Havent gotten that far yet - will be the first thing I do when I get to work tomorrow and don't mind downloading a 600mb update.

Do do do da dooo do da do da doooo

Arrived at home to find out it arrived around lunch time today! So over the moon with it already and it is pretty easy to touch type with the touch cover (typed this with it!). So the big question is - what do we want to see in a video demo!? To start the USB port has already come in use and the screen is just as clear as Microsoft say it is

I don't have a iPad but one of the guys further up mentioned using the 2X connection client - I also know of someone who uses it on their Nexus 7. Either way...I have just recieved word from home that my Surface has arrived (native RDP)

SSD swap out is always the way to go unless you have more money to the rest of us

Not as seamless but why not RDP onto your PC?

@gshaw Oh don't worry full review + videos + all of the things you can do with it that you can not do with a iPad/aPad coming the moment it arrives! (whenever that is)

Sorry but they mention Windows RT in their statement - they are correct you CANT install anything in the normal way on RT (you need to use the store). On Windows 8 pro systems you can install SIMS as normal.

IIRC they did something for the iPad - I'm sure if they see enough schools jump onto Windows 8 they will come up with something (at a cost )

Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer\Internet Control Panel\Advanced Page Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed If its the temp files that are playing up....

ipconfig /flushdns On the clients maybe if your site wide DNS is ok

Show them the video I posted a little way up - its long winded but if you skip to the right bits....

In that case I sympthise having known what you are going though!

Take the bump up to MDT if you can - will be amazed at how much easier it is to deploy a room Using MDT and App-V to deploy Windows 7 and applications - YouTube

Do you have an internal DNS record to point at the old website? Try doing a PING and seeing what IP address it resolves to.

A while back our internal web host went down (which in turn hosts a staff/student internal homepage) - we've got it setup so that on loading IE or clicking home you get that intranet page AND the schools main website (in a second tab). With the server down the intranet didn't load but the school website was up and running fine - would be amazed at how many calls we got asking if the internet was down only for us to respond with no its just the intranet.

But how will people get onto the interwebs!

Only let down for me is no more web filtering from Microsoft we pay just £320 for the WHOLE school a year - find me a filter that is cheaper than that. (Yes others maybe more advanced (Smoothwall) but it keeps out 99% of what we don't want).

MDT for us - cheap and chearful and does the trick with plenty of options to customise. We have a single base Windows 7 image for EVERY pc in the school, MDT holds onto drivers and aditional applications that we don't do through App-V (IWB software, Outlook 2007 and Sophos are the main ones). Take about 30 minutes tops to go from 0 to 100.

Just had this through from Microsoft Quiet disappointed to be honest – although £50 is quite a generous offer IMO. Only thing is the media are going to rip Microsoft apart over this………

Weird one there! We've been running for at least a year and a half since our LEA decided to let us free on our own web filter - worked out cheaper than the £800 they were asking for with Netsweeper.

Hyper-V - 4 vprocs, startup RAM is 2GB with the ablity to burst to 8GB and 4 NICs. Looks after a school of ~150 web browsing students with ease.

TMG with web filter, firewall and VPN works fine for us on Server 2008 R2 - all latest updates/patches ect

Yeppo nice to look at more colour than just normal black and white! Mashed ours in on one of the DCs - did a clean DC build over the last holiday with everything to best practice so things are still running nice and smoothly (for now!).

Thanks Waiting on WP 7.8 - doesn't look like anyone is making anything for WP8 with a keyboard like the HTC Pro 7 as yet! Brand new deploy of internal certs here was good fun to get going (NOT).
