Thanks guys - think I might have found the prob - an extra blank line at the end of the list of PCs - it looks like psshutdown just stopped there waiting and never continued - and during testing I used a truncated list without the problem *blush*. I'll check that it all runs OK on Monday night. Cheers

Hi guys - can anyone see what I'm doing wrong? I've got a shutdown script that runs from a Scheduled Task, I've created an Admin type account to run the script. If I run it from the command prompt - everything is OK. If I run it as a scheduled task - it seems to hang - I can see psshutdown in the task manager - and if I kill it - the batch file finishes OK. Theere are entries in the log file up to where psshutdown is called, then nothing until I kill the process, and the completed entry is added to the log??? Seems to be working for us - though they are spoofing the old one. Shame - the meetings are always useful and its good to put a face to a handle. Mebbe next time.

A vote for AB Tutor here - very robust and works really well. Nice cheap licensing scheme as well. If our experience was anything to go by - avoid NetOp- it was flakey as heck.

Not sure you're correct there - the 1996 Education Act states that schools may not charge for school activities that happen within school hours and are regarded as necessary for the delivery of the curriculum. Even traditional chargeables such as ingredients for cookery are not chargeable unless the parents have requested that the finished product is taken home. School can ask for "voluntary contributions" but a child cannot be treated less favourably if the parents do not pay. There are some exceptions for music tuition etc. Excerpt from Gateshead LEA Education must be free of charge if it takes place completely or mainly during school hours. If the number of places available for a particular activity is limited, the school must decide which pupils should be given the chance to take part.This should not have anything to do with parents wanting or being able to contribute to the cost. Schools must not charge for materials, books, instruments or other equipment, but they can invite parents to provide or pay for materials for practical lessons. Schools should only make a charge if parents have said in advance that they want to keep the finished product.

Nah - the reason the pay is so bad is because we keep doing a load of stuff that is not on our JD and not getting paid for it. Point me to the teacher who takes on loads of extra responsibilities without the commensurate rewards!

Or you could just buy AB Tutor, which gives much better control of that sort of thing, plus lots of other benefits - teachers here love it.

As a gentle suggestion - if you're looking for employment - checking your spelling & punctuation before posting might give a better impression.

On my first day in school - I started in a holiday period and they didn't tell me that they locked up early - I got locked in and then set the alarms off wandering about looking for an exit - caretaker and head had to be called to let me out - not good... Better than my first ever day though - working in a factory - I got sent down to the finishing shop (consisting of about 30 late middle aged women) to ask for "two black balls" - quite a shock to an impressionable 18 year old...

One notes that his only experience teaching in schools was a 6 year stint 1965-71 - very relevant! I don't imagine they had many IT Techies back then.

It wasn't just us then...today from time to time - its been internet roulette - refreshing a page would give different sites, individual pictures, chunks of Java script each time you pressed F5 - pretty freaky - its still up & down a bit now...
