Yesterday both my older daughters (23 & 20) got to hold their little sister for the first time (little one is now 3 months old) - had a little tear in my eye as it was also my eldest birthday yesterday and she said it was the best birthday present she could have asked for.

SCCM Site Backup and Restore to new server - or start over
mdrabble replied to mdrabble's topic in Enterprise Software
Yep - am on CB after the in-place upgrade sccm services would not load. Installation is over 5 years old now, and if I'm honest, I've not removed old apps/packages so on that side of things it would force me into tidying that part up. In terms of anything that I need to keep - scripts etc... think I've 1 or 2 scripts/policies etc (nothing that cannot be recreated from scratch)- setup is very basic (no thrills) to deploy images/update and software. Cheers Mark -
I'm busy updating my 2012r2 servers to server 2019 and I've come to do my sccm server. Have tried an in place upgrade and it the OS upgrade worked fine - SCCM however didn't like it so much to the point it wouldn't load!, so I have rolled backed the VM and now I'm looking to do a backup and restore of the sccm site. On the new sccm server, does the server/drives have to be the same or have I got room to change things - such as have additional drives to store the sql db and additional drives for packages and contents? Originally had OS, sql and sql db on drive c: and all sccm contents/packages/wsus etc on drive d: Looking to have a separate drive for sql db and then separate drives for content and application sources etc. Or..... since I will be reinstalling most of the desktops over the summer, do I start SCCM from scratch and import packages I'm actually using to save having to import old bits of software I'm not using anymore. Thoughts, comments and suggestions welcome Cheers

I’m also interested in knowing this.

Ignore me - helps if I actually read things!! Yes you can add groups.

Just had a question from a member of staff asking me where records are held and how long do they exist for as he cannot find recordings he previously made within Teams. I thought they were saved on Stream and should be available until deleted. - Is that correct?? Also - If I wanted to restrict who can upload to Stream - I can add staff to the Restricted Users individually - but can I use a distribution list such as Allstaff??? Cannot seem to find any details if this can be done and wondered if anyone has done this. Cheers

Renaming AD Groups - Email Linked Groups
mdrabble replied to mdrabble's topic in Windows Server 2019
Thought that may be the case - thought I double check with more knowledgeable people them me -
Title is slightly misleading as I know how to do this - this is more a question of what will happen if I rename them?? I have AD groups created as Email Distribution lists. I don't want to change the email address - but I want to rename the AD group name only. The reason behind the renaming is because I have 2 AD Groups with the same name but in different OUs 1 AD Group is for Email Lists and the other is for Papercut. I would like to combine them but Heads of Department are funny who goes on which group - eg. they want some staff to print but not receive department emails etc and vice versa. So if I rename the group to include the words email and print, so I know which is which - will that cause any issues for the email list?? Cheers

mdrabble replied to mdrabble's topic in General Chat
Images look really good! Especially when compared to my iPhone generated images. Just putting the finishing touches to our and it will be live for all to see. I’ve emailed SLT about the camera and I’m waiting to hear back but I might make an executive decision if they don’t reply soon! Learnt quite a lot of new web coding tricks for creating the tour with mazipano. -

360 Camera - where can I loan one for free for half a day???
mdrabble replied to mdrabble's topic in General Chat
Thank for the offer but I wouldn’t feel happy if something happened in transit especially the way some delivery companies have been leaving deliveries but doors and walking off without checking someone answered the door first. I have a plan b which won’t look as good but will do the job. -

Purchased a Insta360 NanoS to take some 360 Photos around school so I can create a virtual tour of the school. It arrived yesterday and it looks like the Nano may be faulty as all I am getting is multi coloured static when I view the image on my iphone. I am waiting for their support to get back to me..... In the mean time - longshot - any one in the Manchester/Trafford area able and willing to loan me their 360 Degree camera for approx half a day - you can stay with the camera if that helps - will even throw in a dominos pizza for lunch! Ideally looking at Monday/Tuesday Cheers -
I purchased A3 licensing for teaching staff before Microsoft announced the free offer!! You only need to use an encoder if you are using 3rd party apps to run the live event. after the event has ended, You go back into the live event schedule to access the resources and producers get the chance to download the recording. - Can take a while for it to become available. Attendees can also do the same if the options has been set for them to do so. I’ve told staff to disable attendee option and if they want to share it, upload to one drive and share from there. No stream licensing required.

I’ve not looked at this myself but our exams person has said Sims Intouch has option to email or exam result - but she did say it requires some setting up - but didn’t elaborate on what needed doing.

Use Raspberry PI as Wifi adapter for PC
mdrabble replied to mdrabble's topic in Raspberry Pi, Arduino & Other SBCs
I’ve ordered a WiFi adapter for desktop which solved drive immediate issues. Was thinking of PI as a bridge to network upstairs office as it isn’t practical to run cables from downstairs. Could move my qnap Plex server from downstairs as wife is always complaining about it - upstairs would be out of sight and out of mind :-) -
Use Raspberry PI as Wifi adapter for PC
mdrabble replied to mdrabble's topic in Raspberry Pi, Arduino & Other SBCs
Well it works - but as the PI 3 is a n adapter it slow and I’m luck to get 4mb speeds - so decided to order an cheap ac adapter from amazon. Might look at this more in the future with a PI 4 as then has an ac adapter and will enable me to network some kit where I cannot run cat 6 cables. -

Yep that is exactly what I’m after. Cheers -
I have a temporarily have a PC at home which is nowhere near the router and no Wifi adpter for this PC. Don't intend to purchase a WIFI adapter for PC as I'm only using the PC whilst working from home etc and then it will be going back to work. I have a Pi3 - and I was wondering could I setup the PI in such a way that I could connect the Pi and PC together via an Ethernet cable and enable to PC to use the Wifi connection on the PI so the PC has network access? Hope that all makes sense...... busy multi-tasking and it isnt one of my strong points!!! Cheers

Teams - Stop pupils muting Teacher and kicking others out
mdrabble replied to maxrebo's topic in Cloud Services
How are they starting the meeting of the team? If they schedule and add the students as attendees then that should stop them. https://alicekeeler.com/2020/03/22/microsoft-teams-meeting-setting-students-as-attendees/ Someone posted a powershell script to set the teacher policy as only one who can present which is another work around. -
Had anyone found an easy way for exporting Net2 tokens and converting them for use in EntrySign? Cheers

RDP HTML5 Client - replacing SSL Cert issues
mdrabble replied to mdrabble's topic in Enterprise Software
Didn't even think about clearing those. Now working :-) -
Running RDP on server 2019 with HTML5 webclient up until this weekend, all was working fine until the Certificate expired. I replaced the Certificate and RDP app works fine - but If I try and connect via the HTML5 web page, I am getting a Thumbprint certificate error. I've ran Import-RDWebClientBrokerCert Certificate.cer Reboots Gateway and Session Broker but still no dice. I dont really want to uninstall and reinstall if I can help it! Anyone come across this before? Cheers
-
We use a customer URL so not able to use their SSL certs. Ended up adding TXT verification code to external DNS waiting for about 5 mins and then created the certificate. Bit of a faff but at least it is done for now and will need to repeat later on in August should I need staff to access web client again.
