't tell the difference between a guest and a normal client. If you use all fixed IPs you could make it so you knew which IP addresses were on the Guest Wifi and then use the Access Control built into Unifi to restrict them to accessing on certain IP addresses. Maybe you could use that to control access anyway without everything else on fixed but it might be a long winded way. You would definitely need your Guest Wifi to have a password as well though, well I would personally. The real issue is how you get those on the Guest Wifi to authenicate against any filtering to gain any form of Internet access, because you couldn't identify by IP easily unless the above bit is true, so the only thing you could offer would be a login page for your filter, which is far from ideal.

Which part, the controller is just software it can install anywhere. You could in theory you could have two Wifi networks with no VLAN and one as a Guest network that would be open, but you are then allowing people to connect and leaving yourself much more open to malicious outsiders. I don't think it would be a very good idea though, I think you need to accept that VLANs are necessary for a Guest Wireless network. Depending on the managed switch depends on how simple it will be, but if shouldn't be very hard to setup a 2nd VLAN.

When you say the controller, you mean the Unifi software right? If so then it should still all work fine, as long as you have access tot he controller you can setup the 2nd VLAN on the wifi points, then setup the same VLAN on the network switches etc. The bit that might be more complicated is the Guest Portal, as you would need the VLAN to be able to access the controller to get the default guest portal.

A lot of our machines (Win 10 ones) won't wake from Sleep using the mouse, you need to use the keyboard to wake them.
